I just completed the A1 class with Sonja, and it was a great experience. I'm able to take a taxi,…read more eat at a restaurant, grocery shop, and do the normal day to day things all in deutsch. The class was flexible and tailored to my needs. If I was staying longer in Hamburg, I would definitely continue classes here. Some negative review below (which I can read now) was about how busy the school is. The school has a small teaching core that focuses on quality of education not quantity of students. There's a wait at times, as my wife had, but I think it's worth it. Would recommend the school. Good luck!

After taking a disastrous class at another school (which happens to be on the Colennade--stay…read moreaway!), I took three classes at Sprachfix. Each class was excellent. Whenever I speak German, people usually say that my German is very good, and ask where I learned. No joke! I have to credit Sprachfix, as my experiences with this school helped me lose my fears about speaking a foreign language, and helped me to truly learn German. The teachers are professional and friendly. They have lived or studied abroad for long periods of time, so they "get" what it's like to be a newcomer in a foreign land. They deliver lessons in fun, appropriate and scaffolded ways so ALL students can learn. There was ample time to talk, and to practice new concepts. My first teacher made a point to encourage us to get over our fears of communicating in German; it worked, and by the end of the term, were could successfully carry on a basic conversation both inside and outside of the classroom. The pacing was fast, but not too fast. The textbooks were helpful, and the teachers supplemented the textbooks with their own materials. During the break, there was coffee, tea and cookies. Since German was our only common language, the other students and I quickly started chatting, which only helped us learn. Most of the other students were very friendly and welcoming, too. This is different from other language schools, where we would sit in silence during the breaks. Not at Sprachfix! Everyone talked with everyone, and sometimes we'd all meet up at a cafe or someone's house, and sometimes the teachers would come too. Again, a chance to truly talk, practice and learn. You get what you get out a language class, and I think that Sprachfix provides an opportunity to learn A LOT. Yes, you'll have to study. Yes, you'll have to show up and work hard. But the teachers and classmates will help you, and you'll go through the process together, and your German will improve.
