I needed a facial....! Badly…read more Actually, I just needed some pampering in general...and a European facial seemed to fit the bill. I'd heard glamourous stories about the Europeans, and of course...they traditionally have lovely skin. After months with no Vitamin D, my skin was looking dry, sallow, gray and needed a bit of non-chemical, non-invasive lift. It is indeed time for a facial. I found Beauty Grevenitz online through a search (as of course I am the first to review it, so hopefully others will go after me knowing more information!), and sent an email through the contact form. Margaret replied to me quickly and set me up with a convenient appointment on a Friday morning. For 89 euro (plus tip) I received a microdermabrasion (removes 18 layers of dead and icky skin while reenergizing the cells!), mask, eyebrow cleanup (underneath only), extractions, massage and moisturizing treatment. And, until you've had extractions here...I don't think you've really had extractions. Let's just say, no pore is safe. They'll cooperate or else. Exactly how I like it, I don't want a facial to just be relaxing (I can sleep on a bus, thankyouverymuch), I need it to be productive and fulfilling. I want my skin to gleam and glow, and blackheads and clogged pores don't lend to that feeling very well. This lady means business. Take an aspirin before perhaps. Or a glass of wine. My one slight complaint is that the crystals used in the microderm (normal) remained present through the whole treatment, so the massage, mask, etc all felt faintly of sandpaper, which isn't entirely relaxing or soothing. It's not the end of the world by any means, but I had the crystals in my mouth...they were kind of everywhere, and I've not had that happen previously. Not enough to even be a bother, but worth mentioning. They also offer: Nail services & other body treatments Location can be tricky: It is near the University (Universitat Ubahn), and you'll go through an alley of sorts, then turn a quick right and enter at the rear of the building address. Ring the buzzer, ascend one flight of stairs and you'll be in the cute, clean, well-prepped Beauty Grevenitz. My skin has cleared up and feels 100x better than when I arrived. Margaret is a real pro and has been doing this for many years, and it shows. She didn't try to sell me anything...which I appreciated, I almost wish she had because I need some new moisturizer! *Cash or German debit cards only.

After checking the reviews on yelp, I made a decision to visit Beauty, Body and Nails, which turned out to be one of the best decisions I have made during this trip. The online booking system is super easy to use. For anyone who only speaks English like me, just use Google translator and then you are good to go. Margarete is very responsive. Both my appointments got confirmed within a few hours. I find the place easy to find (thanks to Google map) and the rooms are very clean and comfy. Both times, I did not have to wait at all. But I still got to try the massage chair, which is very comfortable : ) Margarete is wonderful to talk to and an expert in what she does. The facial was awesome. She deep cleaned my face with a facial scrub. After steaming, she took time to do the extractions. Oooh, what can I say? I have had extractions elsewhere so gentle that I almost fell asleep. And of course, my pores were still clogged. But with Margarete, I felt that she cleared every clogged pore on my face and every bit of my skin looked clean and refreshed. She also cleaned up my eyebrows (I like it!) and applied a very soothing mask. The rest of the facial was very relaxing --- a nice face and shoulder massage and a moisturizing treatment. All the products smelt very good during the facial. Margarete did not try to sell me anything, which I appreciate very much. She even gave me a sample of hydrating moisturizer to try cause my skin was dry. The experience was great and the result is simply awesome. My skin has never felt smoother and I cannot be happier about it. If I were to stay in Munich for a longer time, I would definitely go again. BTW, Margarete speaks English very well.

Ok, I admit it. I…read moreREALLY wanted to get a manicure. In Germany. Where they don't value the silliness of cheap weekly manicures by super efficient and talented women from Asia. I was truly going to try the whole "consume less," but holy hell my nails looked so bad no one would even pick me up as a hitchhiker. I thought I could sneak one over. I should've walked right out when I almost fainted due to the smell of toxic fumes. I was WRONG. Coco Nails is subpar. So called "American-style" nail salon. Avoid it, its worth just going to a German salon that is going to take a bit longer and cost a bit more. The end result will be better and you won't leave with nail fungus (deargodpleasedontletmegetnailfungus). The cons: *price: 15 euro for a manicure I could do myself. *cleanliness: iffy, at best. *color selection: probably the worst I've seen. Orange, purple, random colors it looked like people left over? Really strange. All crusty and all pretty dated and/or crazy. It seems they probably specialize more in the gel/acrylic nails as that's what all the ladies in there were getting. I don't roll that way, just needed a basic. Which was...extremely basic. No base coat, no top coat, one quick once-over with the cuticle trimmers. I can't vouch for it, unfortunately. And even more unfortunately...my nails don't look a whole lot better than when I started!

As stated in other reviews of Coco Nails, just skip it. Not a fan. I could have done this at home…read moreand saved the 15 euro. I was going to get a pedi also but backed out after seeing polish all over my fingers. Not worth it.
