I actually preferred the fondue with the potatoes as opposed to the bread but both options were lovely. The pickles and onions were great to sort of cleanse the palate. This restaurant was so cozy and romantic. Highly recommend stopping here for a meal!

It's an unusual place as it's name suggests German cuisine but the menu is written in French and some of the items have a Swiss influence, others German, others Italian and some French. I suppose it's a Swiss fusion restaurant as all the border influences are present on the menu here ha ha ha. Service is first class and the atmosphere is very casual and nice. I had the vitello tonato which came with a bowl of double fried chips and it was heavenly. The food was amazing and I could have happily licked my plate clean, and I would have, if there was no customer sitting opposite to me ha ha ha Happily come here again and look forward to my next trip. I was able to get a menu with a partial English translation (my German is too limited to order much beyond sausages and cutlets). The restaurant offered a modest but sufficient selection, including several standard Bern dishes. There was also a decent selection of wines. I ordered pan-fried trout topped with apples and served on rosti that was very good. The fish was excellently done, and the rosti was good, if a bit oily. The prices were reasonable--CHF 43.20 for dinner, two glasses of wine, and pear sorbet. There are enough good choices on the menu to make this a great place for a family or group.
