Museum Treptow: a hidden gem. Their exhibit on German colonialism and the 1896 Great Industrial Exposition of Berlin is absolutely riveting.
For this exhibit the museum worked extensively with Initiative Schwarze Menschen in Deutschland e.V. (Initiative of Black People in Germany) and the Berlin Postkolonial e.V. (Berlin Postcolonial) to create an exhibit that honored the Africans from former German colonies who were literally put on display as part of this 1896 Exposition. Hands down, best tour (the tour guide was also exceptionally passionate and really created an engaging narrative) and exhibit I've seen--a really integral stop to understanding Berlin history! read more
