XLB 10/10 very flavorful and well done Pork shu mai - big proportions but could be tastier Fried rice - good and well done as is every chinese restaurant I most especially liked their sesame balls, it was hot and crispy. Service was fast and waitresses were quick, too quick almost as to rush you. But overall place is great and the interiors are quite modern. One less star because I feel like their food had quite too much MSG, felt quite dizzy leaving and a bit pricyZ

Very good spot for dumplings! Service was great and the food came out very fast! Spicy pork shrimp wontons (5/5) - SO GOOD! The spicy sauce has the perfect flavor, kind of like din tai fung but better. It's not too spicy, slightly sweet. Compliments the wonton very well. Smacked organic cucumber salad (4/5) - refreshing cucumber salad. Marinade is on the lighter side, but still pretty good Dumpling with pork and napa cabbage (4/5) - Skin is a bit thick in our opinion, but the filling is very tasty and juicy. Original pork soup dumplings (5/5) - very good soup dumplings! The dumpling skin is perfect, thin yet still sturdy enough to be picked up. It's soupy (soup is slightly on the thicker side) and flavorful. And they're a decent size. Mini fried sesame balls (4/5) - these are definitely mini and don't look like the images on their online ordering menu. Still good sesame balls though! Crispy exterior and sweet red bean filling. We are definitely coming back to try their other dishes in the future!

Great spot to drop by with 2-4 friends and share plates! The food was delicious and service was prompt and very friendly. Portions were fair for the current bay area economy. The soup dumplings were delicious, though over $2 each per pc was a bit more than expected, i.e. I thought there'd be more than 6 pc at 14.95. But if you are visiting "My Dumpling," definitely order dumplings! Just be careful, let them cool a few mins upon arrival; don't eat them immediately and burn your tongue with the hot soup inside. 4.5 overall, rounding up.

My husband and I love dumplings, so we decided to stop by for dinner at 8pm on a Saturday evening. We didn't have to wait too long before we were seated in the back. The place was pretty packed inside and seemed a bit chaotic. We ordered and waited about 15 min or so before we got our food. We ordered the pan fried soup dumpling, mini pan fried pork bun, and braised beef noodle soup. Everything was above expectation, especially the dumplings because they were nice and crispy. I would probably skip the noodle soup next time since there wasn't anything special about it. I feel like the food here is authentic based on the quality and the taste. This spot will be on my list to come back again if I'm ever craving dumplings since good restaurants are hard to come by nowadays. It's also located in downtown with lots of restaurants nearby.

Soup dumplings restaurants seem to be popping everywhere in the Bay Area like grass weeds in my back yard so I was naturally skeptical of how good it can be when this restaurant opened recently. I was pleasantly surprised. The place is nicely decorated, clean, and modern. Not only is there a clean restroom but it was actually heated! Not something you find at many Chinese restaurants:) Now on to the food. The original soup dumplings has one of the most broths of any dumplings I've tried. I counted almost 2 soup spoons of soup. The skin was thin. The dumplings were moist, tender and flavorful. The vinegar dipping sauce was solid though I wish there were more ginger. On the downside, one order comes with only six dumplings while other restaurants typically offer more. The crispy dumplings were nicely pan fried with a very crispy bottom. The dumpling was a bit more "doughy" than others I've tried but nevertheless good. Not as much "soup" in the crispy dumpling though. Also tried the spicy wontons which were solid but not hugely memorable. It wasn't too spicy at all but did have a good "mala" taste. They offer a long menu of other items as well including rice and noodles dishes, and I would definitely stop by next time to try them.

Great place with excellent service! The food was delicious, and everything was served very quickly. The staff was polite and attentive, which made the experience even better. We were very satisfied with this place, highly recommend!

We've ordered from My Dumpling many times, and the food is always excellent and consistently delicious--whether dining in or getting takeout. The kids absolutely love the mini pan-fried pork dumplings and the pork soup dumplings. The mini pan-fried dumplings arrive hot and perfectly crispy every time. The pork soup dumplings have beautifully thin skins, just as they should, and they're generous with the accompanying vinegar sauce, which really enhances the flavor. The garden pea shoots are prepared with just the right amount of garlic and maintain a wonderful crunch. Even my kids--who usually avoid green vegetables--enjoy this dish here. My personal favorite dessert is the taro buns. I truly look forward to them every visit--they're perfectly balanced with just the right level of sweetness for my palate. The service here is incredible. That staff are kind, attentive and helpful. The restaurant itself is nice, clean and well lit. Tonight, they were especially kind and gifted my kids some squishy toys for Chinese New Year. I highly recommend My Dumpling!

Exactly what you'd expect! I love any restaurant that's giving Din Tai Fung and this one hits! Big fan of the garlic string beans and also the pan fried SJB - the bottoms were very very crisp and the inside was super soupy. Service was fast, and the food came out in a reasonable time even though this place was poppin' !

Exceptional Chinese restaurant that serves fresh and delicious dumplings (of course), but also xiaolongbao and other dim sum dishes. Best dish is definitely their marinated beef rolls, but their dandan noodles are also really good. The one dish we had to send back was the osmanthus rice wine sesame ball dessert soup, since the glutinous sesame balls were undercooked, and the staff were kind enough to remove it from the bill. Food is prepared quickly and I cannot stress how fresh the ingredients taste with good flavors. Besides the beautiful interior and well-decorated tableware, the staff are very friendly and kind, happily making concessions and ensuring everyone has a good experience.

