we had a big group come here yesterday for dinner at our deceased grandfathers favourite restaurant to remember him. He would have been utterly disappointed by the service. We had a reservation and given a separate menu. But weren't given bread until we asked... Another group of relatives of 10 came in a half hour later then us with a reservation and received their food a good half hour before us. Our grandmother widow of the man we celebrated left saying that this used to be her favourite restaurant. WAS. If it wasn't for the food being good I'd give this one star. read more

Get the prime rib!!! It's amazing. I came here because one of one of the reviews said that "the prime rib is so tender that you can cut it with a fork" Well this is quite true... very tender. Everything was wonderful. The beef ribs were fantastic too they are giant ribs covered in bbq sauce. They reminded me of the ribs that you would get in the flint stones... ie Bronto ribs. I loved that they were not boiled. They were slow roasted and then broiled. Very meaty and had some bite to it and not fall off the bone. (Just like beef ribs should be). WOW!!!! I have supported this business over the years and came several times during covid. We sat outside in the patio and the food has always been good. So for my husband's birthday last night l made a reservation and we took a guest with us. The waitress was outstanding. As she was making my Long Island Ice Tea, we observed the owner nastily grabbing the glass she had filled with ice and then he threw the ice in the sink. After a minute or so of what looked to be an angry conversation she returned to our table all smiles and took our order. I ordered the prime rib winston, rare, my husband the new york strip, medium rare, our guest, the filet also rare. Our meals came. Now, l realize costs and prices have gone up, but we were not prepared for the minimal amount of mashed potatoes. A tiny single scoop of potatoes and my prime rib, after looking at the pictures from previous years on the other reviews here, was literally a very thin slice. It was delicious though. But after our confrontation with the owner l lost my appetite and took most of it home My husband's steak was more medium well and inconsistently cooked. He requested medium rare. One side was well done the other more rare. Our guest, who is much younger, but who unknown to the owner was our hostess when her steak came it looked like a hockey puck. It was Not rare and when she cut into it, the inside was still hot and cooking. It was definitely medium to medium well. She's a chef, she should know. When the waitress came over to see how our meals were , our guest said the steak was Not to her liking, and the waitress took it back. Seconds later she returned with the same plate stating the owner was rejecting her dislike. She then asked to speak to him. He came over, was very rude, admitting the steak was Marginally overcooked but because of covid he could not make her a different steak. He was rude, condescending, and basically forcing her to eat the now cold steak on a plate that had been back and forth across the restaurant, and which he stood holding under his face breathing on as he yelled at her. She refused to eat it so he took it back and at least removed it from the bill. Our waitress was so upset and another waitress approached and said...." l hope you don't judge us by the actions of the owner." He totally ruined a very nice evening. I will never set foot in this establishment again, and my recommendation to friends will be negative. He totally misjudged that the person he was yelling at was the hostess and person paying for the meal. Its a good lesson to not judge people by their age, looks,or appearance. This is our second time here. l must say come for dinner. our server is Miss Sara. l will give her 5 star. very curtious professional and love her smile and humor. I am a lover of the Keg but from now on, l will be attending here for 16oz steak. Everything was perfect. From the double Rum and coke to the Lobster tail, baked potato and escargot. l can go on but you must see for yourself. FYI come with empty tummy. 10 star read more

We were 6 guests. Our server was not very friendly. Food arrived "warm" but was tasty. Could have arrived hotter. Probably won't go back.

A hidden gem. If you are tired of the keg and really want to get your steak on this is the place. It is kind of old school, however the food is always presented in excellent quality. Lunches are great. There is fast turn around and they get the business people out the door in about 40 minutes. The prime rib sandwich specials are always great. Dinners are also always nice. I am not sure what magic they do to get the roast consistantly awesome every time, but I have never had a bad meal here. Service is quick, the place is always very clean. I miss the 80's decor. It was nearly back in style ... only a few more years! read more

Came here for lunch. The place is definitely dated in décor (hello, 1967!). Food is also pretty old school. Between us we had the beef ribs and the Cobb salad. The ribs were actually pretty good, cooked properly and with a tangy sauce. The Cobb salad was also pretty good, and between the two it was more than we could eat. Service was acceptable, and the prices weren't exorbitant, which as nice. Don't know if I'll be back, still looking for a good lunch spot in Sudbury! read more

