I'm Currently a 8th grader at srms or Santa Rosa high School I went to Santa Rosa charter school…read morefor the arts kindergarten through part of the year of 7th grade and I was doing horrible. They said I was in danger of failing and told me I needed an IEP to be able to pass the bare minimum. At least school has lots of bullying issues including letting kids get away with racism, verbal threats and targeting of specific students I was suspended from this school four times and they were all for standing up tokids that were being really racist and just last year exactly a year ago I got suspended for beating up a kid who kept repeatedly making racial comments and thinking it was funny such as the n-word in 9/11 jokes. I just was done and the same kid was not suspended. He had no punishment whatsoever. He got no punishment because his mom is a big donator/funder of the school trying to force me to get on an IEP and they tried to diagnose me with multiple mental disorders that really offended me because I know there was nothing wrong with me and I finally switched over to Santa Rosa Junior high School the combined 7th through 12th and I went from D's and C's f's two to mostly A's and a couple B's this school is a joke and although I have friends that come here that I still would stay friends with forever the school is absolutely horrible. I wouldn't even give it one star for is for 4 months at the beginning of 7th grade we didn't even have a history teacher and we had a new sub every single week and I mean it. We had one 30-day sub but that is it unorganized teachers don't teach us anything. One of the teachers there he's retired now. I had an f the whole year of 6th grade because he didn't know how to work the grade book on Aries. This school is a complete joke as a whole. The middle school is about about 120 kids smallest Middle School. The elementary school is okay. Better than the middle school, but the middle school teachers are kind of a joke firing completely good teachers that have been there for years. They say it's about seniority but it's not but they hire a 85-year-old teacher that doesn't even know how to put two numbers into Aries. I know I'm just a 14-year-old girl but don't send your child here. You don't have to listen to me but in my opinion don't ever send your child here. There's no sports teams the kids are really mean and basically just a school full of Rich kids who think they're better than everyone else. I know from experience I never knew kids could be so mean. I've worked with kids before but the kids in the elementary school are mean too if you get into a verbal altercation with someone, the kid that was saying racist stuff or mean stuff gets no punishment at all. I know from experience it's always the person who puts their hands on the person and the principal would always make me apologize. When I switched over to srms I never get into verbal altercations. I have a big group of friends, multiple groups and I get to experience what it's like to be a part of a sports team, being friends with your teammates, Spirit, weeks leadership, and all the elective choices so I recommend for an elementary school send your kid to French American charter. Very big campus or proctor terrace. Lots of my friends that go to my school now really liked it. They said the teachers there are great and for middle school, Santa Rosa Middle School or pioneer Middle School or Comstock My overall experience. I would give them zero Stars. The principal. Horrible. Do not take the school serious through a whole big joke they would bully kids that came from more ghetto parts of California for how they dressed how they looked just because they weren't Rich bougie white people I've had friends who had dyslexia and they never got help. The school refused to help them and get them the support they needed. They have a student support group but the people working from it were high school students who barely knew what they were doing. I was a part of the student success group. It did not help me succeed unless your child is fine being in a small school in a small community with the same kids every year. Don't send your kid here

I can not rave enough about this amazing school! We transferred into the school from another…read moredistrict and feel blessed to be a part of the school community. The Principal is dynamic, invested, focused and caring. The Teachers are superb. BUT, my FAVORITE thing about Village is the diversity! The families of Village truly represent the best of America: they stem from many backgrounds but are all focused on a successful and prosperous future for their children. A++++++++++

