It doesn't seem as busy and it feels more like Mexico than many of the urban areas. This market is a part of what gives the area its charm. Because coyoacan is the home of Frida Kahlo, Coyoacan is known to be home to many artists. While I didn't see that on a Tuesday afternoon, I hear the weekends and nights are more lively. This market full of local vendors, but a lot of what's here is touristy souvenirs that aren't cheap. Was considering rating this 3 stars as I couldn't find anything I really wanted to buy; however I do think it's an essential part of the local flavor

San Ángel's Plaza San Jacinto hosts a large market - called El Bazar Sábado - every Saturday from 10am until 7pm. It's an art and design market, and you can find incredible artisan goods and art: jewelry, bags, clothes, paintings, pottery... It's amazing - hundreds of vendors! It can be crowded, so come with a little patience and some cash. And enjoy! It's a special event. I highly recommend it for tourists visiting Mexico City.

The shoes here are obviously the big draw, but they also have amazing leather jackets and bags. Even D who breaks out into a cold sweat when buying sneakers is obsessed with their shoes and now owns three pairs. All are super stylish and incredibly well made. Both times we shopped here we were helped by Manuel. He was incredibly helpful and VERY patient with my anxious husband. For those of you visiting the DF with limited Spanish, Manuel and most that work here are fluent in English as well. Though Manuel was very sweet and suffered through my terrible attempts at only speaking in Spanish to practice. We love this store and plan to come back or shop online for any of our shoe needs!

We came when it was nearing closing time so not all the stalls were open, but there were still a good number of them waiting around for last minute customers. Thankfully they took card so that was a huge help. Though we didn't think about bargaining... Ugh. Americans. Haha. Even if you're not looking for anything in particular, the variety and specialty items here will be interesting to browse.

Do not mix it up with Mercado de Coyoacán (an actual market with cultural goods and local eats). It's multi-level and semi-outdoors in some areas. Some high end stores here included Cartier and Hugo Boss. The bad: We came to this mall by accident at first because our Uber driver took us to the wrong spot. We ended up browsing it anyway before going to our actual destination. The interesting: Plaza Centro Coyoacán was the old name but they closed a few years back and are now called Mitikah.