It's been close to 30 years since last eating here. Food is still very good. As soon as I tasted those garlic mashed potatoes, all the memories came back. Had the King Cut medium rare and it was just the perfect portion. The Yorkshire pudding does not come with the meal now, you have to order it as a side. Surprised this place got such a high rating. Here goes, I ordered the Prime Rib a la Maison, the server recommended it as being one of the more popular dishes, I do not like imitation crab meat, but that was my fault for not understanding the menu description. But what was this taste of the prime rib? It taste as if the meat is not fresh. The a la maison was on the side for me (as I had requested), but it also tasted off i.e. the creamy stuff taste not fresh. My coworkers all ordered prime ribs, or steak, and someone ordered scallops (which she said was over cooked). The people who ordered prime ribs ordered it with heavier sauces, I'm guessing it masked the taste of the meat. The person who ordered the steak could not even get his peppercorn sauce. And no, it's not because I'm not used to eating steak medium. I'm used to ordering my steak medium well, at Ruth Chris, a proper, high-end steakhouse, I would order mine medium rare, and there it has no that unfresh meaty taste. Here, I ate maybe 20% of my prime rib, and my veggies. When the server saw I was done, she asked me if I wanted to pack it, to which I replied no. At this point, this would be a huge sign to ask if anything was wrong (as 80% of my meal was uneaten). Although our server asked at the beginning, she should have asked then and there as that was a red flag. They were too in a hurry to collect tips and bill. So they lost a chance to impress me as a customer. And when we went to pay, we asked for a receipt (as required for business dinners), the boss said he cannot give it to us. Why not? It's just a piece of check that you wrote up - at this day and age, invest in a restaurant software, it can't cost that much... Never again, I still cannot get the bad taste out of my mouth. The only good thing about this restaurant was its bread - which they don't make inhouse. It taste similar to The Keg steakhouse' bread. My advice, if you want good steak in Sudbury, go to The Keg instead. read more

Refuse to ever go there again. I've been meaning to write this but never got around to it, so here it goes. When my group first got in there (group of 6), 2 of the ladies right away commented on how old the restaurant looked. Definitely needs an update. It was a Christmas dinner get together for us so we thought we would come here based on the reviews we've read. We were insanely wrong and displeased with the lack of respect given from the servers and the boss himself. The server with a black pony tail was noticeably intoxicated and very rude to my partner when she questioned about one of the dishes she was interested in. (She smelt of alcohol, so based on her actions and speech, she was clearly intoxicated. This isn't one of those "I think she had something to drink" statements.) I have never seen something quite like that before, usually employers would be quick to fire anyone who would dare drink on the job especially since that is theft. After we were done eating what we could, most of us wouldn't eat more than 30% of what was on the plates. We proceeded to the cash where we waited for a good 15 minutes for someone to check us out. A boy who was clearly the boss's son, was checking us out, then the boss himself came up and started swearing at him saying he was talking with customers too long and he was messing up too much. (I'm repeating what he said in a nice way.) One of the other men that came with us had said to me after that when he saw the boss come out of the kitchen area to come behind the cash, he got a glance inside the kitchen as the door swung open and it looked disgusting. The only good thing that came out of this was probably the little blonde bartender, the strawberry daq, long island, and grey goose martini's we got were amazing. While we were waiting at the cash, she reassured us that someone would be right with us and that she was sorry for the wait, then flashed us a little smile. Oddly it helped to improve our night. Over-all I wouldn't ever go back there again, I also hope that little bartender we saw finds a better employer, anyone deserves better than this. Visited December 2015. read more

Always great food and service at Mr Prime Rib, if your from out of town you should definitely check out this place. Prices are reasonable, lunch menu has a great selection including specials, but for dinner the prime rib can't be beat, also it's locally owned and it's great to support local businesses, especially when the food is this good. read more

Dinner for 3 was $75, no alcohol. We had the prime rib roast with pasta side dish. The roast was generous and tender but very bland, no seasonings but I asked for freshly ground pepper which made it better. Pasta with tomato sauce was nothing ok, like the sauce tasted straight from a jar. The liver and onions was excellent. The pork ribs were tasty with seasonings but did not taste like fresh pork. The side veggies were a steamed mixture of fresh veggies but no seasonings. read more
