Explaining how perfumes are made up of the base, heart & head notes, there seemed to be hundreds of bottles containing different smells We started with the base note & I chose my favorite 4, their expert chose the mixing amounts and e continued to build from there until I had my very own perfume Needs to macerate for the next 3 weeks but from what I can tell so far, I rocked this! I can't wait to wear my very own scent, designed and named by me! My formula is stored there so whenever I want to reorder or change to perfume, shower gel shampoo or whatever product they offer, I can get it in MY scent How awesome is that?!

Since Cannes is much more devoid of tourists during off-peak season, and also not particularly known for its museums, it was lovely to enjoy the tower and most of the museum by myself on a brisk sunny weekday morning. Most of the exhibits center around ethnographic findings from French explorers in the 19th century, including articles and artifacts from Oceania, Africa, and the Mediterranean. Currently another exhibition towards the back few rooms showcases paintings following Nice through its development from fishing town to bustling port city. Note the tower requires climbing up a rather steep set of stairs to a small (maybe 8x8 foot area) on top which aside from the wall of the tower doesn't have any other railing or enclosure. So not recommended for little children unless they're strapped to you. Aside from stairs there's no other access so a) if you have a mobile disability it will not be accessible, b) the staircase is quite narrow inside and because the steps are wooden planks, you can see between each step, which may make it challenging for those with a fear of heights. Separately since part of the stairs run outside the tower, and the top of the tower is not covered, if there is inclement weather access to the top may be restricted.

The museum has a medieval tower that offers a 360 degree view - if you want to climb 109 steps! In my humble opinion, it really is worth it, even for those of us who don't like heights! I think we paid about 12€ each to go into the museum, which I think, for the view alone, was worth it. The museum is pretty small, so I wouldn't allocate more than an hour to it - unless you're a really, really big history buff and can understand French. All the info was in French, so it made it a bit hard for us to really enjoy it as much as I would've another museum. Still, it was nice to walk around and take a look at the historical artifacts that they had on display.

From farm to bottle, learn how it's made here! And as Grasse is home to a huge perfume market, there was heavy focus on the local farms and the people who labor tirelessly in the fields to produce thousands and thousands of flowers each year- props to you! Tons of different perfume bottles, vials and holders. Vanity cases, furniture, applicators, references to perfume in movies & the importance it played in hygiene before the modern bathrooms & washing with water, were setup Plaques offered in French, English and Italian made it easy to follow along and learn a ton. Thank you for the afternoon learning about perfume. We thought we'd only be there for an hour or 2 but we found ourselves forcing a hurried departure after 3hours so we could make another appointment. We could have stayed longer!

Second, they take you through perfume making from the start to finish of manufacturing and bottling, and they show a comprehensive history of perfume and cologne! There's so much to wonder about: I found myself thinking how similar perfume making was to writing a symphony---you start with a few notes and ideas and try to mesh them in a way that people will enjoy. Nothing here is accidental. There are a few multimodal art installations as well (one where you can smell a perfume and look at art, one where you listen to a jazz song and smell perfumes, etc.) There's also a great garden where you can learn what sorts of aromatic plants and other things go into perfume. The history itself is fairly interesting, and the exhibit does a great job at holding your hand through the development of perfume over time. This is one of the coolest and most interesting museums I've been to. Thank you for the information and newfound appreciation of perfume!
