This place is super awesome authentic with so much variety. The chille relleno taco was bomb. My friend got the gringo. Wow!! I got the pinada virgin pina colada's. The flavors were on point. Staff was helpful. It was packed but no wait at all. I'll be back before we leave,

This is the best restaurant we went to in Bacalar by far, with food that tastes amazing and is reasonably priced. Their menu is diverse and delicious! They also have super refreshing aguas naturales. We tried pretty much everything that we eat that's on the menu across 4 or 5 meals here, and it was all super tasty! Some stood out more than others to me. I loved the espinaca, mole poblano, and tinga de pollo. The espinaca was in a nice cream sauce and was super thick and rich, absolutely delicious in both quesadilla and taco form. As was the case with a lot of the menu, most was very flavorful and in my opinion was better in taco or quesadilla form. The burritos were delicious and grilled el dorado style just like my San Francisco, California favorite La Taqueria, but I found that the flavors of the many different options were typically more balanced and clear in either the tacos or quesadillas than the burritos. My personal favorite agua natural was the maracuya (passion fruit), it tasted like pure liquid maracuya and was sooo refreshingly cold in the sweltering heat! If you come to Bacalar, you have to eat here. Beware, cash only, so stop at an atm before making your way over!

Great food and prices. They take visa which is a plus. Open and airy. They have vegetarian options as well.

Top to bottom - chorizo y papas, chilemole pollo, pollo tinga. All came with rice for some reason. Chorizo and potato was the best.

Hit or miss. What they do well is actually very good, but it's hard to know what'll be good. The carne asada quesadilla was very good, although I think the bright green tortilla was made with food coloring... that part seemed unnecessary. The potato chorizo taco was also very good. Didn't love the chilemole or the rings tacos...

Best Tacos in Bacalar or even Mexico. From my 5 trips to Mexico, I still think about this place the most. The tacos are just so damn good. When I sat down, I was like I am only going to get 3 because I was going to the bar later and will be probably munching or something or getting full from consuming beer and liquor. However, I ended up getting like 8 or 9 tacos. The owner was surprised I ate so much and came by the table. I am not sure if I should be embarrassed or honored but I loved how friendly he was. Tacos are just amazing. I think I wasn't a big fan of the fried shrimp one but all the other tacos were great. Just order one each and use the hot sauces that are on the table. Lot of taco options! Conveniently located in town and the service was friendly. A ton of vegan options as well.

Imagine finding a piece or heaven then finding a restaurant that puts a little cherrie on top of it for you. Mr. Taco is literally a whole in the wall type taco join. Their fish and shrimp are fried in this delicious dough. Fresh conditions are brought to the table. Be ware!!! The green cause is super duper hot and I thought it was guacamole CASH ONLY! Ladies make sure you pick up cheap bracelet at the little shop next to the taco shop!!!

Delicious ingredients, big tacos, fun vibes, and friendly staff! If you're in the mood for tacos while in Bacalar, stop by Mr. Taco in the center of town. It's a small shop packed with employees, guests, menu signs, colorful decorations, tables that overflow into the sidewalk, and people that overflow into the street. Despite passing this place and its large crowd countless times, I brushed it off a "tourist trap" - someplace that's probably expensive, overcrowded, mediocre, and centrally located. The one part of my preconception that is true is the central location, which attracted my friend and I one evening as we hungrily placed a to-go order. My first reaction was surprise at two factors - the inclusion of beans/rice in the taco (which I had seldom experienced in Mexico) and the tastiness of the meal. Eager for more, my friend and I gathered a group and returned a few times for table service. I learned that the food/drink is actually delicious and caters to many palettes (meat eaters, seafood lovers, vegans/vegetarians like myself, and the gluten-free crowd). The bilingual staff are very friendly and ready to answer questions, offer recommendations, or make an accommodation. The owner often checks on guests to ensure quality and make a connection. Despite being a very busy place, the experience at Mr. Taco feels fun and relaxed - exactly how I'd want a beach-side taco shop dinner to feel.

One of the best burritos I've had. Mixed fish and shrimp. And eat it with the chile-chipotle-mayo sauce. So good!!!!

We were staying at an Airbnb close by, so walked here on a Monday afternoon with the hubby. We ordered the above to eat in and takeout for his parents. I think like 8 of those tacos listed were mine. I love trying all kinds of fillings so can't help it when at a taco shop. I have to order like one of everything. All the tacos were delish. I especially liked the pulpo / octopus and carne asada. The conchinita pabil was new, so I decided to try that without looking up what it was. It's traditional Yucatec Mayan slow-roasted pork dish. Glad I tried it cuz I adore pork. You can grab sauces for your tacos and they give you complimentary chips. Definitely a must eat for any taco lover in Bacalar.

We really wanted to enjoy the experience, but the service and food timing made it difficult. Hopefully, this was just an off night.

I came back 2x on my vacation after trying a few other places and Barbanegra was my favorite. First time I had fish tacos. The second time I tried 3 tacos: the chicken, shrimp and another fish. Let me start with the service - I just think some more training would be helpful. Our waiter was a little all over the place. Removed some dishes but not others. We asked for water bunch of time to refill the bottle they leave on the table and didn't happen so asked other staff. And finally the food all came out at different times. I get maybe they bring as ready but there was a big gap between when we got the fish tacos, vs other plates. The food was good but not great. Lacked in flavor. I ordered the Arrachera plate and was a littler smaller than I thought based on pics I saw on TripAdvisor and price. Others ordered fish tacos, cauliflower, ceviche, queso fundido, guacamole. I personally thought the ceviche was the best. Anyway - check em out if ya want - maybe a little off the night I went.

As we strolled up to the restaurant there was obviously a cook having a beak sitting on a small stool out front. I asked her what we should order. Without hesitation she replied huaraches. Now I believe the name refers to the shape being similar to the soles sandal's but the dish that arrives stacked with fresh crispy lettuce on top of a delicious mix of steak drunks and shrimp sitting on a 2mm thick handmade blue miaz tortilla. Two cream drizzles and the open fire kitchen flavours permeated the entire dish. We also ordered a felafel and a chilli rellano. Both were very good. Excellent authentic flavours packer full of loving care. Bravo and thanks.

Everything here was bad except the copal they were burning…read more We ordered a burrito, fries, guacamole, a fish filet, ceviche with tomatoes as a sub for pineapple and mango, and extra tortillas. We also ordered two drunk smoothies with two shots in each (basically blended alcoholic drinks). Out of what we ordered, here's what we got: -Filet fish, without extra tortillas, it was bad. -one blended smoothie with not alcohol to be tasted in it, and one regular mixed drink with seemingly only a shot in it -a small molcajete with decent guacamole and hard, overly greasy chips--this was the best thing on the table -the vegano burrito was okay, but flavorless And the fries that came on the side were too undercooked to want to eat -the ceviche had 8 pieces of fish that was basically just poke/sashimi because it hadn't soaked in the acid bath that is required to make ceviche, and it also had 10 pieces of shrimp, which was just basically Raw shrimp. The majority of what was on the plate was long, raw red onions and a third of a tomatoes that was sliced and laying on top. -I didn't order anything else because I didn't trust them to make anything good after everything we ordered was bad and they forgot our order of fries. The staff was also rude, and would walk away while we were still talking, and made no eye contact with us when we ordered or exchanged words. Our Spanish wasn't great, so perhaps they were just jaded about tourists
