Dear Mozza, Over the years, you've been the place we'd go for special occasions. Every time we'd enjoy a dinner with you, we'd be bowled over again and again at the delicious food and the wonderful experience. I'm 9 months pregnant and it's Valentine's Day, so we of course we thought of you to celebrate the occasion. Then I sat in the car for over 2 hours while my husband waited outside to retrieve our order. There was no communication, no gesture to make it right, no apology from a manager. He wasn't the only one kept waiting on an evening that should have been spent with loved ones, but he may have waited the longest. This was the most horrible delivery experience I've ever had in my life. Put in a delivery order at 6:30. 7:30pm followed up. They said we should have it within 25 mins. 8:30pm followed up. They said the card had issues (it didn't. The server forgot to put in the expiry date). Said it would arrive shortly. 9:45pm followed up. They're sorry and will add in salads and extra pastries to the 5 pizzas and antipasti and biscotti we ordered. The managers apologies and says it'll show up in 15 mins. 10:15pm, still not here. No one picks up. I am on hold for 15 mins. 10:30pm, delivery arrives... with only 5 pizzas... COLD. Nothing they promised nor the rest of our order which included meatballs, knot bread, dessert etc etc. even came and the delivery guy says that was all that was given to him. I tried calling. Immediately. Someone answers and then says they will transfer me to the manager. I am on hold for over 30 mins and no one ever picks up. I try calling from a different number and again no one picks up. My card was charged the full ridiculous amount. Never going to mozza again. Ever. Ordered delivery from Mozza2Go on our wedding anniversary. Ahh, it was amazing. Got a bottle of wine, garlic knots, lamb sausage, chopped salad, olives, cheese tasting and cold cut. I know, it's a lot of food for 2 people, but hey, I can have leftover for 2 days, AMAZINGGGG... Food is good --fresh ingredients and just nice balance of flavors. Best pizza dough I've had. Online ordering sucks. Ordered at 10 am for 12 pm pickup. Got there at noon, didn't get our food until 12:50 and that's after checking with the guy again... apparently our food was just sitting on the table. They didn't call us! After all of that, my 8 year old had to use the bathroom so I asked. I was given a stern NO despite almost begging. Yes, covid. Yes, there's rule (maybe? Are we in purple or red? I can't keep track). We left, on the way home we went to another restaurant a mile away to pick up lunch for another family member. And yes - they let us use the bathroom. Damn good pizza. We had a reservation at Pizzeria Mozza next door but were getting tired and decided to just take out from Mozza 2 Go. Sure glad we did as the fennel sausage pizza was divine. The toppings were all delicious and the crust was perfect. We also ordered the meatballs al forno and the garlic knots, both of which were excellent accompaniments to the pizza. Step 1: Call in the order. I didn't think it was that popular that I would be put on hold, in line, on the phone, just to place an order. "You are caller number 3." My friend and I drove back to the hotel we were staying at, which was the swanky SLS Hotel. As we sipped on red and white wines, we devoured our pizzas. * Coach Farm goat cheese, leeks, scallions, garlic & bacon pizza: It was delicious. I loved the roasted garlic and the quality of the bacon on top. However, not all pizzas were made the same. My friend ordered the same pizza, but his came with much less bacon. He was sad. * Tomato, extra virgin olive oil & oregano pizza: Um, yeah, don't get this. It was very plain and basically tomato sauce on crust with a sprinkle of oregano on top. Regularly $10, you are paying for a cheese-less, meatless, vegetable-less pizza. * Butterscotch Budino: The best part of the dinner! Wow! A not-too-sweet creamy dream of butterscotch pudding topped with whip cream and caramel sauce. Good thing we ordered two of these. My friends and I were fighting for another spoonful! Had the Amazon Local deal for $35 for a 10 inch pizza, choice of salad or dessert and a bottle of wine. Of course you never see deals for Mozza so I jumped on this. The pizza Bianca was $2 extra but it's my favorite on the menu and it's so worth it. I still crave NY pizza but this delicious crust is in a class all of it's own. They were only offering red wine today as part of the Amazon deal, but when I explained that I have a slight allergy to some red wines, they were able to swap out a bottle of white. Staff at the counter was helpful, well trained and friendly. You would expect nothing else