Super easy to spot them with their sign which is the entrance for their different parking lots. You park in the middle of the forest. There's a pretty cottage where the restrooms are. Then, you enter the trail through a pretty arch where they check your tickets. If you don't have any, you can get them by the both for a couple more dollars. You can also purchase a pretty cool bag for their 100 anniversary. There is a water station too. The trail leads to the stage. Remember you will have to come all the way up so travel light. You can bring your own low chairs or rent for $5. We sat at yhe middle. Sound was good. Sometimes they had some problems but nothing too terrible. LOVED they have live music!!! Can you beleive this in the middle of the forest? We saw a Dr Seuss play. Good and fun performance. Easy to go out. Bremerton is the nearest ferry stop buy you can also try Kingston or driving from Tacoma all yhe way up. With one ferry down at Seattle we drove up to Edmonds waiting was very fast for a Sunday :D We didn't have to wait 3 hours at Seattle. It was a 20 minute drive from Kingston. We could see a big line for the way back.

The performance was absolutely amazing, the cast and production crew did it to perfection. It was so magical. They have stadium type folding flat pads with backs to rent , 2 for 5$. Everything is cash only though so make sure to have cash. The only downsides were that the walk is definitely a steep hill with switchbacks down and therefore steep back up as well. I wish they'd rent the chairs down at the bottom instead of at the top since I had to carry all of our stuff already. The other issue is parking. They do a good job packing cars in but you get blocked in by several rows of cars, which means you literally can't get out until the right cars leave and it makes it for a long exit. Otherwise, the theater itself is absolutely gorgeous. The cast and crew did fantastic. I'd highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back.

We made the trip in about 1 hour 45 minutes, so the drive was not too bad. It was also beautifully scenic as well. When we arrived, there was ample parking. It was cloudy and slightly misting, but not cold. I cannot even express to you how excited we were to eat oysters. We had also brought our two smaller children with us. That said, I was disappointed to see how small the festival was. You could walk the whole thing in a horseshoe that was maybe 15 booths long? To top things off, all of the oyster booths were cash only. There were two semi-redeeming factors: the choo choo train for the kids that went around the loop, and a pretty cool magic show that started about an hour after we arrived. It was definitely kind of, "You live, you learn" moment, although it was a little disappointing that we weren't able to partake in the one thing we went for. They did report to have an ATM onsite, but the line for it was long and our kids were overtired by then. They did have an alcohol garden, though, so those folks were having a good time!

I really liked that they had time reservations because it was not crowded at all! Sometimes everyone is busy doing other things that you get the whole area to yourself. The petting farm was so fun! All of the animals looked really loved and cared for. Plus they were really friendly. Also the place did not stink and was well tended! I commend them for that! The play area was cute, with a three separate buildings. The only thing is there wasn't much to do inside, hopefully they get more toys for the place. They had some bouncy ride ons and a little area to catch cows with ropes. They had a few face cut out pictures to take pics and a decorated truck to take pics. Hopefully they'll be more in the future for cute pictures. Tractor ride was exciting for the kids. $5 a barrel for a child and adult. Be aware they paved a nice path but it was still fairly bumpy. Pumpkins were set out nicely, not really what I expected for a pumpkin patch but really nice. Not much snacks to buy. Possibly in the future it would be nice with a small area for the hangry little kids. There was a 90 min end time, which didn't bother me since it was pleasant and no overcrowding. Overall my family and I had a blast. Will definitely return!

Arrived at 11:20 AM at the parking lot…read more Let's just say it was totally packed since we had to find a parking space on Lot E (Elephant). But we were right next to the walkway, so it was actually convenient for us. Saw how small the parking spaces were from Rows A-D, how close people were parking next to each other like there were no other lots/rows available. People acted like if they could not park at a close spot, they weren't going to find a space. It's not like you can't walk when the Zoo entrance isn't even that far from the parking lot. Anyhow, the 3 of us walked in with a stroller. They had Accessibility and Stroller ramps, so it was easy to navigate. Once we got to the entrance, we scanned our QR Code to get in. There were bathrooms and maps along with signs all over the place, so thought that was simple enough to follow while staying on the recommended pathways. Getting to the exhibits was pretty easy. Thought the weather was supposed to be cloudy and a little cooler since the forecast showed temperatures in the high 60's and low 70's. But nope!! It was blazing hot with the Sun out shining the whole time out! Felt like it was in the 90's since we were sweating the whole time. Anyway, the Zoo was totally packed! Guess there were a number of Summer School trips that brought their Elementary school kids since there were a whole bunch of groups of them! Every place we went, it was crowded, loud and packed with children, parents, strollers, teachers and wagons! Thought we were in a mob pit or something... Since it was so hot out, not many of the animals were outdoors. Even if they were, probably hid somewhere to avoid being in the heat and Sun. Didn't get a chance to see the Elephant, Goat, Meerkat or Monkeys. We saw the Penguins, Sea Lions, Polar Bear and Tiger. Then visited the 2 Aquariums to see a bunch of fish and different species of Shark and Sting Rays. It took us exactly 2 hours to visit each of the exhibits and walk around the whole Zoo. Could have been shorter or longer, depending on the animals being out and not being out. Also, if it wasn't so crowded and steamy hot, we might have spent a little more time taking pictures and videos together. The Cafe was pricey and line was long. But overall, we enjoyed ourselves, especially our 2-year old. He really liked seeing the Sharks! We might try visiting again in the Fall, once regular school season starts and also when the temperatures are much cooler at that time.

