Kitchen pumps out quality fayre; takeaway on the left and dine in on the right, as one enters the property at 10 Joll Road in Havelock North village.
We dined in last evening, party of four, old friends.
My compliments to the management on their thoughtful wine list which is comprehensive, well thought out, and priced sensibly, as is their fair BYO wine policy. Also kudos on the QUALITY and standard of food. It is as good as it gets in provincial NZ. We ordered one starter on a HOT cast iron platter shared, plus 4 different Mains. My Goa influenced free range chicken dish was truly pungent delicious & excellent. Rice was served along with the Mains in an inclusive pricing. No sweets ordered. Dishes averaged under 30 bucks apiece, and we felt value @ 37.50 p/p all up where the FOOD & BYO wine was concerned.
Service is under par for this level of pricing imho. No top up of rice offered, Extremely slow drinks service. Long periods of time elapsed trying to flag down a young non professional 'server'. Average at best seating comfort in a booth. Room was tidy. Conversation was possible given echoing acoustics.
Summation: highest marks for what we consumed foodwise, and an average for service, value overall 'fair' all things considered, and would return to sample more items from their lovely menu. This would be a VERY special dining experience should they sort their 'service issues' and put the client 1st. read more
