In conversations before the bris, I knew that my friend was nervous about the process, the ceremony, and the actual circumcision. I can say with confidence that Dr. Rumbak put the family's mind at ease both with her expertise and her gentle approach. As a "spectator" at the ceremony, Dr. Rumbak passed around sheets so we can all follow along and feel part of the ceremony, and explained what different blessings meant. She also added some Jewish text in a modern and relevant way, which I appreciated, and my family continued to discuss post ceremony. The sweet baby did super well and was calm throughout the entire process. Truthfully, I didn't even know when the actual circumcision actually happened because she was so gentle and discrete. At the end of the ceremony, many people went up to Dr. Rumbak to compliment her on one of the best brit mila's they ever went to, and many asked for her card (including my mom for our temple!). She has a great business partner in Shachar, who socialized with the guests of the ceremony, kept everything organized, and was just an all around stand up guy. Oh, and how great that she is a mohel AND a doctor. Talk about putting your mind at ease..that will definitely do it. Highly recommend.

Dr. Rumbak deserves credit and thanks for her discretion in not circumcising our son the day of his bris due to a urological condition she noticed in her ore-ceremony examination. We are thankful for that. She performed what essentially worked out to a baby naming ceremony for us. Obviously the day was emotional to begin with and the news she couldn't circumcise was extremely disappointing and heartbreaking since this was a day we looked forward to for so long. In the days after the bris we were able to absorb the events better and realized exactly what happened. To begin with, my wife asked for a program to keep as they were being collected (yes, collected), and the response was, "I collect them." She said the same to my mom (baby's grandma). We consider this ridiculous - even if the baby's grandparents couldn't have one, at least the parents should. When I emailed Dr. Rumbak about the issue I'm about to describe, I also mentioned the program and that part of my email was left unaddressed. Here's the major problem, though. We paid $800 for a circumcision plus $150 for travel from Manhattan to Nassau. We were happy to do this because we really liked Dr. Rumbak on the phone. However, after the bris, we had a bit of a realization that really irked us. Why were we never offered any kind of refund for the circumcision not being performed? It really should have been offered that day, on the spot, but it wasn't. Days and weeks turned to months and we still were never offered anything. We didn't even get an email or phone call to check on our son given the medical issue Dr. Rumbak identified. This was surprising given the emotional nature of the day but also because part of Dr. Rumbak's service (advertised on her web site and vouched for in her reviews) is her frequent follow up with the family. Finally after a few months, I emailed her explaining we feel we are owed some kind of refund due to the most critical part of the ceremony, the circumcision, not being performed. It is that expertise for which we paid. Dr. Rumbak issued a $200 refund, saying that the rate for a baby naming is $600. It's unfortunate such a beautiful day was soured by the experience we had. As new parents we feel we were, in a way, taken advantage of. Dr. Rumbak did ultimately give some money back, but we feel we shouldn't have had to ask. Experiences like this are what make people cynical about organized religion. The right thing to do would have been to give us a refund without us having to ask. We would not recommend her.

I had an accident 2 fridays ago. I missed a step and landed all my weight on the right side of my…read morefoot. Panicking I went to my doctor who sent me for X-rays and it turned out to be a non-displaced fracture. She gave me advice to care for the fracture and wrote a referral to Dr Katz for follow up. I had that appointment approx 2 weeks after the accident. During my appointment Dr Kato didn't touch my foot to see if it was still swollen or even take a look at it. All I was asked was to take an X-ray which I had to balance myself to step the right bad foot up. When the X-rays were developed he said the fracture is healing nicely and to come back if needed. Comes time to bill for services I see office visit ok x-ray ok and then treatment of fracture. Dr Katz never even touched my foot or even ace bandaged the foot but claimed he treated the fracture. I called the office to have that explained and that ended in a yelling match and he told me to call the insurance company. I called the insurance company which called his office asking to speak to billing. The girl puts the doctor on the phone on a recorded conversation again there was a yelling match about him rendering treatment and during this recorded conversation Dr Katz called me unstable and nasty. Talk about professionalism . I simply stated my doctor was the one that told me to ice for 15 minutes, rx anti-inflammatory/pain meds and truly rendered treatment. Dr Katz said oh now you are a doctor when I said I came in with a non-displaced fracture. I said no that was a diagnosis that my doctor from the X-rays she had me take abs the results said so. All in all this white doctor had no respect in a black community to keep me as a patient which I made clear. I was insulted and Dr Katz is clearly taking advantage over charging. Stay clear of this business. I had a hair line fracture yrs ago on the same foot and repeat business to the place that diagnosed this non-displaced fracture but Dr Katz you have lost a patient. AR
