My husband and I visited the Museo de la Luz this past week when we were visiting Merida over the Thanksgiving holiday. The museum is new (I think!), part of the new Gran Parque La Plancha! The museum explores color and light (through science and art)! Our Spanish isn't great, and it's not a great museum for those of us tourists who aren't fluent in Spanish! From what I could gather, there was an immersive experience that they didn't recommend for visitors who aren't fluent in Spanish, but they explained there were three other rooms we could visit. The two upstairs were very small, and we only spent a couple of minutes in each. Fortunately, an employee of the museum walked around the largest exhibition room (a post-COVID look at disease spread prevention which aims to educate children on the science of diseases and proper hygiene to help avoid the spread of disease), which was really kind of him and really helped us to get more out of the experience. The museum is on the small side, and I think it really is designed for fluent Spanish speakers only! It's not free, but the cost is minimal if you do want to check it out! read more
