From 4 stars to 2 - an EVICTION "process"…read more We had okay dealings with this firm some four years ago buying two properties. The cases advanced well and there were few problems with communications. Services we got dealing with troubling tenant mostly last year were on the contrary were often sub-standard. What was supposed to be some 2-3 months process was a mess of over 7 months(!) too much of it linked to lack of proper follow through and procedures by this firm. Some things to consider (as with any law firm): RETAINERS: You may want to try to resolve issues with a lawyer that does less packaging and more acting as advocate to solve your problems more quickly and lightly. Be sure a retainer serves your purposes and benefit. COMMUNICATION (plus DELAYS): We were not communicated in detail about the case nor was first notice served to tenant for well over a month..(!) Communicating with civil servants can't always be easy but a highly paid attorney must be on top of it. The law firm must be proactive to shorten the case where possible. PROFESSIONALISM: Most real estate lawyers probably know the standard procedures pretty well, but an eviction is tricky and mistakes can make it even longer, costlier and more nerve wrecking. A good lawyer accepts responsibility for your case and its timely and expert execution. DOCUMENTS: Your lawyer must provide you and other parties with proper kind (and quantity) of documents. Almost a year into this we are still waiting for one to start debt collecting efforts. Alas, in this torturous "process" we lost most of our regular income, nearly $10,000 in lawyer's fees and peace of mind - at the worst possible time with severe illness in family. MY ADVISE: Know exactly what you need (try to solve issues without a lawyer - negotiate with you tenant directly and openly, and if unsuccessful learn how to SERVE notice of missed rent in NY before bringing any lawyer to the scene - really try to get to an agreement with tenant yourself). If needed choose your lawyer vary carefully and still remain on top of your case at all times. And good luck.

He was highly recommended to me…read moreby someone whom I trust, however I was still anxious about how things would go since I have used "highly recommended" lawyers in the past who did very little work and offered the following advice, "tell me what you'd like to do," and when I asked for their thoughts/input/guidance all I got was, "it's your call." My transaction was riddled with difficulties on the seller's end (bizarro demands for "upgrades" despite the "as is" contract they signed) and Richard really kept me calm. He knew exactly how to handle things, worked really well with the seller's attorney and kept me posted every step of the way. I also was able to get exactly what was agreed upon initially (despite the insane upgrade requests) without having to kill the deal- which I had little hope for, but Richard reassured me would work out. There were no hidden or extra fees (and I thought his fees were very reasonable). Also, I asked for him to quote me a maximum, because I just wanted an idea of worst case scenario...and all his scenarios and fees made sense and he stuck to them. I called him a lot and he was always there to talk to me, personally. Yes,you read correctly: personally. I'm still shocked at how much attention I got. He's a great mix of intelligent and down-to-earth. I will definitely use him moving forward and feel more confident about pursuing property interests knowing I can turn to him. NOTE: I would not describe myself as easy to please. I do not suffer fools kindly, and my expectations are high. I also am an Italian(American) woman from NJ - so rave reviews do not exactly come pouring out of me without ample merit.

The other fallacy is that Mr. Kleiner is a person that "walks the walk" as shown on his website. He is a very experienced chameleon who will over-promise and guarantee...and fail to deliver. To date, I am still unable to receive billing that would afford me the opportunity to gain compensation as a survivor of domestic violence...and it is very improper to be placed in such a position with a person who has purposely taken an oath to service the public with decency and respect. One must wonder why that is his choice. In addition, Mr. Kleiner fails to file timely replies to adversaries and initiate filings on behalf of his clients. This has cost me significant amounts of hardships and loss of credibility and time with my family as a result given the scope of my matters that he has had the privilege of handling (despite his lack thereof). Mr. Kleiner has apparently conducted himself as I have stated previously with a multitude of others. Recently, a local forum has been discussing historic behavior and very similar experiences to my own. As one woman labeled Mr. Kleiner "The Harvey Weinstein" of Bergen County, the best approach to avoid being caught in the web of inappropriateness would be to avoid Mr. Kleiner completely and seek reputable attorneys that have a strong track record (and reviews) which demonstrate their expertise and integrity. Mr. Kleiner has only gained so many "reviews" over the last weeks via close friends given the current events and his name being mentioned in the forum I have referenced. Of the 37 years that he has been in practice, there are just as many "reviews"; with the majority being posted only recently to recover the fire that he is under within the local community.
