A very special place.
Quite low-key at first glance, but so cosy and relaxed atmosphere, it doesnt need an interior that looks like a Beyoncé-video.
Started by an all-female crew some 20 years ago, they have managed to keep the place running in a rural, beautifully shaped coastal landscape ever since. Meanwhile, the founders son has taken over, but still the place remains in its own, unique and almost motherly warm mood.
Very down to earth with a quite large menu, almost entirely consisting of locally inspired, REAL food. They use ecological ingredients whereever it makes sense, and you can taste it. Many vegetarian dishes.
No fancy, overly nuanced explosions of exotic tastes, but boy can they make just the kind of food you crave for after a long walk on the nearby, Cape-Cod-in-a-nutshell-like beaches, giving it just the right touch of earthy herbs and genuine aroma.
As for drinks, the beer will be perfect draft, the wines are as down-to-earth and carefully chosen as the food is, and the selection of sodas and fruit juices (no sugar added) is as it should be.
Hot drinks as well as desserts come exactly the way a picturebook-Grandma would make them. Try the hot chocolate with a pancake or their homemade pies. Its delicious.
On top of all this, there is an extra section for families with kids, where eating and playing are beatifully combined - no loud annoying toys, but lots of childrens books, paper and crayons and other inspiring things for the little ones. And Ladies, be delighted - the diaper changing table is in the Mens Room ;-)
Truly great, no-b**s** place with a down-to-earth, authentically friendly staff.
