The menue is made up of several meat dishes, most importantly black angus steaks, rump-, sirloin-, t-bone- and fillets in the usual 180 - 250gram categories with a green hot or average peppers riding on it and very delicious seasoned. Served with grilled potato, salad with loads of ingredients. Also options like corncobs, or -grains with ham are available. The pricing starts at little 10euro fees for small meat dishes or huge salads towards 20 euro for the big fillet. Prices are affordable. Quality is good. Service is always around and pleasant. My recommendation for steak. I've seen lamb as special offer at our table, which looked good. The other table had the 'large' or all-you-can eat spare ribs, which also looked quite delicious. We sat upstairs, where there are four small tables crowded together in a tiny space. All the tables were occupied and we felt very observed, aware that everyone in the tiny room could hear our every word. It was uncomfortable. Our evening ended on a particularly sour note when we asked for the check and handed over our gift certificate. A few minutes later, we were smugly informed that the gift certificate -- which we received during COVID and did not include an expiration date -- had expired and the restaurant refused to accept it. Ugh. Needless to say, we will not be going back to Schlumachers.

Go for the lunch hour deals to save some bucks. Also, they're very big on making everything about "die Damen" vs "die Herren" with the customers, even on their menu ("Mrs. Rumpsteak" for a smaller portion and "Mr. Rumpsteak" for a bigger portion) and make a big deal out of a guy ordering a "girly" drink and a woman ordering a beer. Which is kinda annoying. Personally I wish they would let that go but most of the clientele there seem to like that kind of prejudiced banter.

This isn't the type of place we would usually eat lunch, but we were very hungry and this seemed like a safe bet. It was definitely a bit pricier than I would normally pay, but certainly worth it. My beef was cooked perfectly and the vegetable and potato sides were delicious. My wife's salad was very good as well. The strangest things about eating in Germany was the fact that they do not offer to bring you water. If you order water, it is bottled or sparkling water and is not cheap. I realize this is a cultural thing so I'm not holding it against them. Even though we did not have kids with us, I thought it was cool that they had a kids play area off to one side that was full of toys and puzzles. If I'm ever in Kiel again, I would recommend Deck 8.
