Prior to wine tasting a good root beer to quench my thirst
Susan S.

As we headed to wine taste in St. Helena we made a sharp left turn into Mustards Grill for lunch. Kristie the hostess was so kind to find us a great table after waiting a few minutes since we didn't have reservations. The place was hopping. Mustards grill has a true California wine country feel. All seating is close to each other. The chatter is loud but acceptable because this place must be a landmark by now. It opened in the 1980's and still going strong. We ordered the Ahi burger it was delicious and it came with large amount of fries we also ordered 2 non-alcoholic sodas that went well with the meal. The portion was great we skipped dessert but observed others and they serve hefty portions of dessert. Maybe next time. Mustards Grill is a very Joyful restaurant, perhaps with all the yellow decor, it shines like the sun. All employees were great from Kristie, Eliana, 2 bussers and our waitress which I didn't catch her name til I saw it on the receipt. We will be back with a favorite bottle of Napa wine of our choice. They charge a $35 corkage fee or an endless wine list. Put since we live in Wine Country we know our wines.

Several people had recommended this restaurant and we had to try it before leaving Napa. The servers were very attentive to our needs, the food was deliciously tasty with a nice ambiance. I highly recommend their famous Mongolian Pork Chops, their dark chocolate sorbet and Pineapple Upside Down cake -- yummy!

The sign on the front of the store does not lie. Get the pork chops or you'll regret it. Seriously, where do I even start? The pork chop melts in your mouth like butter. Cooked perfectly, with beautiful char marks and incredible juiciness, every bite bursts with flavor. It honestly felt like I was eating the pork chop version of köttbullar. Look it up kids. The perfect bite was a mash-up of potatoes, pork chop, and cabbage. See what I did there? Mash-up. I'll be here all day. And I can't forget the onion straws. OMG. Crispy, lightly salted -- just enough to keep you reaching for more without overdoing it. Absolute perfection. I'm already picturing myself sitting at the bar enjoying this meal again. Make reservations. I got lucky snagging a bar seat, but the place was packed -- and for good reason. If I lived in the area, this spot would feel like home. Take my advice and check this place out. Cheers!

The duck, lamb, calamari, crab cake were delicious. The dessert was delicious. The service was great. But the pork chop was not so impressed. The meat tasted sour. Meat was too hard to chew. Noise level in the restaurant was a little bit high. So we had to shout to each other on our table. Otherwise, I would give it a five stars.

This place is absolutely amazing! Ambience: The exterior was unassuming but the inside was colorfully decorated with unique art pieces. Classy but with relaxed and happy vibes. Service: The hostess and servers were warm and welcoming. They remembered it's our anniversary and reserved a beautiful and spacious seating for us. Gave us complimentary wine and split all the appetizers into halves for us to share. What a thoughtful gesture! Food: So unique and wonderfully executed! Their famous pork chop was worth all the hype! We also loved the black bean tortilla soup, corn tamales, 3 greens salad, the oven smoked duck, lime tart dessert and a flight of Pinot. Everything was busting with creative and delicious flavors! Will definitely dine here again! Thank you for making our anniversary feel so special!

Finally we got to try this place. We didn't have a reservation but they still accommodated us. But next time I will make a reservation. Ambiance was great. Staff were friendly. Our server was helpful. Now for the food. The calamari were delicious. It's like a calamari salad. We loved the cornbread. It was also delicious. The Ahi sandwich was ok. Overall our experience was good. We will definitely be back.

We decided to go to Napa/St Helena for the after the holidays on a Funday Sunday! We drove all around through all of our favorite wineries. After all the fun, we chose Mustards Grill before heading home. When we arrived, we noticed an archway with a Christmas tree in the middle. We stopped to admire a beautiful garden. There is an area that looked like the outdoor garden dining. We said we needed to come back when it warms up to enjoy a meal with a beautiful view! As we entered, we were greeted with a smile and cheerful voice. At first, we were offered a seat in the bar area. We opted to wait for a table. There's nothing wrong with the bar area. We just needed a more comfortable seating for our bad backs!! We ordered the famous Mongolian Pork Chop and the Swordfish Tostada. Both meals were delicious. The sweet and sour red cabbage was excellent and a nice compliment to the pork chop. Our server was kind and helpful with all of our questions. He checked in and refilled our glass like clockwork. Overall, a very nice experience. We will come back and try other menu options soon. Ample parking. Friendly staff.

