It's a little piece of Darlinghurst Sydney right in the middle of Freiburg :) Great atmosphere, service, coffee (that come in big handless bowl like mugs that need to be cradled with two hands to sip from-Mmmmm) Jos Fritz also has a great outdoor garden with comfy chairs and plenty of seating with blankets for smokers to warm themselves with so they don't freeze having a smoke. Access is through the Jos Fritz bookstore during the daytime (same name different owners although also Sappric owned.) or come around the side alley from morning through night.

The buffet choices are typical for Germany...cold cuts, cheese, rolls, eggs, fruit...not heavy on the sweets. (There are plenty of non-buffet baked goods for purchase.) My caramel latte was LECKER...not too strong, not too sweet. Service was quietly functional. Definitely something for everyone. (Check them out on Instagram, their locations are all super trendy and fun!) We stuck to baked goods & pastries (especially Black Forest Cake because we were essentially in the Black Forest, although here it's called Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte and Bavarian pretzels, because, well, when in Rome). We also had a sesame croissant, pretty pink donuts, and a crumble bar too. We were all supper satisfied! The cake was moist and filled with alcohol soaked cherries. The pretzel was perfectly salted and the croissant was glistening with butter, fluffy and flaky. We also grabbed some of their incredible breads and donuts for the road. They did not disappoint either. The espresso, which complimented the goods perfectly was strong and delish. The fresh apple tea iced was incredible and memorable!! I would love to know how to recreate it at home. It was so naturally sweet even unsweetened and felt like it should be served warm on a fall day, but was perfect and refreshing, served iced on a hot summer day. There's tons of towering Sammie's, parfaits, fruit cups and salads. Honestly, such a variety. I loved the jam and bread cutting station!
