After spending several months looking for a wedding dress last year. I happened to be browsing…read morewhile on holiday in Spain and came across Pilar Marcos on the Ricardo Soriano, 40 in Marbella. After looking around the shop, especially downstairs, I came across some of the most beautifully designed dresses I have ever seen. I was not looking for a traditional dress, but something different!! It is 35 degrees, the sun is shining, and everything looks fantastic in the summer sun. So how do you explain that you are living in Holland where it is more cold than warm. The wedding will take place in December, so all kinds of weather conditions are possible. With some translation work from Carlotta Martin Rubiera (creative designer) I was able to give Pilar, some idea of what I wanted. Armed with a tape measure, Pilar took all my measurements and made a few sketches in her note book. not too wide, a little shorter, a lower neckline. sleeves to the elbow a bow here a button there.... too much detail to absorb!!!
As we were leaving in a few days it was not possible to try on the outfit before going home. However, I paid my deposit with confidence and went home to make the last preparations for the wedding.
Finally the box arrived.. I unwrapped everything carefully and cried with joy as I unfolded the most beautiful outfit I have ever owned. A beautiful dress, matching coat, shoes and handbag - All designed by Pilar Marcos.
The day of the wedding was 'code orange' weather conditions in the Netherlands. 20 cm of snow and no chance of any change. Luckily for us all the guests arrived at our winter wonderland location, the Hunting lodge in Rozendaal.
The compliments on my outfit are still ringing in my ears....fantastic, gorgeous, elegant, magnificent. Everyone wanted to know about 'my personal designer'.
I had thought to keep you as my secret Pilar, but you deserve a mention here for not only ensuring that I was perfectly dressed for a wonderful day but your creativity and design deserve the highest applause!!
I am very thankful of the day I walked into Ricardo Soriano 40, it changed my life. I have since been back to have dresses and outfits made, for my special Birthday, gala events that I attend on business, or just simply a beautiful dress to wear when my husband takes me to dinner or other special occassion. All of Pilar's creations, make me feel like a million dollars and keeps people guessing about where I buy my dresses.
Thank you Pilar for your creativity and design your attention to details and knowing always what will look good on me. I have found a friend in you and not forgetting all the many hours of personal assistance from Carlota Martin Rubiera.