LOVED this place! We were on a Girl's trip to Napa and one in our group had been here more than 20 years ago and every time we drove by, she said, "we've got to go there!" Well reservations were tough to get so we made this our final lunch stop as we were heading out of Napa to the airport. We were promptly seated and began to look at the menu. Our server, Dana, was great and when she saw us eyeballing all the other tables to see what looked good- she suggested we just order a range of things and share. And that's exactly what we did! We had the Ahi and crackers, ribs, wings, onion rings, and tamales and a truffle tart for dessert. All came up quickly and all were delicious although know before you go that the onion rings are more like onion strings so it you are expecting thick onion rings you may be disappointed. Throw in a few drinks and we were happy campers! I'm definitely going to put Mustards Grill at the top of my list the next time I am in Napa! It is definitely a place both locals and tourists head to.

This was a good place to get something to before our afternoon of wine tasting began. We got some tasty food in a timely fashion. The cornbread was delightful and should not be missed.

Cheers from Napa!

I love Mustards Grill for these three reasons: The food is so delicious, the food is so delicious, and lastly the food is so delicious!;) Since 1983 Cindy P. has been welcoming guests to world famous Napa Valleys Mustards Grill. Delicious food, elevated customer service, and ambiance like no other. Without question one of my favorite restaurants in Napa Valley. We recently celebrated a friend's milestone birthday and, of course, she chose Mustards Grill as her place to eat. She loves it too. When you open the doors to enter Mustards, you instantly hear the familiar sounds of happy chatting, laughing, and being greeted by a smiling host. Every single time it is like that. Joyful. And this was no different. Our reservation was acknowledged. We were advised our table would be ready in about 10 minutes. We were early because it is always nice to head over to the bar for a glass of something before we sit and dine and just enjoy the moment. And that we did. Hannah was busy making drinks but immediately made eye contact and said she would be right with us. We were lucky and found the last four seats at the bar. She did her thing and soon we all had our libations and a toast to the birthday girl. Mustards is not a large restaurant. It is cozy and intimate. The decor is trendy sophistication. Lots of windows bringing in light. Allowing customers to enjoy the peaceful Napa Valley scenery. Soon our table was ready. The hour and 45 minute drive had made us hungry. We were licking our chops! Speaking of chops... the Mongolian pork chop is famous. Okay... everything is famous but this is an extra famous item :-) But of course we started with appetizers. Birthday girl wanted the signature honey cornbread and mac and cheese. Oh yeah! We enjoyed finishing our drinks while having the standout apps. Leisurely dining all the way. Our waitperson was so chill. We really appreciated that. And took the best care of us. Thank you. Dwight! We gave our entrèe orders...two pork chops with sweet and sour red cabbage (yup those famous ones) and two hamburgers with famous Model bakery buns and MG famous onion rings. Everything arrived together as always with help from the staff. Everything was fabulous. Perfectly executed and seasoned just right. Always is. No photos... sorry. Too busy eating. But you can check the business photos for these tantalizing dishes and others. We ended the meal with a warm chocolate hazelnut truffle tart with caramel sauce and coffee expresso ice cream. And 4 spoons. Heavenly! The perfect ending for the birthday girl. If you find yourself in the Napa Valley... you must come here! Trust me.

Robert B.

I love their interesting menu items. I went with the Quail and Duck. Delicious! I had the Lemon/Lime tart with a mile high meringue for dessert.

Lemon garlic chicken

The lemon garlic chicken was phenomenal. The skin was crispy full of flavor and moist Chicken. The honey cornbread was to die for. Calamari was very good but very different than expected, more like a salad but highly recommend.

Elizabeth S.

It was a long, fun day of wine tasting with family visiting from the South of France, and we were all looking forward to dinner. We started with Little Gem Caesar and fig burrata--both beautifully presented and bursting with fresh flavors that truly showcased the kitchen's attention to detail. For the main courses, we had the Famous Mongolian Pork Chop which was perfectly cooked--juicy and tender --and the (special) --vegetable risotto was rich, creamy, and satisfying without being heavy. We also enjoyed espresso martinis the much anticipated --Famous Lemon-Lime Tart. The service was attentive and made us feel genuinely cared for. The ambiance was welcoming but a bit loud -a lot of added noise from large dining groups with several screaming children that lasted through most of our dining. However, our server as well as the staff maneuvered the added noise with professionalism. Our ears-however- had to recover.

The prix fixe menu is $69 and includes their signature fried chicken along with appetizers and sides. They also offer daily add-ons, and since we arrived starving, we couldn't resist ordering a few extras. Portions are very generous--so much so that we ended up with plenty of leftovers (which definitely came in clutch later that night!). I'm not exaggerating when I say Thomas Keller and his team truly deliver. The fried chicken was hands down the best I've ever had--perfectly juicy on the inside with an incredibly crispy, flavorful crust. The house-made chips with sour cream dip were absolutely addictive.

