It was our forty-sixth anniversary, and we were there to see the live production of Mary Poppins at the Opera House in Granbury. When we got to the hotel and were given our room, when we opened the door, in the room were balloons that said Happy 46th Anniversary, gold and silver balloons on either side, and a couple of glasses and chilled wine. I cannot express how amazing it was to be treated so kindly at the Holiday Inn. I can only say that if there is a place where you would like to stay and be treated very well, please go to the Granbury Holiday Inn and enjoy their hospitality. Five stars for sure.

Karin made this an incredible experience for us this year with warm cookies in the lobby and a kind word for us every time we passed through to get a cup of coffee or to head off to shows. Great location, well-stocked snack bar and amenities shop, and great wifi! Texas has been kinda hit-or-miss for internet and this is some of the fastest I've enjoyed. Somebody else picks up the bill, so we don't know how much it is to stay, but if it fits your budget it's a great option!

The grounds are absolutely beautiful and create such a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere. The breakfast was delicious, starting with fresh fruit, and the staff was incredibly attentive throughout our stay. The service is high quality, the rooms are spotless, and everything is exceptionally well kept. We also loved the daily wine and appetizers served around five o'clock each evening. One of the best parts is the location -- it's an easy walk to the town square with all the fun shops and wonderful restaurants. It was an amazing getaway and a perfect anniversary vacation.

We did not have a chance to swim in the pool, but it was a beautiful area. We stayed in the big house that has several room options. It's like being in a B&B, so be prepared for some people gathering in the main areas (kitchen, dining room). They even have a bar with super cute cocktails. They do have the option to rent the other houses on property as well, which is what we want to do on our next visit. The best part of our trip, the customer service. Both the hubby and I come from customer service backgrounds so when we receive excellent service we like to share this information. They are incredible. If you are in the Granbury area, check them out! They had a really cute store onsite as well.

The general area is…read moreclean and well maintained, there is a grill outside to cook some dinner, the landscaping was well kept. There is a gym with cardio equipment and a pool with a hot tub. The Room: The room I stayed in had a king size bed that was comfortable enough, though a little soft for my taste. The pillows were very lumpy and not comfortable at all. The shower was always hot when I used it and had good water pressure. The water didn't seem to get all of the soap off of my body or out of my hair, but that might just be how the water is in this area. There was also a large flat screen, a desk, alarm clock, a fridge and microwave, plenty of lights and power outlets. The Verdict: I'll definitely stay at this Best Western again if I'm in Granbury. Overall this hotel has all of the amenities that I want and very few draw backs.

Just sticking to major issues (lot of subtle problems, too), they charged extra $50 for early 2pm…read morecheck-in, that's too much (wasn't 11am, most grat that without a charge). Security - there's no way as customary to secure the door from inside, no dead bolt, no latch, no door block on jam, nothing, not even a "do not disturb" to hang on door. So we're there an hour before woman walks in as we're lying on the bed gawking at us, and because the rooms are incredibly small (only window for natural light closed drapes behind tall headboard, coffin-like dark small room) the door and the woman are only 3 feet from the bed as she's basically standing at the end of the bed gawking at us and then shutting door. Noise - there's approx 2 inch gap from bottom of door to floor, so inside the room you hear all the sound from other guests and the restaurant as if they're in the room with you. Insects - for the few hours we stayed until we promptly checked out and went elsewhere, we saw cockroaches at the coffee station, that with the door gaps meant bugs were free to go from room to room to restaurant, including the multiple flying bugs of different kinds that were in our room. Service - we let hosts know (all online, no staff on site) that we were checking out for issues and requested refund. The one time we actually got a call back and spoke to a human, it was broken English (China?), and had to follow up on issues and request for refund again, and then never heard back. We went and stayed elsewhere, paying for two hotels that night, and never heard back from Nutt House.

It has so much charm, but everything has been freshly remodeled, so you get that perfect mix of old character and modern comfort. Our room was spotless and much larger than we expected, which was a really nice surprise. It felt bright, fresh, and thoughtfully updated. The towels were super soft, which I always notice and appreciate. There isn't a traditional lobby or staff working on site 24 hours a day, but that honestly wasn't an issue at all. Ken greeted us when we arrived, showed us to our room right away, and answered all of our questions. He was friendly, welcoming, and very informative. Anytime I texted the number they provided, we got a quick response. We never felt like we were on our own or couldn't get help if we needed it. The amenities were great too. The free coffee bar was perfect in the mornings, and having an ice machine and elevator made everything easy. The complimentary aluminum water bottle was such a thoughtful touch. And definitely make a reservation at Christina's on the ground floor of the building. The food was fantastic and such a convenient bonus to have right there. I was a little worried about parking, but there is tons of street parking available. No problems at all. If you're looking for a cozy, unique place with tons of charm, this is it. We would absolutely stay here again.

Around noon on check-in day they called and asked if I needed a "handicapped room". I told them no and they said they had non-ADA king suites available. I called back an hour later to see when the room would be ready and they said 2-2:30. We arrived at 2:20 and the lady at the front desk said the room wouldn't be ready for another 45 min to an hour. Another couple was sitting in the lobby waiting for their room to be ready as well. We came back at 3pm and another employee was working the front desk. Thankfully our room was ready. That same couple was still waiting on their room. Obviously, they were not thrilled their room wasn't ready at the scheduled check in time (3 pm). I'm not sure if the original room we had would have been ready earlier or not. Our room was on the third floor behind the elevator. Surprisingly, the room was quiet when the fan was on so we didn't hear the elevator much at all. The room was spacious and clean. We had an issue with our room key working on the room door and the pool. But, once we got it re-keyed at the front desk it worked the rest of the time. Apparently, holding the room keys close to your phone deactivates the keys. Maybe in the future they'll switch to the blue tooth keyless entry like other major hotels. The indoor pool was nice. The hot tub was even better. The breakfast options were decent each day. We would consider staying here again when in the area.
