Please thoroughly review the charges you are being billed. Every time I visit, they consistently overcharge me by a few hundred dollars and it is extremely challenging to obtain a refund. They charge whatever they please, regardless of what your insurance states they should charge you. Verify the charges with your insurance; the amount your insurance states you need to pay is the correct cost. All dental offices have contracts or agreements with insurance companies that specify the exact cost per procedure and they must adhere to these prices. The office manager, Zoila, is aware of this but disregards it and overcharges because she knows that the majority of the patients either don't speak English or don't know how to check. She exploits our low-income community and its residents. Even when you return and complain, she refuses to help and do the right thing. I've always had to contact their Sherman Oaks office (Southland Dental, 818-788-4788) and speak with Ana for my refunds. So far, Ana has been helpful and refunded the overcharges but it's always a mission to get ahold of her. I'm genuinely puzzled by the owner, Dr. Michael Abaian, continuing to employ these crooked Office Managers but I guess they are making him money!!!

The providers and staff aren't professional nor polite or engage with the patient. Always advocate for your self! If something feels off, leave. 3. Rundown practice with old equipment (I used to be a patient of theirs in the early 2000's when it was owned by another company and decided to come back and it's upsetting to see they're using the same equipment and just slapped new paint on the walls. It's 2026, with all the money you're taking from your patients you should be able to upgrade) 4. They will offer procedures that aren't covered by your insurance just to get you to pay out of pocket(where they make their money). If not covered then it's not needed! Please seek help elsewhere, this practice only cares about profiting off of its patients 5. One of their dentist is extremely aggressive on his patients, he did a fill on a cavity I had and was so aggressive, I was in pain in that area of my mouth for over a week which is not normal for a cavity fill. My father is a patient there too and he also agrees with me, that doctor did mold on dad's tooth, by the third time it didn't fit and he started shaving my dad's tooth instead which hurt my dad and told him to stop, so unprofessional to cut corners like that. 6. Their billing is wrong, my dad also said they're billing him 20% because insurance pays 80% and i reviewed my dad's EOBs and it does state that insurance covers 90% and my dad would only pay 10%, so this whole time he has been paying more, that is Fraud!!! Please stay away, if you cant and already have planned treatments with them, do your research, make them call insurance to confirm coverage on procedures. And ALWAYS CHECK YOUR EOBS, they need to match to each Date of Service, (for all providers not just this one)
