Last time we came here we enjoyed the food so we thought we'd return…read more This time, we were greeted by an extremely rude waiter. We arrived right before they opened to ask whether we could make a reservation for later in the afternoon. We didn't even get to ask about the reservation--first thing we were told was that they are not open yet (no "hello", nothing). I responded, "yes, we know--we wanted to make a reservation for later if possible." Then we were told, "well, if you come later and all seats are taken, then you have bad luck." Ok, so am I to take away from this statement that they don't take reservations? If so, just say so... We returned half an hour later--of course, there were plenty of seats. We picked a table (as is customary in Germany) but my husband hadn't even sat down when the waiter walked over--again without saying hello--to yell at him that he "take his water bottle off the table". Again, we hadn't even taken a seat yet, and it's normal to carry a water bottle on a warm day. At this point, we didn't feel very welcome and just left to take our business somewhere else. I will also say that this was not a language problem. I am German, and this entire interaction with the waiter happened in German language.

Not many options on a Sunday since almost everything is closed, which is really nice for walking with quiet streets in the fall! That said, I'd avoid this one. There are so many phenomenal restaurants in Berlin! The food and people here are incredible, but, like most localized spots in Europe, they can be cold to Americans. Next!
