So very disappointed! When making reservations you can request inside or outside and high top or standard table. I requested inside standard. We were seated at a high top that barely fit 2 salad plates and 2 glasses. There were plenty of standard tables around the room. Our waiter appeared and took our drink order. Drinks were delivered within a few minutes. We then sat there for 25 minutes waiting to give the waiter our food order. He never came back to our table! Good for drinks and entertainment, but don't feel bad if you skip the food. Brought a large group to Mulligans to watch the complimentary magic show, which was worth it. The food was lacking overall, however, and food service was slow even though we made an early reservation. Not one person in our group would come back for a meal. I felt bad for our server because twice he had to come back to our group after some time to explain they were out of some dish/ingredient. He did bring our group 2 free desserts at the end due to the troubles we had, but it didn't resolve the frustration members of our group felt. I've been to Mulligans a few times for just drinks and a show and have had a great time overall, so my advice is stick to that plan and you'll be right. read more

After reading about Mulligans on a few travel sites, we made reservations for our last night in town. We were excited to eat here and listen to the band for a while but were disappointed. The Celtic Tigers (live entertainment band) were certainly nothing to write home about and were kind of just noise. The atmosphere was fun, open, and energetic. I ordered the Shepard's Pie (pictured) that arrived after having obviously sat under a heat lamp for some time. It was clear from the flavoring that the dish was thrown together from leftovers and piled with cheese to hide that. As a restaurant using Celtic influences, this dish is one of the most important to master. Our waitress was great but the restaurant was severely understaffed so service was very slow. Overall, don't believe the hype and take your business elsewhere. read more

I haven't been here in years - and the decor has NOT changed ! We came to see live music $35 cover- it was recommended that we make dinner reservations at Mulligans to insure seating . So I made reservations from Mulligans website via opentable dinner for 2pp at 4:30pm. I was going to be late, as common courtesy I called and notified Mulligans online to let them know I was late for my reservation. When we got there we checked in with the live music reps. And I told them that we have 4:30pm reservations for dinner - an older female with long straight grey hair half up said in a VERY rude tone - they don't open until 5pm . I told her I made reservations on mulligans website for 4:30pm. She then repeated herself in the same rude tone and shot me a very "KAREN" look! I dismissed her and walked to the host stand and the baldish guy with a accent standing there was also rude, annoyed and had an attitude !?! I have had many years in the hospitality industry (server, host, floor manager, front house trainer, catering sales manager) NEVER have I ever felt SO unwelcomed- if not for the live band I would have left! The food was overpriced and mediocre: the coconut shrimp was from the frozen section at Safeway, they charged $23 the 3 fingers size pieces of fish and threw in a few chips, my husband had a $18 dry hamburger - the patty looked like it over stayed it's welcome in the freezer then pan seared , the runners confused and our waiter was the only person with an good attitude! We are regulars at Mulligan's on the Blue. We attend live music every Saturday on top of many other special events. We always get great service, but I must say they went above and beyond when we got engaged. We were invited to have our reception there. We had a small group and got married on a day the restaurant is closed, so didn't even consider them as an option. They opened up just for us and made the event so special and memorable for us and our guests. We felt like family and I can't thank them enough. Highly recommend Mulligan's for lunch, dinner, entertainment, and special events/private parties. read more