and you aren't disappointed. And of course the Butterscotch budino is just out of this world... there is nothing like it. It's like this creamy, sexy, rich deliciousness. I have yet to try Pizzeria Mozza, but I had a BlackboardEats deal of this take out version, which was the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the flavors. This isn't your average take out pizza. The freshness of the ingredients is evident. I can't wait to return and try the other pizzas and sweet treats. Caprese Salad (3 stars) - All the components were very tasty. My problem was with the proportions and portions. I wish there was more sweet and juicy tomatoes because my boyfriend and I were left with bites of cheese and pesto in the end. There was too much delicious pesto that I should have only poured half and saved the rest for later. Meat Lover's Pizza (5 stars) - This was an amazing meat pizza. I'm a huge bacon fan, but the yummy fennel sausage was the star. I loved the flavorful tomato sauce and the texture of the crust. Funghi Misti (4 stars) -This should be called the mushroom lover's pizza because it's loaded with plenty of wild mushrooms. Butterscotch Budino (3 stars) - I loved the sea salt flakes as an accent to the texture and sweetness. I loved the layer of caramel on top. Because of it's richness, I could only take few and small bites. I also had to share it even though I'm usually a dessert hog. Service (4 stars) - When I placed my order on the phone, the man I spoke to was very friendly and nice. I requested a 5:30 pm pick up. Although I waited a few extra minutes, they reassured me it was almost ready. It actually gave me time to look at all the items for sale, and I was tempted to bring home some biscotti. This tiny wait also guaranteed the pizza would be hot out of oven. I also liked the labeling and packaging. After seeing a late movie I was in the mood for some great pizza. I had been to the Pizzeria Mozza before and I left amazed at how tasty it was. I then remembered they had a take-out version around the corner. Perfect! Plus I love Mario Batali's food. It's my dream to eat at each one of his restaurants! We called in the order at 9:30pm. After fighting traffic we finally got there around 10pm. The store was already closed, but they had a doorbell to ring if you come after hours. We walked in, paid, and walk out with our awesome smelling pizzas and desserts. I only live about fifteen minutes away so when we got back the pizzas had a bit to cool down. One of the first things we noticed was the sticker that told you how to reheat the pizza. Reheat pizza? Everyone knows that one of the best things in life is cold pizza for breakfast. This is a fact. But I still love the fact that Nancy and Mario have so much pride in their food. This time I went with the salumi, mozzarella, Fresno chiles, and tomato pizza. This pizza was thin but still had puffy crust. As I said in my Pizzeria Mozza review, their crust is among the best I've ever had in my life! The ingredients here are always amazingly fresh and of the highest quality. It's definitely noticeable in the taste. For dessert I got the polenta cake with hazelnuts and almonds. I've unfortunately just found out about the wondrous almond. I don't have any clue why, but I never liked them as a kid. Now I can't get enough! This dessert had almonds on top that were sprinkled with powdered sugar. I loved it! My sister didn't like her dessert for some unknown reason, so I ate hers as well. Yes! She got the olive oil rosemary cake. It wasn't your typical dessert. It was most like a side dish you eat with dinner. But regardless, I loved it. LIke other yelpers, I had the 30% Blackboard Eats deal, didn't want to cook, and my BF had yet to try any pizza from Mozza, so it was the perfect opportunity. It had been a while since I'd had pizza from here and as much as I hate to say it, it wasn't all that. The flavors of the toppings were good, but the crust is what really disappointed us. It's just nice when you can hold a slice in your hand and not have it flop down. In my book, it should really be able to hold up the toppings and it didn't on any of the pies we ordered. The Sausage and Mushroom and the proscuitto and burratta were good quality and I can't say the crust was bad enough that it didn't warrant demolishing both pies, but still I was less than impressed. I made it out to Mozza2Go today, which turned out to be only their second day open! As a fan of Pizzeria Mozza, Mario, and Nancy, I was eagerly anticipating this new venture! First of all, the shop is beautiful, no surprise there! Although small, it is a "to go" place, so the setting is absolutely perfect! The girls working were very nice, welcoming, and