For…read morethose who don't know, José Guadalupe Posada was a Mexican political printmaker who used relief printing to produce popular illustrations. His work has influenced numerous Latin American artists and cartoonists because of its satirical acuteness and social engagement. He used skulls, calaveras, and bones to show political and cultural critiques. There is a lot of history in the museum, with several displays that seem to hold original newspapers from the Mexican Revolution. The museum is small but packed with a lot of prints. A couple of notes. Cash is only accepted to get in, and they do charge an additional 30 pesos if you take pictures. I highly recommend doing a frottage over some replica prints to take home a picture or two. The printing press in the back of the museum is super cool and is from the United States. There is also one inside as well. All in all, I recommend Museo Jose Guadalupe Posada as a step back in time during the building of Mexico's Republic

They were forced to work in the mine under harsh conditions, with some estimates suggesting up to five people died daily from accidents, tuberculosis, or silicosis It was originally called "Mina San Eligio" but became know as "Mina del Eden" due to the massive amount of minerals found. The large quantities of silver and gold from El Edén flooded the European market, leading to the closure of numerous mines in Europe and the loss of many jobs. It was also a signficant source of wealth for Mexico Today, the mine is open for tourism and very inexpensive for a visit. The guides are very well educated about the history and it brings light to the horrific working conditions that the miners endured while working there. Even though the water below looks clear, it is polluted with mineral extracts and the chemicals. Highly unlikely you would survive from the fall, you wouldn't survive being in the water. Make sure to stop by and see Roche! He's waiting for you to say hello. The Mina El Eden is an amazing viist and highly recommended.

A lot of information is available in English especially if it's text. The museum has a beautiful and outstanding photo archive facilitated by the Colettes from the 70s. Seeing these made me feel very nostalgic because time is going by so fast and Huichol homeland is drastically modernizing. The museum is also trying virtual reality which when combined with Huichol turns to be pleasantly psychedelic. The museum gift shop has a good range of Huichol art handmade and digital.

I wish the collection included more work by Mexican painters, but it's a relatively small place, and it does a great job! If I lived in Leon, I would visit regularly. If you are a tourist, must visit, and say "hi" to Max in the bookstore. He likes to speak English.

Easy to find, inexpensive to visit, it will take you about an hour and a half to discover more of Rivera's life and work. Open daily 10am-7pm, Sundays - 10am-3pm. Closed Mondays! Lots of personal objects on display, furniture and art created by the artist, in an intimate display since this was the place his was born. Very nice place, not crowded when we visited, so it made it for a pleasant time. I was very happy to be able to check it out and learn more about the great Mexican muralist artist!

In other words, great for those with short attention spans. Until he was 6 Diego Rivera lived in the house in which this museum is situated. Here you can see the rooms he once played in and view a collection of his works though nothing large-scale like the murals for which he really gained renown. In addition to Diego's works (which you're not permitted to photograph) in many art genres, there are a couple of other art installations. On this visit the most interesting of these was the very top floor which featured the work of Guanajuato artists whose work I'd have enjoyed a whole museum being filled with. There's a lot of stairs to navigate here but an elevator if you cannot do so. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Guanajuato and enjoy museums and/or Diego Rivera. And, if they know you speak only English they'll screen a 7-minute film, in English, telling you more about the space and the featured artists.