Post-COVID Mulligans is very different from when I reviewed it about eight years ago. They're now only open on the weekend and it appears that Fridays are regularly reserved for private parties. My wife and I think their Reuben sandwich is the best on the island, especially if you order extra sauerkraut and Thousand Island sauce on the side. On this visit we started with an order of fish tacos and they were great. Happy Hour prices are from 2:00 - 5:00, with discounts on draft beers, wine and well drinks. Guinness is served at cellar temp, which is the right way to serve it! Big Swell IPA was my choice and it was great. Our waitress was fantastic and friendly and made sure our requests (see above, plus extra-hot fries) were met perfectly. She checked up on us regularly and made sure we had another round ordered when our glasses were nearly empty so we had a new beer as we drained the first ones. Live music was supposed to start at 4:30. The drummer and bassist were ready to go on time. The singer did a mic check at about 4:45 and then disappeared. The guitarist showed up right around 5:00 and they played an up-tempo blues song and the dinner crowd filled the dance floor. Although Mulligans advertises no cover charge, a random woman approached us and asked for $5.00 per person for a cover charge. She was seated at a table near us and I assume she is a friend of the band. When I pointed out the music hadn't started yet and it was 20 minutes past the posted start time she informed me "It's Maui time." I'm a little tired of that excuse. At any rate we were waiting for our bill and decided to skip the music. Great food and drinks, super service, and to be honest the band's first song sounded really good as we walked to our car. The guitarist was outstanding. We left at 5:00 during the first song and the singer was still not in sight. Based on the fact that the place filled up at about 4:30 with a mostly retirement-age crowd I think the band has a loyal following. We came at 2:00 for a late lunch so we hadn't planned on staying for the music. If you're advertising no cover then you shouldn't ask for a cover charge (I don't know if the owner was even aware, since the woman collecting was clearly not a Mulligans employee). I'm a musician and I think we will come back again to hear the band and yes, we will gladly pay a cover charge if asked as the trio sounded great. I can only imagine that their singer must be good, as no band that talented would have a crummy lead singer. To wrap up, great Happy Hour menu, yummy fish tacos and a Reuben sandwich, and Guinness on tap makes this on our we'll be back list. read more

After service we came here to eat. It was already poppin and we heard that a friend was gonna perform. We have been here a couple times but this time we decided to sit inside. They had sports playing in t.v. As well as a band playing with a grip of people dancing. Although it was outside no matter where you sit there's bugs. We had to move around some but got a good view of the band and dancers. The first time around we ordered fish and chips and corn beef and cabbage. I really enjoyed the fish and chips and out waiter was really friendly with a lot of aloha. He even told us about the magic shows they have. This visit we shared the seafood trio which was just right for us. Since we weren't entirely hungry just a little something with drinks to finish off the night. Rude waiter / host / bartender. We had to go grab our waiter to place our order after 20-30 mins of not seeing him. He finally came over to take our order, and told us we needed to order right now because the "kitchen closes in 5 minutes." Then he tells us 3 different dishes are sold out... "they sold out 10 minutes ago" which would not have happened if he had come over sooner. Would not have been a big deal if the waiter was remotely friendly, but he was not. Quite disappointed. This place is within walking distance of our condo at Polo Beach. We've been coming here every time we're in Maui. Our favorite for lunch or happy hour. Who knows a golf course pub could be so good. We placed our order before 6:30 pm And at 7pm waitress informs us that she was just told they dont have the bangers for my husband's order and if he ordered something else we would have to wait longer then we already have. Waitress brought our appetizer but we had no napkins or utensils on our table.we had to ask for them. In my opinion the service was horrible. Came in for lunch on good Friday after a recommendation from a friend to try the fish and chips and we are so happy we did! I took my son and daughter in law with her parents from the UK and they were amazed how good everything was. The fish was well seasoned, tasted so fresh, and the batter was outstanding. It was so crispy and light without the greasy feel we have gotten used to away from home. They even said it was better than theirs back home. We also had a great shepherds pie, a beef stew pot pie that was absolutely amazing, and one of the best currys ever! My 83 year old father's best Father's Day memory is of our 'ohana eating a good 'ol Irish meal with an Irish band playing. Fast forward 10 years and my dad can no longer walk much less sit in a restaurant. He had his heart set on corned beef and cabbage. I ordered online at 1:30 today and got an immediate confirmation via text and email. At 5pm, the pick up time, I receive a call as I was almost there, and they told me they no longer had corned beef! Or shrimp, as an appetizer. Are you freekin' kidding me?! Like where was I to drive my dad ON FATHER'S DAY for a special meal. And to make it worse, he and my mom cancelled their normally scheduled meal at the center they live at. It is obvious Mulligan's cares only for their tourist dollars and treats locals as second class. Shame on you! We are here with family and friends to celebrate our wedding on the beach in a few days. Mulligans was definitely on our lists of places to visit while we are here. We went for dinner/drinks/live music last night. It was not a good experience and I definitely will not go back or recommend. The service was horrible. They were very rude (and not just one server but all of them that we had interactions with) they let us order things they were out of, didn't bring things that we ordered and several people in our group (the groom being one of them) had to wait for food way after everyone else had been served. I make allowances for being busy/understaffed but the attitude of the staff on top of the rest of the experience was such a disappointment. read more