polite, and Nancy even made an appearance! So exciting! After ordering, I peeked around and saw the rumored pizza school area, which is also quite beautiful and the set up is perfect as well. I can't wait for that to become available! I ordered a panini which was packed and labeled, complete with napkins and a to-go menu for future orders. Just a quick note, if you require napkins, etc. then you need to ask. My panini was pure magic. Excellent flavor, quality ingredients...everything you expect from Mozza! I can't wait to go back! Such a great addition to the LA Mozza scene! Oh! Also! Such a simple pizza but oh so delicious and flavorful. Fennel Sausage was delish- I like how they deconstructed it. The sausage by itself tasted like normal meat but when you eat it with the fennel the flavors meld and it tastes like an awesome italian style sausage. The Goat Cheese pizza was good- a bit too strong for my tastes- but still nonetheless very good. My first sampling of what Mozza2Go had to offer was years ago, but I still remember it ... I was hanging out at my friend's home in Silverlake, and he brought me back a most delicious Porchetta Panini from the shop. The palpably high build quality of the pork sandwich thoroughly impressed me, and I vowed to visit Mozza2Go myself. Unfortunately, it turns out that I'm not very good about keeping promises to myself ... my visit to the shop did not happen for at least a year or two. I finally got around to making the trip out to Mozza2Go not too long ago (hey, better late than never, right?), and decided to order the Porchetta Panini again - for old times' sake (stick with what you know to be good, right?). Unfortunately, while perusing their website, I noticed that the Porchetta Panini was conspicuously absent from the menu. Believing it to be a result of nothing more than an innocent oversight, I gave the shop a call and inquired if they still served my long lost love of a sandwich. The girl on the other end of the line replied in the negative - the Porchetta Panini was dropped from the menu (for "streamlining" purposes). All I could utter was "F***." So instead, I ended up placed an order for a pizza with the following toppings: bacon, salame, fennel sausage, pancetta, tomato & mozzarella. The pizza was ready for pick-up by the time I arrived at the shop from DTLA. For $19, I was handed an individual-size pizza of a high build quality level similar to that of the Porchetta Panini I had consumed years ago. Having said that, by itself, it will only satisfy the most meager of appetites. If you're starving to the point of being hangry, I would suggest ordering some antipasti, insalate, and/or dolci to accompany your pizza. And on that note ... While I was at the shop, I fell victim to an impulse purchase, and forked over an additional $11 for a 1/2lb bag of assorted biscotti. I found them to be a most satisfyingly sweet accompaniment to my savory pizza. Is the food here great? *Oh yes*. Yes it is. Is the greatness of the food worth the relatively prohibitive price tag? As someone who often falls prey to Veblen goods, I am going to withhold comment here - only *you* can decide. I say give them a try, and see how you like what they have to offer. I mean...i can eat here night after night! The only reason i dont is the price, which is the only reason i give this a 4 star review. I think especially for the 2 Go section the pizzas should be a little bit better price wise. I get why not but i think to be a bit more customer friendly that would help keep this restaurant going, even though it is still one of the hardest restaurants to get into (the fancy side-LOL). The food though is out of this world good! What a joke. We came to have lunch and simply wanted to wash our hands and use the restroom before eating. The manager would not budge on letting us do this. So we asked where we could go to wash up and use the restroom and the employee just gave us the "I dunno, go figure it out or deal with it" shrug. How do they expect to do business. If you ask me that manager needs an attitude adjustment. Even offering some sanitizing wipes or some kind of accommodation for their lack of a restroom would've been acceptable...customer service is act of "service" which they completely failed at. Few food experiences leave me wondering where to begin. Mozza--or in this case--Mozza2Go is one of those. To sum it up: it was that tasty. Mozza's pizzas are pricey, and they're not that big. But what they also are are 10 inches of round, bubbly perfection. Mozza combines the prodigious talents of two masters of Italian cuisine and the woman who brought artisan bread to Los Angeles. With their forces combined, they've created