Located on the main market square it can't get more central than this, and you're in for a bonus if rustic architecture and vintage is your thing- in addition to film of course. They screen all sorts of films; old, new, blockbusters and world cinema included. It's a hub for cultural events as well with a number of festivals (Krakow film festival, literature festival and the Unsound festival from the top of my head) also taking advantage of the impressive venue. I particularly like the vintage feel and really enjoy coming here every once in a while when I get fed up with CinemaCity and the commercial madness. Coming here almost makes me feel a little classy for a change without breaking the bank, and I won't lie about the fact that I kind of like it. The oooooonly downside is for us non-polish speakers who cannot really enjoy the foreign films because they are usually subtitled in Polish. Check out their website for more info in english :)

It's going to be very short review this time. I go to Cinema City in Bonarka approximately twice a…read moreyear. Usually it's for a kid's movie and I am responsible other people's kids, so it's rather a challenge. This time we choose to see a 3D movie. It was a small room with just ten rows. The screen was proportionally smaller too, not crispy clean or pure white. Every time there was light color picture, I saw all the imperfections on the screen. I wanted to see this particular movie at IMAX at a different location, but unfortunately there wasn't a dubbed version available for the kids. The movie we saw was rather long but we liked it a lot. Even the kids didn't want to skip a moment and didn't go to the restroom as usual during a screening. What's happened after made me really upset. The female worker who cleans the room after didn't let the girls to go out through the entrance door. They really had to go, really in capital letters. This person informed us that there is a different restroom at the end of the stairs when using exit door, and I believed her not being familiar with the area. I have to add, we always used the entrance door to get out and there weren't any problems in the past. The way out using the exit door took forever and we were totally in pain looking for the promised restroom. Eventually after taking thousands stairs, that's what it felt like, we found it. It was dirty and stinky woman/man restroom. It looked like it was not even part of the public place and was forgotten by cleaning person. I couldn't believe where this upstairs lady directed us. I was ready to go back, find her and do something to let my steam go out. If she thought we wanted to sneak out through the entrance door only because we wanted to cheat and get into another screening room to watch the next movie for free, her brain must be the size of one puffed popcorn. Fortunately I always have hand sanitizer with me so we used it immediately. After that I just wanted to leave and not come back anymore. Maybe next time we'll check different locations for watching movies. It's not the cheapest way to entertain children and we should have at least the best service possible, because with movies you're never sure. You can only blame yourself over the movie you choose to watch, but the place where we watch it is totally up to us.

Cinema City Bonarka is a large multiplex theater with many small screens. The movie watching…read moreexperience here is either no better or worse than in Cinema City Kazimierz. I was watching Interstellar this evening. It was playing in one of the smaller halls. The small screen really failed to do the film justice. The acoustic was also poor. I found myself reading the Polish subtitles half the time in order to follow the action. The Bonarka location does show more titles. Sometimes, it's your only choice. If you can catch a the same film at either location though, I would go with Kazimierz.

Kino Mikro & Mikroffala is a perfect place for those movie maniacs that are interested in less…read morecommercial movies and like to watch them in a small, cameral ambience. I especially like the MikrOFFalla room which consists only of a few very comfortable red couches and thanks to that creates a pleasant, family atmosphere. There is also one bigger cinema room available (with 121 seats). The nice thing is that the place offers to buy a ticket online and to receive it by email/sms. At the place you only have to read the number from the ticket. (eco-friendly feature :)) The only problem is that if you want to buy tickets directly before the movie (for mikroffalla room) it might happen that there won't be any seats available anymore so it's better to do it online at least one hour before.
