I had Mr. Plumber come out to give me a quote on work for my rental property. Their quote was 3x the amount another plumber had given me for the same job. Since my tenant would be responsible for payment, as she caused the damage, I asked her if she wanted to use Mr. Plumber since they were already on the property and she agreed. Big mistake! Although the plumber told me HIS CUSTOMER) that he smelled chemicals in the pipes, which would confirm that the tenant caused the damage, he later spoke to my tenant directly and told her that it's ordinary wear and tear. So now based on Mr. Plumber's interference, my tenant refuses to pay and I'm stuck with a $1500 bill for damage to my property! So I call Mr. Plumber, thinking they would own up to their mistake, but I was wrong. Although they claim their policy is not to deal with the tenant and they totally violated that policy, I'm still supposed to eat the $1,500 bill. Cindy their "customer relations" person seems to feel as though I'm unreasonable to expect them to do something. I recommend staying away from these large corporations as they have lost touch with their customer. I should have hired the smaller plumber that gave me the better quote. read more

We needed toilet valves and installation ended up over 400 per toilet fir parts that would gave been 35 at Lowes. Too bad because the service was good. Kitchen Sink clogged.. Plumber came next day (nice guy). He looked at the sink..opened up a tablet.. and said 500$ to unclog. That is beyond ridiculous. After calling the company (and a few others) I found out that most of the larger companies will not give estimates over the phone. They lure you in by a low call out fee that can be deducted from your overall charge BUT they refuse to give estimates over the phone. Of course they can provide the pricing as their canned pricing is readily available via their internal pricing matrix., they just choose not to.... So they wasted my time and theirs. A typical clog takes 45 mins to 1.5 hrs. to clear via a decent plumber..... That means they believe that $350-$500 per hour is a fair and reasonable labor rate. I call it price gauging. Spoke to 2 smaller firms and they all readily gave me pricing from $175-$250. read more