We…read morecame here for my birthday dinner, seating was very quick, initial service was prompt and we were looking forward to the pre fixe menu. We ordered a couple drinks from the bar which were brought over to our table, our waiter went over the menu and how the pre fixe meal would proceed. For our starter, we had the Garden snap peas salad. The idea of fresh ingredients of carrots, frisee, arugula, and the Hobbs bacon was going to create a bounty of flavors, but fell short as our salad was doused heavily with dressing. The dressing completely overpowered the vegetables, did not compliment them as anticipated, leaving a very sour/bitter taste after every bite. Even the table next to us felt the dressing was overpowering. For our next course, we ordered the French onion dip and kettle chips appetizer, this was a solid pick! This appetizer was more than enough for two people, actually way too much for both of us, but enjoyed the dip very much. This is where the service began to slow down. We were almost done with our appetizer platter, needing some water refills and a fresh beverage, and felt like a very long time from when we received our appetizer until our waiter came back to us. For context, it had been almost an hour since we initially sat down, ate our salad and appetizer. I know this may be a slow paced meal, but felt overly long before we even got to our main course. For the main course, we had the pork chops. Well portioned for both of us, very tender, but lacked that nice grilled char we personally like. I assume the pork chops were sous vide and then finished lightly on the grill top to give the char and grill marks. Overall good, but not the wow we were anticipating for tonight's meal. Next up was the apple, crisp, dessert, which was OK and underwhelmed. We skipped the cheese and pretzel plate and asked them to put it in a to go box as we were already approaching two hours into our meal. Our experience may not be typical, but for a very expensive Friday night dinner, we felt it could've been spent elsewhere and would have had a better value overall.

I usually prefer sitting outside, but due to the wind, we chose to sit indoors. Since it was later in the evening, we opted for a lighter dinner. My husband and I both ordered the sautéed petrale sole with wild rice, spinach, and lemon herb beurre blanc. Unfortunately, I would rate this dish a 2 out of 5. The sauce lacked flavor, and I couldn't taste the lemon herb beurre blanc at all. It also felt like there wasn't enough sauce, and although we asked for lemon, it never arrived. That said, the ambiance is still a 5 out of 5. The setting is beautiful, and they have a great selection of wine. We've been here multiple times, and this was our only disappointing experience. The grounds are gorgeous -- the outdoor seating area, the tasting tables, the garden and obviously the vines. What a great location! We started with the crudité which was fantastic. As basic as this dish can be -- everything was fresh, crisp, cold, and the sesame miso black garlic dipping sauce was wonderful. We also grabbed the tuna tartare and I had the soup du jour which was a divine garlic & parmesan soup. The soup was excellent -- perfect amount of garlic without being overpowering, really well-balanced and smooth, and the parmesan added the perfect little bite. For entrees, my wife and youngest split the chicken parmesan sandwich, my 15 year old went with the filet mignon with asparagus and mac n' cheese, and I did the seabass (duh) with coconut rice and a lobster hot & sour broth. The chicken parmesan was "good" -- nothing special according to the ladies, but the truffle fries made them quite happy. The filet was "excellent" -- perfectly cooked, a nice mushroom cream sauce, and the veggies and mac n' cheese were tasty. My dish was the highlight -- seabass perfectly cooked, rice was great, and the lobster broth was exceptional. I basically licked the plate. We were totally full for our "light" lunch -- but had to dive in on the desserts based on how good everything was. The GF Chocolate torte was unreal -- SO RICH -- we only ate 1/2 of it between the 4 of us -- but was great. The rice pudding got a "solid" score from the ladies and the cheesecake was awesome. It was really a great meal -- good bar scene -- will definitely work it into our rotation going forward.

