I called to make an appointment today and was shocked when the manager (who says he's the owner) told me I've been a "problem" for speaking up in the past. I've always been respectful. I simply asked questions or voiced concerns, like any paying customer should be allowed to do. My last visit was for my birthday, and I even tipped generously because I loved the results. But today, I was told most of the staff no longer wants to service me even though I've never been disrespectful. As a Black woman, this isn't the first time I've felt pushed out of a salon for simply using my voice. It's incredibly disappointing and hurtful. If a business can't accept respectful feedback from women of color, it's not a place we should feel obligated to support. I hope other Black women in Fairfax read this and know: you have every right to speak up without being labeled or dismissed. I will no longer spend my hard earn money in places that don't value me as a person. I'm no different than anyone else who speaks up about a service they pay for. Ignore the good reviews on here lol. My nail tech didnt know how to do my nails and I had to tell her step by step. Two other techs had to come and fix. I was in chair for over an hour and a half; to get natural nails with dip. They told me they would give me a discount and they only offered a 5% discount. My nails look OKAY...not great. Terrible service and terrible pricing. My friend had one broken nail and they charged 10 dollars for the one tip they put on there. Manager wasn't responsive to complaints. I would like to share my first experience. I scheduled an appt for a mani and pedi. It is a small, cute salon and the staff were hospitable. I ended up getting one of the mid grade pedi packages. I anticipated relaxing massages but I felt the tech rushed and the massages didn't last as long as it should have. It seemed like each massage one last about 20-30 secs and she only massaged my legs, not my feet. I feel that if I'm paying for the service then the service should be rendered. Then I got my full set gel mani. The tech seemed to do everything right except she didn't cut my cuticles. I was confused and disappointed by that. Isn't that part of the service? I mean they cut my cuticles during my pedi. I have been getting my nails done for many years so I am very familiar with the services they should provide. As my go-to manicurist was out of town on vacation and I was in desperate need for a mani and pedi. I used the handy Yelp Appointment Request feature for a same day appointment (more like, within the next few hours!) and received a response within 10 minutes. At first, they weren't able to schedule me during my requested time period, so I began looking at other salons. They reached back out within 15 minutes to let me know that they were able to schedule me as the original appointment rescheduled! I went in for an SNS (dipping powder) manicure and spa pedicure. They had a wide variety of colors for dipping as well as gel and regular polish. My spa pedicure came with a paraffin wax on my heels as well as a nice massage. I had the dual treatment (hands and feet) during my experience, which was appreciated even though I wasn't on a time crunch. Nancy did my manicure and she was meticulous throughout the whole experience, and was very friendly! Unfortunately, my manicure only lasted 2 weeks before my nails started chipping (it's typically ~3-4 weeks with SNS at my usual salon). The salon itself is clean and well-kept. I came here right after my engagement to get my nails done. I do my own nails at home and this was the first time I had ever gotten them professionally done. It was a really last minute appointment that one of my best friends made for me. I will say, 10/10 for the service and hospitality. I'm not sure what everyone's names were but the two ladies who helped my friends were very kind. I was a little jealous of them when I saw how much conversation they were having. While my nail tech was nice, she didn't speak with me at all throughout the appointment. I asked for medium length almonds with a natural smile line french. She added fake tips and used dip powder. Maybe it was my fault that I didn't pay attention as I was on my phone but I'm now realizing how uneven and poorly done these were. Keep in mind, these are 3.5 days old. I got these done Saturday evening around 5pm, it is now Tuesday night. The shape isn't even an almond but a rounded oval. They didn't look too weird right after I got them done but now that they've grown, you can now see how wonky the shape is. She flooded my cuticles on multiple nails and didn't even use the correct sizes for the tips as there are some fingers where you can see my natural nail on the side. My cuticles look messy and dirty and the shape of the nails themselves are just not cute. I'm not sure if my expectations were too high but now I regret the fact that my friend paid a lot of money for me to get them done. Sebastian had a very warm presence and was extremely helpful getting me situated. Lina created the most beautiful almond nails for me that were perfect and natural looking. This was my second time at nails lounge. I had a very good experience the first time so was looking forward to my visit. I went in on a Thursday afternoon and was able to walk in without an appointment. I opted for SNS with extensions since my nails were already cut super short. I liked how my nails came out on the first day but on third day i started noticing all of my nails lifting? Hoping to find a great spot close to work and near the kids schools where I could stop in and get a pedicure and manicure before heading home. It's piled on layers of huge messy bumps and not even close to the nail bed!!! It looks weeks old. Waste of money and now in need it removed immediately. Manicures are so much more important then pedicures in the cold seasons when your hands are on display...not the toes UPDATE DO NOT LIE IN THE COMMENTS - I did not need to leave in 45 minutes. As stated above, I arrived at 3:20 and immediately picked my color. In addition, I did not need to leave until 5 pm. And maybe you should state how long each service is approximately so the customer is aware, especially when paying so much. I went in wanting an ombré color with coffin as the shape. (acrylic) Jack said he wouldn't be able to do it but then him and the manager started speaking to each other then he said he could do it. I told him i needed them short (pic 2.) because i'm in an EMT and work in an ambulance. He persisted to tell me that the ombré wouldn't look right if i got my nails short, so i said i'd just get a solid color. I also asked for my nails to be coffin shaped which he did but not very well. Some of the nails are just straight and boxy like. I asked him to cut them shorter and he got very frustrated with me, put the scissors and file down and just said he will make then shorter once he's done painting them. At this point i'm very uncomfortable and want to leave but i'm giving him a chance because i've never been here before. He eventually did the ombré that i wanted but then kept on saying how difficult it was because he had cut the nails short (which they aren't short enough for me to wear to work). Once he was completely done he said, "i could've done it shorter if i used a different technique." I was fuming at this point. How could he say that to me when i was BEGGING him from beginning to keep them short. He said he would file them down once he was done painting but he never really did and they're still long. I don't mind having long nails except for the fact that i literally CANNOT have long nails being as i save lives every day. Ugh i'm upset!! i'm going back on sunday to fix them or just take them off... UPDATE...i went back today (just 2 days later) because the owner reached out to me and said that they would fix them and make sure i leave happy. Nancy helped me today and she did exactly as i asked. She made my nails short just how i needed them to be and they actually look like a coffin shape. Mandy, the owner, and Nancy were very apologetic about the situation and were so kind. They didn't charge me which also made me happy. I left the salon today feeling much much about about my nails and the customer service i received.
