army stew, tofu kimchi bossam, honey garlic chicken
    Susan L.

tucked away upstairs next to woorijip, mui offers a solid selection of korean dishes. my friend and I shared the army stew, kimchi bossam, and honey garlic fried chicken. the army stew was super filling and tasty, a standard dish that warms you up as the weather gets colder. they served their bossam with kimchi and tofu, which is an interesting combination but I preferred eating each component separately. the honey garlic fried chicken was my favorite of the night, super crispy and flavorful, a win in taste and texture. there wasn't a wait time and there's plenty of seating, so I wouldn't worry about getting a reservation!

This is one of my go-to pochas in ktown. I would run back here for the sparkling chungha and Mild Mixed Seafood Soup. Those two I ALWAYS get when I come here. Staff is pretty attentive, pretty spacious bathroom, and almost always walk in is less than 10 minute wait. They give cash discount so make sure to bring cash and ask for the cash receipt!

I wanted to just update my review with some other food items I've tried: their seafood okonomiyaki, bossam, buddaejjigae, and Korean fried chicken with fries. Everything was pretty solid, but nothing outstanding. A good spot to drink with friends, with a lively ambiance and casual decor.

This place was packed on a Friday night! Vibes were great and service was fast. We ordered the tofu kimchi bossam and spicy bai-top shell. Both were good. Looking forward to visiting again to try their other menus next time!

Cute korean spot for drinks and light snacks tucked away in ktown. Doesn't get too crowded as the spot is on the 5th floor and lowkey kinda hard to find. The elevator also takes a while but you can always take the stairs (walk up past Miss Korea). The spot is vibey and full of seats, but gets a bit loud as you may imagine. Service is pretty decent and they are accommodating of dietary restrictions, though they just omit and don't do replacements. I liked their chapchae and seafood hot pot best but would also recommend their other food!

Great spot to start/end the night. The food is pretty good here. My friends and I come here for drinks usually. Super loud environment so I don't know if you would come here for a first date. If you come on weekends it usually takes a while to get seated. We waited 45mins to an hour on a weekend. I enjoyed their bossam and korean fried chicken. Vibes were great and we did get a few shots on the house. The servers are always super kind.

Located on the 5th floor - the elevator can be slow but you can also take the stairs! We just stopped by for an early dinner before heading over to a concert in MSG so it wasn't very busy. Staff members were nice and attentive, and their jokbal and seafood scallion pancakes were solid - no complaints!

Love all of these dishes, but my favorite is the fried rice.

I've been coming to the place ever since it first opened back in 2015. The food, service, and atmosphere have not changed. The food is still delicious, the service is still excellent, and the decor is still very cute. Important note: make a reservation. It gets really busy. We will be back for more!!

I LOVED IT HERE! the environment was AMAZING, great drinks, great food! our server momo was adorable, he was very helpful. highly recommend for a little night out in ktown. Seafood Scallion Pancake - 6/10 this was the one dish i wasn't the biggest fan of it was alright but a bit soggier than expected :-( Spicy oil Rice Cake - 10/10 AMAZING. so so good. the rice cake was soo bouncy yet had a bit of a crisp to it, and in that melted mozzarella it was PERFECTION. i am still thinking abt this meal. the seaweed roll was PERFECT as well. Kimchi Fried Rice - 9/10 another amazing dish. the spam was a great addition and worth that extra $1 for a little protein.

Mui is located on the 5th floor, right above a Korean karaoke, off of the main K-town strip. It could be a bit hard to find but there's a pretty big sign right outside that leads you to the elevators. The ambiance is nice and lively and the staff are very attentive and kind. I've been here more than 10 times and always come back for the Chicken Popper with Scallion Salad. The honey mustard sauce with the perfectly fried chicken makes this a 10/10 dish. All of their dishes are made for sharing, so depending on the night I usually get the above and a few beers. Other highlights son the menus are the Kimchi Fried Rice (especially with cheese) and the Seafood Scallion Pancake.

Came to MUI on a Thursday night and had a great time! The space was really lively and buzzing with music in the background. The cocktails are delicious and strong. I tried the Tropical Fluff (Rum, Aperol, Grapefruit, Pineapple, Banana, Orange) and my friend got the Garden Waltz (Gin, Limoncello, Lavender, Honey, Lemon, Tonic). Both were really nicely presented as well. The Spam Cheese Roll was a really unique dish - there's spam and cheese inside wrapped with seaweed (just like a sushi roll). I liked it but not sure that I would order it again. The Tofu Kimchi Bossam was the star dish of our meal! I loved the modern twist on a traditional dish. The pork belly was full of flavor and did not have an overwhelming amount of fat. The Bulgogi Japchae was delicious and full of toppings which I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, we did order one dish that was a huge miss - the Snowing Cheese Potato Pancake. It was hard to eat this dish because of how greasy and drenched in oil it was. We decided to give this one a try because it had a star next to it on the menu, so we assumed it was a customer-favorite. Service was decent, but nothing overly special. It's definitely a cool spot worth checking out in K-Town if you haven't been. I can see myself coming back to try some other dishes on the menu!

Always a great spot for drinks with a group! It is located on the 5th floor which you take a tiny elevator to get to. I've been here a few times and there is always room for a big party and the service is fast. Some must orders: Honey & Garlic Chicken Poppers - it is sweet and soo filling, this is a huge portion of chicken and it comes with fries! I also love the tteokbokki, it is spicy and has the perfect chew, although the portion is a bit small.

    Justin T.

I went to grab dinner with some friends, so we decided to check out MUI. Once entering, it definitely had the Pocha vibe with ambient blue lighting, loud music playing, and lots of chatter coming from the tables. We ordered a watermelon soju and a lychee soju. Both were pretty good and got me buzzed. I liked the Lychee one better. For the food, we ordered the Kimchi Fried Rice, the Tofu Kimchi W/ Pork Belly, and the Seafood Pancake. All the food dishes were good, but weren't showstopping. The service was good, we got continuous refills on our water pitcher. Overall, not a bad spot for drinks and food in Ktown.

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way.
