Ladies and gents, welcome to a five star food truck. The best way to describe my feelings for the Chanchito pork belly sandwich is to tell you that only a few days after returning home, I found myself in the kitchen trying to replicate it after having scoped out Aji Amarillo paste and researching salsa criolla recipes. The Chanchito is like nothing I have had before, and nothing like I would have thought to combine: sweet potato on a sandwich? But it works. It really really works. Now to replicate his "mum's chili cream recipe" and I'll never have eat another food item again. (PS grab the wings while you're there - smoky & amazingly unique.) read more
Having had a great Peruvian food truck experience at a local festival, were always looking for Peruvian when we get the chance. Friend suggested the Hamlet for lunch and didn't realize it was a conglomerate of food trucks. We wanted the pork sandwich and hubby got some wings and a burrito style sandwich of rice and chicken. Lilmissj wasn't keen on the burrito as it was a bit dry for her and the rice was a bit hard. Once you add the chimcurri and spicy sauce, it's actually quite delicious. The wings were so tasty! Lilmissj agreed and downed her own one! The pork was divine. Most likely we were still fairly full from brekkie so I don't think we enjoyed it to its fullest but the sandwich was heavy with sweet potato In the bun with the fatty pork. It's definitely not for the feint hearted and you need to enjoy that fatty pork! We didn't finish it off but would recommend this place if you're hankering for some Peruvian ! read more