something that really is worth the hype. The quality of the toppings are top notch and the pizza crust is superb with its toasty aroma, subtle sweetness, and a crunch that's a sonic delight to my ears. Service at Mozza2Go was polite, but short of friendly. The look of the place was as polished as you would expect for an establishment run by celebrity chefs. Given that landing a table at Pizzeria Mozza on the fly is next to impossible, Mozza2Go is a welcome alternative for people like me who can't plan well enough ahead to make a reservation for pizza three weeks in advance. At Mozza2Go, you won't be able to enjoy the more complete experience of dining at Pizzeria Mozza. However, much of the Pizzeria menu is available here, and Mozza2Go offers deals on pairs of select pizzas at a lower price. Like the mothership around the corner, Mozza2Go is extremely busy during peak dining hours, so calling in orders ahead of time is recommended. So disappointed in mozza :( I've been wanting to try mozza for years so when i got the chance to visit L.A, i had to at least do take out! I know this 3 star rating makes it seem like I'm a hater, but I'm really not! I LOVE their sit-down dining establishment next door, Pizzeria Mozza. However, having a 2Go spot can be risky. As much as I am a fan of Pizzeria Mozza's pizzas, their take-out quality just doesn't compare. Even though I placed the pizzas on a pizza stone and popped it into my oven there was something missing. It still had the crispy crust and held its shape, but the flavor was lacking. I came because I purchased an Amazon Local deal: $25 for a 10-inch pizza; 1 Butterscotch Budino or Insalata Mista; and 2 nonalcoholic beverages. It was a rockin' deal, especially with the second pizza for $10. We ordered my favorite pizzas: Funghi Misti (an assortment of mushrooms with uber umami flavor!) and the Sausage Fennel (tip: take a fork and smash the sausage until the juices and oils take over the pizza with intense flavor). I still enjoyed it, but I much rather prefer dining at Pizzeria Mozza. Street parking is available along Melrose, but has parking time restrictions. I came exactly at 6p on a weekday and found a spot. There is also 15 minute parking available at the rear of the restaurant. I stopped by Mozza2Go to treat myself to a pizza with a discount from Blackboard Eats. It was a spontaneous stop so I didn't have time to call ahead and just pick up. I walked in (it was empty at the time), placed the order for my prosciutto pizza and waited. I was told it would be about 15 min. With people walking in, placing orders, picking up, I noticed that it seemed to be taking longer than anticipated. After about 30 minutes and an inquiry as to the status of my order, I finally received my pie. Unfortunately, by the time I reached my dining location (a mere couple miles away) I was disappointed to find that the pizza was barely warm. It was a delicious barely warm pizza though. Whenever I'm itching for some pizza from pizzeria mozza, I'm always turned off because of the restaurant's tight seating arrangements. I don't like how everyone is squeezed into every square inch possible. Luckily, mozza2go offers the same good pizza, but to go! They have more than just pizza, a few items are mozza2go exclusives, but I would urge you to get the freaking pizza, don't get cute with it. The pizzas come out just like how they would at pizzeria; airy, crisp and risen around the rim, thin and delicate in the center. And if you're not the brightest person in the world, they even give you instructions on how to properly reheat the pizza. Really convenient when you're craving gourmet pizza. Delicious! It was a long wait to pick up (1 hour for 2 pizzas) but once we finally got our food it was well enjoyed! I highly recommend the fennel and speck pizza which was so good. My boyfriend also got the burrata pizza. The popcorn was so amazing, which they added in complimentary due to the wait. I'll be back and order ahead or dine in next time! read more

That was really, really bad. Essentially a personal pizza for nearly $20, crust was so hard it was CRUNCH CRUNCH eating it, and the ratio of crust to actual pizza with sauce, cheese, and toppings was off just enough in the wrong direction to make me feel distinctly disappointed-- was I eating pizza or was I eating a cracker half the time?? Caprese was worse. Priced almost the same as the pizza, for I think it was 8 or so little cooked cherry tomatoes, salt and pesto sauce, and little bag bag (literally) of mozzarella. I get that such ingredients are not cheap, but compared to the presentation you get next door at the restaurant, this felt like one step above tossing grocery store ingredients into a box. Mozzaplex may be worthwhile, but I wouldn't touch Mozza2Go again. read more