Simple and enjoyable but nothing crazy outstanding. The restaurant feels like a fast food spot in China - that's a good thing. Pretty authentic. Crowded and lively. The place is clean and feel new. The fried rice 8/10 good but portion small Chow mien 7/810 bit oily Dumplings 7/10 it's ok Soup dumplings 6/10 dough as undercook

3.5 star review. Decent dumpling/chinese restaurant in downtown San Mateo. More than halfway through our meal, we noticed that there was a sticker that was still on the red bell pepper skin...I didn't feel like making a big deal out of it and we had finished 75% of that dish already so we just left the rest of the bell papers. I did point it out to our server at the end just so the kitchen is aware of it going forward. The staff was apologetic and gave us two yogurt drinks on our way out which was nice I guess. In terms of the rest of the food, it was ot bad. Chow mein was pretty standard. I asked for less oily but it was still a bit oily. Mini pan fried buns were juicy and crispy on the outside. The sweet and sour chicken was also crispy.

081725 I told the BFF that I was craving for dumplings and suggested a place closer to her home but she opted to go in San Mateo instead since there are far more spots we can go afterwards. We made sure to time their opening (11 am) so we could avoid the lines. Turned out - great timing for us. We got seated and we ordered. The portion for the pork dumplings were only 6 - it was good - but would opt for more compared to other spots. The mini pan fried dumplings were delicious though be careful when biting - it spurts no joke. Also liked the chicken and corn dumplings were good. BFF ate the salad - it was too spicy for me. Their Vegetable Fried Rice W/ Egg was good, plenty of veggies and nice big proportion. Employees were not on the friendly side but that might be due to variety of reasons but just FYI. Overall, the place is clean and pricing was reasonable.

Runci X.

Nice location that they are in, and really love their crab soup dumplings and some boil dumplings that we have try such as pork with chives dumplings, and chicken corn dumpling, is really delicious. The xiaolongbao have thin skins and are full of flavorful soup, and the filling is fresh and tasty. Each bite is juicy and satisfying. The dumplings are well-made, generously filled, and seasoned just right -- they taste great even without any dipping sauce. Everything is served fresh, The prices are reasonable and the value is excellent. This is definitely a place I would come back to again, and I've recommended it to my friends. Further more, server are friendly and they will keep filling the water even though they are very busy. But anyway, REALLY enjoy having dinner tonight with my family in this place.

Favorite is the pork and lamb skewers!! Love the chinese-style seasoning. Expect to spend 30+/person to be full, each skewer is around 2-3 dollars. Ambiance is a fancy chinese restaurant vibe.

The interior is cute and themed like China in olden times. I liked how the food was served on long platters with little candles underneath to keep everything warm, which made sharing easy. Two of my friends were trying Chinese skewers for the first time. We ordered everything through a QR code, and the system was straightforward. The menu being visual online helped made ordering easier. The food came out in good timing. The staff was helpful whenever we had questions about what certain items were. Water refills were easy to flag down. The cucumber salad was a huge portion and so refreshing. We wish the cold potato salad was a bit softer (it was crunchy). We didn't find anything too spicy. For the skewers, everything was juicy and well-seasoned. The flavoring was great. My personal favorites were the beef and lamb sticks which were tender. We also tried items like gristle, gizzard, and gluten (yum!) We ended up spending a little over $30 per person after tax and tip. Overall, this was a fun group meal and I'm glad it was a good introduction for my friends who hadn't tried this style of skewers before. I'd recommend it!

The broth tasted better, the noodles were higher quality, and the beef was also much more tender and had less gristle. it made me wonder if it was a fluke or if this location was just that much better as this restaurant was also much more crowded versus the other locations. From the first visit, it was clear this isn't an "Americanized Chinese restaurant," but a place that truly understands Chinese cooking, technique, and flavor. What impressed me most were the mushroom dishes. Being able to enjoy mushrooms with such depth and complexity in the U.S. is already rare. The aroma isn't built from heavy seasoning, but from the ingredients themselves, fully brought out. The flavors are clean, natural, and incredibly fragrant--the kind that lingers and keeps you wanting more. It immediately brought back memories of authentic Yunnan flavors. Even more impressive were some of the seemingly ordinary stir-fried dishes. At first glance, they look simple, almost unassuming. One bite in, though, and you instantly understand what real wok hei is. That smoky, high-heat flavor can only come from a skilled chef using proper equipment and precise timing. It's not greasy or overpowering--just deeply aromatic and perfectly balanced. Simple, yet elevated. Overall, this is a restaurant that doesn't rely on gimmicks, fancy plating, or social-media hype. Everything is driven by pure technique and respect for ingredients. Each dish has a clear identity and leaves a lasting impression--not something you just photograph and forget, but something you actually remember. In the Bay Area, where Chinese restaurants are everywhere but truly great ones are rare, Ping's Bistro is a place I'd gladly return to again and again. There's also a great variety, so it's easy to customize your bowl exactly how you like it. I went with the Szechuan classic soup base, and it was honestly one of the most authentic versions I've had outside of China. The broth had a deep, rich flavor with that perfect balance of spice and the signature numbing Sichuan peppercorn kick. It wasn't just spicy for the sake of it--it had real depth and complexity. Another highlight is the value. If you spend over $20, you get free dessert, and they offer coconut milk sago and bingfen. Both are super refreshing and help cool things down after the heat from the malatang, which is a really nice touch. Overall, it's well worth the price for the quality you're getting.
