The kicker though were those little croutons floating on top. That brown bread actually got better. I wish I had more. They also make fresh desserts there and I broke down and had a toffee banana tart with fresh whipped cream. Wow. I ate it in small pieces to extend the savoring experience. There are also roulades and other tasty looking fresh desserts and the breakfasts people were eating looked great!

We had been to the Tannery (also in Dungarvan) the night before, rated as one of, if not THE best restaurant in Ireland (a reservation we had for months) and we were sorely disappointed. The Lazy Lamb however was a welcome surprise. Irish with Mediterranean flavor, the roast lamb special was lovely - perfectly seasoned, juicy and beautifully served. The fish was fresh, vegetables were crisp and not overcooked, and the desserts were delicious works of art. Even the service was perfect - not overly solicitous. I live in a suburb of NYC and have been to some of it's best restaurants. Save yourself some money and disappointment and skip the Tannery. Go here instead.

Also, while many other similar restaurants would avoid putting too much shrimp in such a dish (as it is relatively expensive on their part) I am always impressed with this place as they don't scrimp of the shrimp! Their main courses are fairly substantial, so if you don't have a hearty appetite, perhaps skipping the starters would be ideal! That being said, the spring rolls are a must if you feel up to the challenge! Have often frequented the place on special occasions, e.g. birthdays, and the manager always brings out a free dessert for the VIP and the staff all sing happy birthday, which is a real treat, the cherry on top so to speak! Takeaway service is also an option, and there is a seating area available for those waiting to collect their order, with newspapers and magazines to read while you wait. There didn't seem to be any other ethnic restaurants apart from your occasional spotting of an Indian restaurant. So being the adventurous person that I am, I decided to try Emperor Palace. First of all, the manager Ming is a real delight. He made sure we were looked after from beginning to end. I really appreciated his hospitality. The other staff members were wonderful as well. We started with what is called lettuce wraps (in the US). I don't know what's is called on the menu but it's ground beef, spices, and cups of lettuce. It was delicious. For a main course we had a couple of sauteed lobsters, served on top of lo mein noodles. We had a side of asparagus. Everything was very good. Believe it or not, they make a delicious Irish coffee. I highly recommend it. Do stop by if in the Clonmel/Cashel area. Enjoy!

The staff are these sweet local ladies who have such a quaint little restaurant mostly catering to the tourist and locals. Menu seemed pretty traditional and straight forward. We ordered the ham and cheese sandwich with soup combo as well as bangers and mash. My bf liked his simple yet filling sandwich and soup combo. There wasn't anything amazing about the sandwich, but the carrot soup was quite tasty. I got the bangers and mash and loved it. It's probably my favorite Irish staple meal, and it was just what I was expecting. Delicious and just good for your soul kinda food.