A few weeks ago, on a Sunday around 4pm, we called Mr. Plumber because our hot water heater was leaking water. We had a 5 week old baby at the time and were simply wanting to leave a message to schedule service for that week sometime. We reached someone and service was scheduled for that day! The technician (can't remember his name now) arrived around 5:30pm. He was super nice and very efficient. Unfortunately, we had to have our hot water heater replaced, but he had all the parts and supplies and took care of the entire job right then. It was so convenient while not breaking the bank. We didn't even have to pay a higher fee for the "emergency" on a Sunday night! We've used Mr. Plumber in the past and will continue to call them for service. We had new countertops and thus a new sink installed. We needed a plumber to retrofit the existing plumbing to the new sink and install a new faucet. It was a fairly easy job. I had just installed a new garbage disposal two months earlier. We were going from a two drain sink to a single drain. So the plumber needed to cap one drain line and slightly reroute the other into the center. Then simply reattach the garbage disposal. The new faucet was a single hole install. We also needed the hot and cold shut-off valves replaced as they tended to leak when the knobs were turned. My wife was out of town and I wanted to surprise her by having all the work done before she got home. It would be a tight schedule, but the final step, the plumbing, was scheduled to be done several hours before she arrived home. Since we have used Coolray for many years for our heating and air needs, we decided to go with their plumbing division, Mr. Plumber. The reviews were decent and people said their prices were fair. The plumber arrived and I had everything laid out and ready to go. I explained to him that my wife would be home in several hours (in hindsight, big mistake) and asked if he could complete the job before then. The plumber acknowledged that the job should take no more than 2 hours. Perfect. I was very excited to finally finish up several hectic days of contractors in our kitchen. But then came the estimate: re-routing the pvc pipe and replacing the shut-off valves - $352. Install the new faucet - $352. Re-attach the garbage disposal - $387. Total cost $1,091. I almost swallowed my tongue. The plumber just told me it would take about two hours. I told him that I did not only find that price high, I found it astronomical. He said that this was standard Mr. Plumber pricing and there was nothing he could do to change it. He agreed with me that there would be less than $50 in materials being supplied by Mr. Plumber - 2 new valves, less than a foot of pvc pipe and a few couplers and elbows. That meant that the labor was over $1,000 alone (the eventual work took an hour and forty minutes total). That means Mr. Plumber charges over $600 an hour. I could hire a team of high-powered attorneys for less than that. I explained to the plumber that I had installed the garbage disposal myself in about 30 minutes. All he was doing was putting it back in place and charging me $387. I told him I could reattach it 15 minutes. He didn't disagree, he just simply stated again that these are Mr. Plumber's standard rates. The worst part was that he could not leave parts like the garbage disposal for me to do. In order for their warranty to be effective he had to do the whole job or nothing at all. Well, now I had to decide whether to send him away and not have the job done when my wife came home. And I would have to schedule a new plumber which could take several more days. I believe the plumber knew he had me in a tight spot. I was kicking myself for telling him that I needed the work done that day. So I bit the bullet and had him complete the work. I will say that the plumber was very nice. He gave me good advice about using the garbage disposal and how to adjust the faucet if needed. As far as I can tell he did good work. Unfortunately he never turned the hot water valve that feeds our dishwasher back on. The next day my wife tried to run the dishwasher and it started making some gruesome noises before we realized what was the cause. I can't imagine any defense for this type of pricing. It's beyond ridiculous. I see many other reviews with similar price gougiFortunately my faith in humanity was restored several days later when an electrician came over to install 2 ceiling fans. Although he said he was not a Salesman he tried to sell us everything under the sun including a toilet that cost upwards of $800. You read that right $800 for a toilet all you do is go in it! This company is horrible. I needed a garbage disposal fixed so called them to my house as I had a party with over 20 people. They showed up in about 30 minutes and then installed a brand new disposal stating the old one was dead. The new one was the installed, they turned on the switch and nothing. Turn out a connection on the switch was loss which obviously they did not check. I had them take out the new system and replace with the old that lasted 15 years. They charged FULL price despite their admitted incompetence. I had a house full of guests so paid know that they had lost all future business from me (I've been here 30 years ago), that I would share this story with all my neighbors and friends and all the 10,000 IBM colleges in the Atl area over our internal blogs. Quick service and good plumber but the pricing is extreme. I had a leak in the water supply line that was repaired in an hour (I already dug it up) and paid $710. Even if the materials were $100, that's $600/hr for labor. The invoice doesn't break down the cost so I can't help but wonder if the pricing doesn't go up when you're not in a situation to negotiate. Something literally doesn't add up here. So I called and asked for a price break down. The person answering the phone said it priced by the job. I asked for the price of a water supply line repair separate of the materials used. After consulting with a supervisor he said, "it's more complicated than that". The supervisor was supposed to call me and never did. I posted a Google review and Cindy responded that it's priced from a price book based on the scope of work. I called her and didn't receive a response. Here's what's going on at Mr. Plumber - Magic Numbers. If you're not calculating the scope of work based on estimated man hours, you're just making up a price as you see fit. Refusing to give a cost break down is a great way to hide this. Do not use this company, unless you are made of money. The prices they charge are outrageous. There is a ton of wordplay in why they charge so much, such as "you pay for what you get" "our services are guaranteed" (with many stipulations), " we charge the same if we were out here at 3am", I could go on and on. I don't care about that, why would I pay extra for someone else's emergency? I needed a simple install of faucets, could do it myself (but kids and time wouldn't allow) and their prices were jaw dropping. Worst experience ever! After been given the runaround for three days, they ultimately refused to break down and itemize their invoice so that our insurance adjuster can approve the work. I have used them for a couple of jobs, granted they were good on the others and I felt they gave fair assessments, however, this latest was a total disaster! I had them to remove and install 3 new toilets in my home as their recommendation that it needed to be done, which by the way another plumber said there was no need to replace all. When they finished all of a sudden we have a water leak in the yard. The water company insists that the plumber did something to cause the leak, but they will not own up to it. Not to mention that I have spoken with the supervisor twice who promised to remedy this and nothing has happened. In addition to this, the toilets they installed are shaky, and they have NOT addressed this either. I would highly recommend you go another route if you need plumbing services, as they are not customer-centered or responsible at all! I can't say enough good things about Chris, the technician they sent to look at our problem. The outdoor faucet had been leaking for quite some time. Several plumbers had looked at it. One even made it worse. Chris took care of it promptly, replacing it and several related issues with the faucet and water line that goes into the house. Called because the ​toilet was not working and was told that not only would the toilet need to be completely replaced (or rebuilt for a lot of money), but the water pressure value (over $500) would also need to be replaced. Was also charged $49 for a trip charge. I decided to get a second opinion, so I called ARS Rescue Rooter in Marietta. The Plumber​ did not charge a fee to come out and immediately identified the problem. In less than 10 minutes he replaced a small part and the toilet was working great. He also checked the water pressure and said it was good and did not need to be replaced. Total cost: $120, compared to the hundreds of dollars I would have wasted replacing a toilet and water pressure value that did not need to be replaced. The guy from Mr. Plumber (think his name was Mark) was dishonest and tried to rip me off. He told me my water pressure was 125 and I needed a new pump immediately because of a leak I had. He quoted me $2,200 for all the things that I "had to have." I called another company in. They told me and showed me my water pressure was actually perfect, fixed my leak for $270 and told me I wouldn't need a new water heater for another year or so... At the very least get another opinion before you use these guys. read more