Two stars as the setting is beautiful with lovely sunset views. It was moderately busy, not a full house by any means. The service was very slow. The meals were not served to all at the table at the same time. Two of us had the corned beef and cabbage. The meat was mostly fat and the mustard sauce left a lot to be desired. The cabbage and mashed potatoes were cold. The drinks were very weak. Mentioning the problems got a " Oh that's too bad" from the he waitress. Get a beer if you want something consistent. The magic show was fun for the children that were there. They charged $10/pp on the tab because the magician was there. Experience was mediocre at best. Golf course refreshments are always fun. And this place is no exception. Friendly workers, lots of parking (it's a golf course!), good food, and live music! A recipe for good fun! I was looking for something other than the usual relaxing by beach that I normally do when I'm at home and while I could've gone to the Triangle, I decided to come here. It's essentially an Irish pub, which is weird because isn't golf Scottish? There's tvs for all you sports fiends and a big old bar. There's also an area for live music with a dance floor. Every time I come here, there's always someone dancing. Now that's a good time! Food is consistent and good. I don't recall having any issues with the food, but I get normal stuff like fish and chips or chopped salad. They have a good selection of draught beers, which is always nice. There's also lots of whiskey for all you fancy people. For the visitors, there's the frou frou drinks like pina colada or Haleakala lava flow, but I could have sworn that Haleakala's last lava flow was in the 1870s. Har har har...Yeah, I've been hanging out with the bartender too long so the jokes get corny. But at least they didn't tell me to go away, so I'll definitely be back! This is a great place to get some irish pub fare. My friend and i stoped by here for lunch after setting up an event at a nearby hotel. It was perfect for a nice relaxing lunch. We both had a glass of guiness. We also ordered some food. I had the mahi mahi fish and chips. Which were cooked to perfection, he had the sheperds pie. Which he said was incredible. Went to have breakfast this morning and watch some football. We sat down, the waitress brought use the menu. My husband and I had decided what we wanted and started to order. The waitress started to take the menus and said....oh wait! wrong menu...breakfast is over...Mind you it's 10:35am. I told her that the menu states breakfast is served until 11:00. She claims that breakfast has ended and went to get the lunch menus. She didn't even offer an apology or to go check in the kitchen to see if we could still order breakfast. It is very aggravating to go to a restaurant for breakfast and have to eat lunch. We were going to leave. However, we were meeting some friends there. They were so put off by the shenanigans of the breakfast menu and our waitress that they ended up sitting at the bar. Fast forward.... we did order lunch the food was pretty good except the coleslaw was hard... not just crisp, but HARD and tasteless! The ice tea was gross. So very bitter! Probably old and/or over brewed. The waitress had no personality. She didn't even clear our plates from the table. Another waitress did and we didn't even have to ask. I wish we would have sat in her section! This was a great choice for us as we are Irish and sports lovers but even better was the magic show our kids enjoyed tonight! It was a highlight of our vacation! The prices were reasonable and the food was very good and unique from other cuisines on the island. The one thing I would complain is there was very little vegetables in my lost shepherds (vegetarian) pie - it was mostly mash and it burned my tongue even 15 min after it arrived. - We just might be back again, for the magic show. The corned beef was great and I love that they offered vegan and gluten free options. Really a fun spot and the server guy was very nice and attentive but not intrusive. Made a reservation for a wedding party of four for 6:30 p.m, for a party of four. Arrived at 6:20 p.m. We waited at the reception desk for 10 minutes before being greeted. We were seated and then advised it could be up to an hour to get a server to us. We went inside to the restroom and noticed there were several seats at the bar. We relocated to the bar and was approached by the same hostess. We were asked if we were giving up our seats and we advised her that we were & sitting at the bar. A couple of us were already seated at the bar and ordering our drinks. The hostess advised the bartender to "make them wait". We then decided to leave and advised the bar back we wanted our check, paid the bill and can assure you we will not return. Later the next day, I looked at my American Express Platinum card charges and discovered they added their own tip the credit card after the tip was left in cash and the Credit Card Charge settled out. If you want to get away from the overpriced resort bars and go to a real Maui Irish pub, go to Mulligans. It's far and away more affordable (and in my opinion more enjoyable) than the other bars and restaurants in Wailea. And it's really close to the big resorts like Four Seasons. The golf course and ocean views added an extra element. The bartender Shasta was super nice and we heard they have live music every night. Will have to come back for that next time.