*** NOTE: This review is NOT about Village Elementary School! (which is a FABULOUS school!!) This…read morereview is intended to describe their Parent's Club President (Sherina Saul-Tuxson) ONLY. *** I attended "Family Night" here at my 3rd grade daughter's brand new school. It was especially exciting for us since I had just got married, so we were brand new to town and couldn't wait to meet new friends here! Everything was SO much fun... all the activities we got to share in with our kids and their teachers, great food and atmosphere! Then, as i was simply filling out a raffle ticket alongside other moms for our kids to win a park-date with their teacher, this woman comes STOMPING up behind me and (literally!) RIPS out my ticket from underneath my pen!!!! ...causing it to tear. I was in shock. Why this level of aggression, and in the midst of such a good time at an elementary school, and by a woman who i'd never seen before in my entire life??? Maybe it was an accident, etc... so I laughed it off and kindly asked her for a new ticket. But instead of apologizing, or explaining, or handing me another ticket... or any of the normal reactions i expected to get back from her, she took 2 giant steps -- directly into my face!! -- and yelled, "Too bad!," then walked away. I just stood there quietly IN SHOCK and confusion by what had just happened... when another mom (who saw it all) came right over to me. She told me that nasty girl was actually the Parents Club President named Sherina Saul-Tuxson, and that she had personally WITNESSED Sherina plotting with another mom to win that very raffle that i was entering!!! I coudn't believe it -- THAT is why Sherina ripped my ticket away from me!!! This woman also said that all her friends witnessed it too! (Apparently Sherina isn't terribly good at covering up her cheating.) Sure enough, that mom who Sherina was cheating for, went on to win the raffle. I just could not believe that this so-called president was capable of such low-life behavior, especially at an elementary school!!! Her CHEATING and AGGRESSIVE behavior toward me was ATROCIOUS beyond words. The next day, i reported Sherina to the principal. Although the principal was sympathetic and apologetic, she told me that since the Parents Club is separate from the school, there was nothing she could do. That is why i'm posting here -- To inform other mothers in the school, and the parents club members, about what Sherina did to me, how physically and verbally aggressively she treated me at the very first event of our loving new school, and all for NO other reason than to BULLY an unsuspecting Mother, in order to CHEAT at an elementary school family raffle. How pathetic and shameful. I'd also like to please raise awareness to elect a NEW president! I CAN'T WAIT to join the Parents Club -- as soon as she is dismissed. There is just NO ROOM for that kind of disgraceful behavior toward our fellow moms, and especially in the midst of our elementary-aged children. Thank you.

The science classes are insightful, intellectual, not like anything I have ever seen in New York City, Las Vegas or Santa Barbara, California. How amazing is this treasure in Sonoma County! Each class was as academic as a museum. The teachers specialize by constantly training. They are literally finding new ways to make the students brighter. Brilliance seems to follow every student as the teachers work so hard preparing new ways for them to learn. I interview them. I sat down with international visitors. We watched them prepare to make the students smarter. The teachers I met had students that went on to graduate at Harvard University and Stanford University. In Santa Rosa, they prepare young, and find themselves ready for the best university on the planet. The academic interest in the students progress is extraordinary. The teachers get the parents energized. I began decades ago with the first students when the school opened. The irony is I remember when the builders were developing the school from the ground up because the houses in the area where as new as the building of Strawberry. We played soccer in a lake of mud nearly forty years ago. Now the grass is fresh, green and lively. As children years ago, we were going to Bennett Valley and Yulupa before Strawberry opened for business. Later I won the Bennett Valley Teachers Award thanks to the excellent leadership of my teacher, role models, because they were the adults I knew as my father was sick with cancer and my mother worked full time as far away as Marinwood near San Rafael. I say that the teachers of Strawberry allowed me to succeed because the events, awards, the care they gave me led to the confidence that helped me in career today. I see that the teachers are even better now with their increased technology, new text books and the trips like that one to Washington D.C. How extraordinary!

This school is very accepting of all types of kids. The last review talking about them avoiding to diagnose autism in the child to save money was very off putting. That is not even remotely a true representation of village. I just wanted to share here that village has many many students with disabilities and health issues and they go beyond to support love and nurture everyone there. They teach life skills, compassion, kindness, integrity and so much more. Each week begins and ends with a school wide circle. Parents are involved and everyone knows everyone. It is truly a special place for any child to experience young life and education. When my child came out as wanting to be transgender they entire school supported and began to call him by his new chosen name and gender. I couldn't ask for a better place to have my child. Every time the school year ends they have a graduation ceremony where the whole school gathers and they honor and reflect on memories with and about the graduating students one by one. It's very personal and special. It's a remarkable school and that 1 star review is not accurate.
