Mr. Trash Wheel is a Baltimore landmark. He is a trash interceptor that removes trash from the Jones Falls as it empties into the Inner Harbor. He's powered by a water wheel and solar power. So why is he a landmark? Well, you put big, cute Googly eyes on something, and we all fall in love. I don't know whose idea it was to add those eyes, but it was genius. He's not just a trash interceptor, he's a symbol for the city. He has a merch store!
Technically, Mr. Trash Wheel is one member of a family of trash wheels. His relatives are around different corners of the Inner Harbor, but the original Mr. Trash Wheel (2014) is parked right between the Pier Six Pavilion and the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. No, he doesn't really do much, and there's nothing for you to do other than take a good look at him. But if you're taking a walk near or in the Inner Harbor, you're not far from him, stop by to say hi and take his photo.
He's just one of those quirky Baltimore things! read more
