There's no way to spend more than an hour here. Likely, a thirty minute visit if you take the time to look/read. The art is contemporary so in my opinion, hit or miss. There were pieces which I loved and others which confused or repulsed me. It's all part of the contemporary art experience though, no? Go with the flow. Don't expect to find translations as the captions were in Spanish. Use a translation app. Oaxaca isn't particularly English-friendly overall. It's a bit of a struggle at times but I'm learning Spanish so it was good practice. Either way, this is contemporary art. I think you can still appreciate and enjoy it without having all the context/background. Very cheap entrance fee. 20 pesos = 1 USD.

We ended up staying quite a while perusing the stamp collection and making our way through the whole museum. The outdoor area was especially fun, and there's even a mirror for stamp selfies. There weren't any English translations, but my friends who speak some Spanish were enjoying themselves translating everything.

It is a large convent in which the Museum of Cultures of Oaxaca, the Fray Francisco de Burgoa Library and the Ethnobotanical Garden have been established. The Santo Domingo Cultural Center has multipurpose spaces in the former convent, in which temporary exhibitions, conferences, courses, book presentations and concerts, among many other activities, are held.

Another guard wouldn't let us even try to follow her because we were not following the arrows. The stairs are quit steep. Despite all of this my husband says it was one of the best museums he has ever been to and would like to go back with a guide. Go early to avoid crowds.

Although it was small, I did find it to be very cute. Drop by if you're in the area but do not go out of your way. This place is mostly for students looking for a place to study. The courtyard was very quaint. Would not recommend coming here if you're a tourist. I did not notice if the place has air conditioning but I doubt they do. Beautiful place to come here to study though. I did not see any other tourists there.