However, a very humiliating experience happened to me at a restaurant (not Rutherford Grill) that had me vomiting ( thank God on the floor) a truly embarrassing situation! So, it had been recommended by my health practitioner to have pro biotic drinks, rather then a soft drinks. My friend and I went to Rutherford bar and grill once a week. On this particular evening, we were seated, I asked for a glass of ice for my pro biotic drink which I took out of my purse (I bought it at Wholefoods minutes prior to going to restaurant ) She immediately said you can not bring your own beverage inside. I showed her my un-opened bottle,"it's lemon ginger for my stomach disorder its not alcoholic". I respectively pointed to the bottle. She kindly departed and said that she would get back to me on whether or not I could drink it, after speaking with her supervisor. Meanwhile roughly 10 or fifteen minutes had passed and the gal never got back to myself and my friend seated at the table. Fifteen minutes later, a tall attractive women (possibly 40 to 45 years of age) with a white chef top and black pants came to our table. She had long black straight hair and fiery red lipstick. She came to our table, and asked, if there was anything we needed. I was surprised and asked, "are you a chef? this is unusual your coming to our table". She ignored my question, and asked again, "was there anything we needed?' I explained that my friend had ordered her drink already and that I had asked for a glass of ice. "by this time close to twenty minutes had passed since the gal said she'd ask her supervisor) So, my thought was "oh I guess I can drink my pro biotic". So, my friend got her alcoholic beverage and a glass of ice was brought to me. I poured my drink into my ice filled glass and took one sip...when miss tall attractive women with the chef uniform approaches me..sadly her expression was jealousy and happiness as she spoke to me as though she was "getting off", on telling a genuinely kind and tall blonde woman, "give me your drink" my friend and I were shocked! I explained its a pro biotic for my stomach challenges, its not alcohol." She smiled a fake smile and said "hand it to me, beverages are not allowed to be brought into our restaurant!" tears pricked at my eyes out of shock and embarrassment, because fellow patrons were looking at me like I had done something wrong. I said..."well then can I go outside and drink it? this was an expensive drink for my stomach, I just bought it had Wholefoods a few minutes ago." She sternly said, "No. Consider this a warning or never come back again!", as she reached over me and took my bottle and my glass away! My experience was beyond humiliating. Needless to say we did not eat dinner their and my friend did not drink her margarita. I am a Spiritual life Coach. I value and love, treating people with compassion and respect. Jealousy is ugly, no matter how attractive a women may be! Needless to say my friends and myself after several years of eating there: have never returned. This situation happened 4 months ago. I felt it was time to express my feelings.

Really enjoyed our time at Lucy. We stopped in for a quick breakfast on our way out wine tasting. I…read morehad the Morning Sun drink, Tagine and side of fruit and all of it was wonderful. Service was good, a bit slow but I think that fits the vibe of this place. The ambiance is truly where this place shines. It's the perfect peaceful spot for a relaxed breakfast. The surrounding views are gorgeous and you feel completely serene here. Next time I am in Napa or staying at the Bardessono Lucy will be my staple breakfast spot.

A good server will always point out a split fee if the restaurant has one. She never said a word. $20.00 down the drain. We would not have asked to have our salads split. 2. We were charged for an additional entree that we didn't order. $32.00. We had to dispute this and was not as straight forward as it should have been. 3. Our served never came by to ask how our meals were. Small thing, but still important. 4. In my job, I have entertained multiple times with 6 people or more. Good establishments always always always the server will point out if a gratuity is always included. Again not a word from the server. We were all very disappointed. I would never tip her 20% for the service we received. This is why a 20% automatic gratuity should never be mandatory. Please not on the attached receipt that had deducted the additional Casareccia Bolognese that was originally added. It gives me no pleasure to write this review. We were all hoping for a much different experience.

The French Laundry lives up to its reputation. It is not just a meal, it is a full scale culinary…read moreproduction. It's something you must experience once! Chef Thomas Keller is known for precision, discipline, and an almost obsessive attention to detail. His style is refined, technical, and rooted in classic French technique, elevated with modern creativity. Every course reflects that philosophy, clean flavors, flawless execution, and zero shortcuts. The restaurant holds three Michelin stars, the highest distinction, and has been considered one of the best restaurants in the world for many years. We secured a reservation for four at 7:00 PM, which in itself feels like an achievement. There are not many tables for two, so getting a reservation for a pair is extremely difficult. The best approach is to try for a reservation of four or more for the main dining room. Larger groups may find private dining easier to book. The evening runs long, over four hours. It is not rushed at all. By around the sixth course, I was already full, but the progression keeps you engaged. Each dish is small but rich, layered, and intentional. They add additional complimentary courses to the experience! The experience starts in the waiting area inside the restaurant with a welcome toast. Once seated, you are given personalized menus, which adds a thoughtful touch. At the end, they send you home with custom cookies and a chocolate bar, small details that reinforce the experience. For my birthday, they went further, surprising me with a bottle of sparkling wine engraved with my name. That level of personalization felt genuine. Logistics were straightforward. Parking was easy, we parked across the street. The dinner was prepaid through Tock, which simplifies the process. There are also optional add ons to the tasting menu, like truffle mac and cheese and wagyu beef. Tip is already included and you can add additional tip if you desire! They are also flexible with dietary needs, one person in our group was vegetarian, and the kitchen accommodated seamlessly without compromising quality. Overall, it is one of the best dining experiences of my life and I will definitely go back again. I would choose an earlier reservation next time so dinner does not run so late into the night. Everything is exceptional from start to finish. Cool fact: Governor Gavin Newsom was caught eating here during the COVID lockdowns! You will see many celebrities dining according to our hostess, which is no big deal for someone from Southern California!

At a young age, she has been fascinated with cooking and interested with how chefs live and work. We were so fortunate to get a spot for her birthday. The atmosphere, meticulous service, intentional thought in making art out of food impressed me so much. Thank you so much for the memorable experience and amazing food. The experience made our daughter feel extra special on her big day.