I paid CoolRay over $4,000 for an A/C unit this past summer and the salesman advised me that as a perk, we got a free plumbing inspection by Mr. Plumber, an affiliated company, for our home. Several months later I returned Mr. Plumber's calls to arrange for the visit. It was set up for last Thursday 12P-4P. They called me at 3P to advise their rep was tied up on a job and asked if they could reschedule. We rescheduled for today, the following Monday morning 8A-9A. The rep told me I'd be the first appt. Guess what? Monday morning 930A no phone call and no rep. I called CoolRay and they told me the rep could be at my home by around 1030A. I told them that was not acceptable and I didn't want them coming. I was supposed to be the first appt. but that did not happen. Mr. Plumber called me immediately after me speaking to CoolRay to say the same thing-approximate arrival time was 1030A. Again, I told her that was not acceptable as I was set up to be the first appt. of the day. My time is valuable too. After reading the other reviews on Yelp, I'm glad I cancelled the appt. CoolRay was great but Mr. Plumber needs to get their act together-very inconsiderate, inefficient, and I can't say enough bad things about the company. I would never use Mr. Plumber. read more

My water heater needed to be replaced so I contacted my home warrantee company. They contracted with Mr. Plumber to replace it. A journeyman plumber and his young assistant arrived at my house for the removal of the old heater and installation of the new one. I do not have a walk-out in my basement so they had to go through the house and down the basement stairs. When the job was done I briefly went downstairs to check on it but did not walk all the way around the heater. That night, I left for vacation and came home 3 days later. When I returned, I checked on the water heater to make sure no leaks and decided to walk all the way around it only to find the darn thing was dropped during installation. There was, a nasty, huge dent on the top left side of the heater. After many calls to the insurance company and Mr. Plumber, 3 weeks later (to include one no-show), they agreed to replace the water heater. When they finally showed up to do the work, it is the same plumber BY HIMSELF. I called my family to help him get the old one out and the new one down the basement stairs. Very disappointed how all of this was handled, however, I'm glad the nightmare is over and the water heater is working. So I initially was pleased with this repair aside from not getting 10% off(booking online) as advertised on the radio. My service was a rather costly sump pump quiet valve for 442$ parts and labor! During the consultation I showed the tech a room in my basement that is never in use and coincidently is where the main water shut off valve is located. This particular room has a drop tile ceiling. I provided him a ladder that he may attempt to follow the water line from the valve on the wall into the ceiling for an unrelated service matter(Pressure Reducing Valve) that he suggested needed to be replaced. He came back upstairs and we agreed on the scope of work and he got started. The job was completed in about 35 mins. He show me the installed quiet valve and insured that it was working properly and it was. What I did not notice is the door to the room where the main valve is located was closed. I go to the basement today and enter that room and my ceiling tile is missing. So the ladder is still in the same place, I go up to see if he inadvertently left it up in the ceiling across other tiles and it wasn't there. I go in the room where the work was completed and it's not there either. So my only conclusion is that he broke it and took it right out the back door with him and closed that door. It's been weeks and I'm sure it would do absolutely no good to contact them about this matter. However, I'm fuming that this tech came into my home, broke a ceiling tile, concealed it and never mentioned it. I understand mistakes and probably would have told him not to worry about it but the principle is what I take issue with. Definitely not what I would expect from Mr. Plumber. I'll be calling another company for the water heater I need to have replaced. read more

Would not recommend Mr. Plumber ever. Call to have a fix to a bathroom toilet shut off value. Since it was leaking and the valve not working, we shut off water to the entire house. An appointment was made for Monday night. Got a call from Mr. Plumber indicating the plumber was on his way and it may take a little while due to rush hour traffic. About an hour later I had a voice mail on my phone wanting to confirm someone was at home. However since they left a voice mail, they say they had to send the plumber on to another job. I called their customer service and they explained since they couldn't confirm someone at home, they had to send the plumber onto another job. I said I thought the first call was the confirmation call. The service rep should have told me in the first call to expect another call to confirm as he/she got closer. The service rep then said they can send another plumber out but it would be between 8PM and 11 PM that night. The plumber never showed up and no call. I ended up the next morning calling another plumbing service. (He showed up in 1/2 hour!) I finally got a call later in the day from Mr. Plumber indicating they could come out later in the afternoon. I told the service rep no thanks, we got much better service from someone else. read more

We had a water leak from the toilet, wasn't sure where it was coming from. The technician came and said it was a loose bolt in the toilet tank. He said it wasn't coming from the water line or wax seal so he tightened the bolt and left. A few hours later I noticed water around the toilet and called them back. On the second day the same technician came back, he wasn't exactly sure what was going on. He then said my water line was leaking and the wax seal needed to be replaced. He performed these services and again after he left there was still water leaking. New technician on the third day found that the toilet tank was cracked and the entire toilet needed to be replaced. I contacted Mr. Plumber to express my dissatisfaction with the entire situation, no one has ever returned my call or answered my email. Horrible customer service! Total waste of my time and money. I was charged over $600 for a service they are now advertising for $99. They guarantee the work for 30 days. Well apparently it takes longer than that for the tile in your bathroom next to the toilet to crack and be noticed after the toilet is not places 100% securely. I will not use this company again. Also, had another company come out for pressure issue. We had pipes replaced and rerouted and the valve moved and it cost less than $600. read more
