My family and I started attending VFC in 2015. From the first time we entered we have felt like we…read morebelonged and that we were loved. We've grown so much as indivuals and as a family, spiritually and emotionally. We have a deeper relationship with the Lord and a clearer understanding of studying God's word. I've been to many churches in my life, and although VFC is not the perfect church, it truly is the perfect church for imperfect people like me.
It's not a fashion show, everyone is welcome to come as they are. There's opportunities to dive deeper into the word of God and learn about walking with Christ through School of Ministry, Sunday messages which can be found online or on the podcast, Wednesday night small groups, and anhyone is welcome even if they don't attend VFC regularly or at all.
There's even a weekly Celebrate Recovery group at VFC where people from all backgrounds come together to celebrate what Jesus has done and is doing in their lives. We were not meant to walk alone no matter what hurt, habit, or hangup we have.
The community within VFC is amazing! If someone is hurting, sick, or has lost a loved one, there's plenty of people who will gather together to care for that person. The people of VFC are a family.
VFC extends this love beyond the church community. Everyone is encouraged to join in outreach missions within our county/city, nationally, and even international missions trips like Honduras, Hungary, and South Africa. Jesus wants us to reach the world and that's what we're able to do by the grace of God.
I am closer to my church family more than my natural family.. love them so much that I recently started working as a secretary at VFC as of 2020 and it's really trippy to see what really happens beyond Sunday morning services. What you see is what you get with the pastors, staff, and attendees. There's no sugar coated glaze about them.
The people (the attendees, pastors, and staff) of VFC are human beings so there's no doubt that there are times where anger, disappointment, bitterness, annoyance and hurt feelings may pop up from time to time. Such is life and that's why Jesus said He'd never leave His followers alone because He totally understood the life we live. God blessed us with His Holy Spirit so when we feel let down because reality doesn't meet our expectations, He is there reminding us to lay aside our human nature and take on His spiritual nature.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." - Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
There is love, honesty, empathy, accountability, respect, transparency, compassion, generousity, selflessness, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control present at VFC. It is a Holy Spirit-filled church fellowship.
I'm unsure of the encounter that the previous reviewer Mary P. had, for them to leave a review as such, but a review is a review. What truly matters is eternal. I pray that they (and anyone else reading this) knows Jesus Christ as their Savior, that Christ paid the price by dying on the cross to cover our sins (past, present, and future), that He rose to life again so we can have eternal life after this life, when we put our trust in Him. I pray they know that they are loved and matter to God beyond what any of us can ever imagine. I pray that God leads them (and anyone reading this) to a community of believers where they feel like they belong so they can walk on the path they were created for to be a light to others around them. That is what truly matters.