So this is a tough one. The pizza is the one thing on the menu that I've usually ordered when getting food from here amongst other things but they're known for the pizza so I'm going to review it. The pizza is good and all but it's hard to justify spending over $20 per pizza when it's very easy to eat at least 2 whole pizzas by yourself! Each pizza is only 10" and is cut into 4 small pieces! As far as flavor goes, some are definitely better than others and I will give it to them that the dough is unlike any pizza you'll find in LA but at some point you have to ask yourself if the cost is worth the experience! Another noteable thing to mention is, it's definitely MUCH BETTER when you have it right out of the oven. If it sits around for any period of time longer than 10-15 minutes, it looses that special quality about it. I'd say if you're in the area and in the mood for something different that your willing to spend a decent chunk of change on, give it a try but make sure you eat it right away otherwise you may be disappointed! I used to love the meatballs here but something changed over the last year or so and they've lost that homemade Italian grandma feel. 3 meatballs will run you about $15 btw. read more

What to do on a hot Sunday lunchtime? Use your BlackBoard Eat 30% discount at Mozza2Go? It made a lunch for 2 a affordable $43 (otherwise a it was a $60 kick in the teeth...oh and no tip ;) ) Even after a quick peruse online I needed help to order. I was fine with the Mario's lasagne, the sausage and fennel pizza and the Nancy's chopped salad. But then I got stuck. The server on the phone suggested the farro, which is a type of wheat which is popular in Italy. Think cous cous- or bulgar-like. (It seems there's no end of wheat like foods - quinoa etc.) That was enough food. And the pizza was great. Not too big. Thin and crusty with a modest, but just right amount of sausage and fennel. The lasagne looked small in the plastic box, but it was rich and enough. The farro was fresh and light. There was disappointment in the chopped salad. For $15 I was expecting more..I was definitely put off by the salami ribbons. And I've never seen provolone cheese in Europe. It looked like something I'd get at Costco deli. Anyway, the recipe is below. Makes 1 generous entree-salad portion Oregano Dressing 1 clove garlic, minced 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano (I used McCormick's 1/2 teaspoon sea salt 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil (*Note: May not need all the dressing) 1. Mix the garlic, oregano, salt and pepper together. Chop the mixture together and use the side of a knife or a mortar and pestle to make a grainy herb paste. 2. Add the lemon juice and vinegar. Mix with a fork, allowing the salt to dissolve, then add the oil and whisk with a fork until well combined. The dressing should be thick with garlic and oregano. Salad and assembly 1/3 cup can chickpeas, drained 1/6 red onion, peeled and sliced into fine rings 1 ounce aged provolone, sliced into ribbons 1-2 ounces hard salami, sliced into ribbons 2 small pickled pepperocini, sliced into rings 1/2 cup grape tomatoes, sliced in half 1 cup iceberg lettuce, cut into ribbons 1 cup radicchio lettuce, cut into ribbons Mix ingredients together in a salad bowl. Love this takeout place! Lucky enough to find parking right in the front. The cashier was super friendly and I love when they're open to recommending things. Ordered and came back within 20 minutes. Got the Fennel sausage, panna, red onion & scallions Pizza and the Prosciutto di Parma, rucola, tomato & mozzarella Pizza. Both were amazing although I personally liked the Fennel sausage one more. Stopped in visit Mozza2Go on my way to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Ordered a pie, a mista salad, and a bundino to go. Whole operation from order to walking out the door took about 40 minutes. Why didn't I call ahead and be on my merry way after curbside pickup and spend the 40 minutes settling into my movie? Because the number posted on the Mozza website is incorrect. I would get a busy signal ALL the time (I called the line again, while waiting, to ensure that the phone was working - it was not) before having my call dropped. (-1*) How am I supposed to reach the pies if I can only order them in person!? The little shop is cute and small, selling a small variety of pre-made salads, cookies, and pantry staples. Service is okay, the cashier/employee was very matter-of-fact and insincere. The actual pie is very greasy. Nice crust, liked the speck. Bundino was...watery, eww. Salad was nothing special.