For the town of Steilacoom, the apple squeeze is a big deal. The shut down the main road and…read morevarious vendors come to sell their wares and almost anything apple related comes up for sale. I was actually surprised by this event...pleasantly surprised. We got there early as we were told it's good to get their early to get your ticket I press your apples. We got out ticket and walked around the downtown area until our designated time. While walking we came across a petting zoo with a big horse, a goat, cute baby chicks , & a turkey with attitude. They had a game center type set up with bouncy castles and face painting and ring toss type activities on the tennis court. There was also the historical museum, the general store, the wagon shop, the tribal museum, and other things to keep the kids busy as well as lots of other things and history to discover for the adults. There weren't a whole lot of food vendors but it was the typical carnival/fair type food. I opted for boiled corn cob and an apple cider float. What...an apple cider float you ask... Well it's a delicious treat that was kind of sorta invented by one of my friends who also opted to give me the VIP tour of the festivities of the Apple Squeeze. Anyway, when it came time to press the apples we headed over to the presses. There is such a variety in the presses. Some are electric and others are manual so if you really want a taste of the old days, opt for the manual labor ones. Since I hadn't carbed up prior to entering the press and didn't feel like doing an manual labor we took my friend's kid over to the electric press and when our time came my friend's daughter tosses the apples in. There was also a good variety in the apples so that you get a good batch of cider. They have the apples shipped in due to issues with apple worms in the past when people brought their own apples. So you don't have to worry as much about food born illness. You still have to boil the cider when you get home anyway to stave off the possibility of bacteria. I will say that when I got home, the cider is super sweet. I actually had to water it down a bit because I was expecting it to be more tart. It was still delicious though. It was very nice to be able to see parts of Steilacoom that I never get to see since practically every business was open to the public. There was also live music for local musicians. The only that may have been more appropriate would have been like a swap meet or a rummage sale or something, but honestly what was there was sufficient enough for us to kill about 4 hours of time.

There are lots of festivals in the area, but this is probably the one most tightly focused on great…read morehand-made food. It's unbelievable how many people turn out to make snacks, dinners, and desserts for this. Even speaking as someone who grew up in this town, I never really noticed this church and all the space it has. You get in free, so they need that space--it gets *packed* by the end of the night. The main space is the big tent out back, ringed by food vendors and craft vendors. You eat very well. Sausages made to order and available only at the festival, tons of other entrees, and especially all the different pastries and cookies...all this stuff is just outstanding. Virtually everything costs just a few bucks. There's music and dancing and traditional garb around, too. They DO want this to be a genuine heritage festival, and among the older generation, there are a bunch of people either born in the old country or whose parents were. I'm the least thing from Greek myself, but just digging around looking for interesting food and interesting stuff to take home, I had a ball. I was out of line all those years I didn't attend (this was the first time).

Upstairs is the church, downstairs is where it's at....bypass the people in line and head out to the tent. Do yourself a favor and pick out a few enticing items to box up out of the pastry case or grab a box of baklava at the bakery on the way out. My favorite thing at the festival are tiropitas (phyllo dough with Greek feta) they are light and crispy but also very rich and savory. FIND THEM! They are not in the food tent. I enjoy the gyros and the calamari with the garlic potato dipping stuff. (Please forgive me as I know not the proper words for some of this glorious food)..They make little tiny donuts with hot honey sauce over them..and dolomites (not my thing. Grape leaves taste like crap). Sausages. You can purchase a traditional Greek "dinner" for sit down in the church (near the tiropita window!), or nibble your way through the food tent if that's more your style. Any item is just a few dollars. It is a fun experience to watch the greek dancing every hour or so. Go sit in a pew and listen. Light a candle for a loved one. Learn something about the culture you are immersing yourself in. You can purchase Greek food like olive oil and excellent cheeses and other Greek products in the food tent. They use tokens for the food so be sure to stop at the huge line right when you walk in the main food tent to get some..(hope you've had your flu shot. Touching money is bad enough!! But wait! Touch these tokens too)..there is beer and wine available for purchase. It is buffet style seating and I wouldn't have it any other way. Part of the charm is the people watching for sure. I've been going here since I was a kid. So glad to see it's still wildly popular and just as hard as ever to find a parking spot. It is one of the first fall events in Tacoma I get excited in which to participate.

I was not expecting duckpin bowling (I didn't do any research before coming here) but it seems ideal for a casual time. No one was really taking the bowling seriously since it was more of an event to get together, eat, and chat, so the duckpin bowling is good for all the kids to just bowl for fun and all the adults to chatter in between. I had some pizza, it was good enough (not cheesy enough for my preference but the taste was adequate). A fun time overall. I'm not inquiring about the price though lol looks a bit too fancy for me.
