We were only able to do a very quick trip to the museum before we had to fly out, but within the course of an hour, we were able to have a great walk through the (humid) jungle archeological site seeing the various buildings and the temple while also avoiding the tons of wild iguanas running around the path. They did a great job keeping the trail clean and well marked to make sure you don't stray off or get lost. Signage is in both English and Spanish so you can learn about the various structures and their meaning/purpose. It was great being able to see these ancient structures and learn about the rich culture of the area. We then did a speed run through the museum. And, honestly, I'm glad we didn't have much time for that. It was so hot and humid and the building's air conditioning was broken so even if we wanted to spend time there, it would have been so uncomfortable the entire time. There are countless artifacts both from the dig site outside and throughout Mexico and tons of resources to learn about the history of the Mayan people, but the vast majority of the signs are in Spanish only. So, if you cannot read the language, you might find yourself missing out on a lot of the information. But, honestly, everything on display is so fascinating, I think you would still get plenty out of just looking at the items not being 100% sure what it was you were looking at. I just wish the A/C was working. In all, this museum is small, but it packs so much within its grounds. I would absolutely say this is a must visit location if you are staying at any of the resorts in the area. And I can't wait to come back on our next trip &, hopefully, be able to spend a longer, more comfortable time in the actual museum portion of the space.

Mayan ruins on the Cancun Hotel Strip! Muy authentico!…read more This place is pretty sweet. It's a cool building, with cool architecture, but not too terribly practical. You have to get all the way to the top floor to see the exhibits. At the ticket booth reads a sign, "The galleries are hot. We have no air condition. No refunds." They were right. The gallery is up on the third floor. No, the elevator didn't work. Instead they had a corkscrew ramp that sent me going round and round and round in circles to get to the hot gallery at the top. The gallery was pretty small, with some pretty cool artifacts, and a human skull, with some awesome carvings, and some jewelry. All Mayan. So cool. There's also a temporary exhibit that had portraits of working Mexicans posing in the photos with the tools of their trades. Outside, is a super fun nature walk along an improved trail that takes you past several small ruins (one with painting still in the interior). The path terminates at a half pyramid that you can walk around, but not up. There's a small bookstore that seems lacking at the exit. It's a fun, fairly inexpensive way to get some art and culture on your trip to Cancun, to get to see ruins without having to go way out into the jungle is pretty special.

The great thing about this "museum" is you can see it diving, obviously, but also snorkeling, and even in those boats with the underwater view decks. You cannot beat this dive experience, because you can get so unclose and personal, but if diving isn't your thing, it still worth it to go snorkel or on a boat tour. i know this isn't your typical shipwreck, as I'm usually not a fan of "intentionally sunken" wrecks to dive at, but this was still so awesome even though it was intentionally put there. I mean these statues would be cool in a building, but not THAT awesome, however, putting them underwater in the crystal clear, turquoise waters of Mexico's Caribbean, there's a magical eeriness about it that makes is one-of-a-kind. I loved all the fish swimming in between all the statues. It's an easy dive, not too deep, with lots of swimming room.

You gotta dive thirty feet underwater to see any of it, and all the art is all wet! Wanna get a photo of the sculptures? There's a good chance there's a fish that's gonna photobomb your shot. This place is hilarious! The art is poignant, creative, and fun. It's all lifesized sculptures of things like cars, people, and a bar scene. There's coral growing on the stuff, and fish all around. The sand is a light white, and the water is so blue and warm, it's a great place to check out some art. It's such a cool perspective to be able to circle around and see the art from all angles, even above or below with your ability to swim all around it. It's really fun to see the art this way. You don't have to dive with the museum itself. You can choose any of the dive companies, since there's no private property out in the sea, and anyone who knows how to operate a boat can take you out here. Diving was great, and visibility was par enough to be able to clearly see all the stuff underwater. The waters were choppy, which made for some currents pushing and pulling underwater, but it's a shallow dive and if anything goes wrong you can always just ascend to the surface from such shallow depths with much worry about anything going wrong. In two dives, we were able to take in about a dozen different sculpture displays. They're all near each other.

This Mayan archaeological site is interesting intrinsically as well as for the fact that it was one of the last places inhabited by the Mayans before the arrival of the Spaniards. You can see the Museum and the grounds in about an hour.

They were pretty dead, so we thought our service would be quick. It wasn't. We were sat at a dirty table with sticky/mildew-smelling menus. I wanted to leave, but my fiancé wanted to give them a chance. I cleaned the table myself. The server came to take our order & it eventually came out as requested. I ordered chicken strips thinking it was a meal that couldn't be messed up. They had no taste at all. None! My fiancé loved his burger and ate his fries and mine. The chicken went to waste, unfortunately. All in all, it's an ok place to try if you're looking for American food. I just didn't enjoy my experience. When we left the restaurant and walked towards the street near the ice cream shop, the photographer from this restaurant ran after us and asked us to buy our photos. She was so far away from the restaurant & I was shocked that she followed us just to make that sale. My fiancé felt sorry for her and bought a photo and let her keep the change. Everyone has a hustle there. That's for sure.
