Amazing employees and management really has heart! This store has everything for your best friend including a fancy gourmet bakery. I shop here all the time for food and toys for my corgi but today they really went above and beyond. When I sadly admitted I couldn't afford the much needed cbd treats for my dog today, the owner hooked it up with a sample of some (about to be phased out of the store brand) medicinal treats to hold me over until i could afford the much needed tincture that is helping many dogs I know treat arthritis pain and making a huge difference in their mobility. I'm making my way around all the cute pet shops in the area. This one offers many edible items for your furry friends. Lots of food options and treats too. I'm sure you could find whatever you need. We were just browsing, but I found these awesome dried salmon skins for chewing for my sweet puppy! She loved it -snipped off a bit for her when we got home and she finished it after a little while. One of the staff told me about the awesome patio space in the back, where she said that patrons are welcome to hang out with their pets. How cool is that? When you have 4 "fur children" going into a store like this is akin to entering the gates of heaven (angels, trumpet fanfare, the works). Great selection of leashes, collars and dog apparel. I got my little terrier mix the cutest skull and cross bone sweater. This is coming from a person who will blatantly point and laugh at people who dress their dogs up, so you know this sweater was pure awesomeness. I bought our big white German shepherd a quality leather collar with silver details that screams "I'm a badass"...now if only he didn't have the mentality of infant poodle we'd be all set. The doggie treats look tasty (never actually tried them myself, but I have eaten canned cat food before, in my defense, there was money in it for me...) and the gang tears through them with no stomach problems so I'm a big fan of that. My one and only complaint is the prices. This is not the place to go if you just need to pick up some generic dog supplies, save that for a trip to Petsmart. I've been looking for a pet supply store for a really long time. I'm picky. I mean, REALLY REALLY PICKY. Like, Goldilocks picky. After having a pet who had a ton of health issues, some of which were quite preventable (such as diabetes), I have educated myself on feline nutrition and try to balance the cost and quality of what I'm feeding my furry four-legged kids. I went from feeding kibble (quality kibble, but kibble nonetheless) to only canned to only raw (with canned as a last minute time saving thing). I came to Mouthfuls because it is one of the few pet stores near me that carries the brand "Small Batch" raw frozen food for cats. I was greeted upon entrance (which makes such a difference) and quickly got into a discussion about feline nutrition. She was VERY respectful of my need to balance the cost with the quality of food. I came home with samples galore and great food (a couple small batch chubs and an 8 oz tub of raw) for my cats that's cheaper than what I'd been feeding before. I feel like I've finally found the just the right pet store for me and my little furries. read more

I (and my dog) absolutely LOVE Mouthfuls. I make the trek all the way from City Park every 2 months to fulling stock up. I've tried and I've tried and tried my darnedest to find a place with such helpful, nice staff (they take your bags to your car for you!), the amazingly wide variety of organic, high quality food, or the fresh duck sausage links, scapula that still has fat on it, or my dogs favorite: the people grade jerky! Wild boar! Ostrich! Version! Alligator! Beef! Duck! OH MY! They've kept my business for 3 years and I always feel more satisfied than the last visit. I love how Mouthfuls has SO many options for treats! I swear, if I came here too much, I would have the most obese beagle in history. I think I have more fun picking out her treats (duck jerky or a doggie donut today?) than she has eating them...well, maybe not. The staff here is always really helpful and will go out of their way to give you any information on the product you are eying. They have a huge collar selection, too, with a lot of cute designs. They are a tad out of my price range for a normal day but maybe a doggie Christmas gift from Santa Paws? It's possible. Come check out Mouthfuls, also, if your furry friend is on a special diet. They have a great selection of dog food and will give you an honest opinion on which food will be better for your dog. I just moved to a house in Berkeley about 3 blocks from this store and found this store while walking my new dog. Lucky me! What a wonderful store to have in my new neighborhood. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, they carry the very BEST in dog food and treats, and they always have a fresh baked biscuit for my dog when we come in. The staff also clearly LOVE dogs because they gush over mine every time we come in (which is a quick way to a dog-owner's heart). The best part is that even though it's a small, local business, the prices are very fair. I can get Orijen for cheaper than anywhere else I've found locally or on the internet. When I moved to Colorado, the first thing I did to blend in was adopt a cattle dog. A year later, I still love the dog, but I seem to be inconstant need of toys that will keep him entertained. I used to buy the standard squeaky stuffed animals and tennis balls, but I've decided this dog needs heavy-duty toys. Enter Mouthfuls. This is a great neighborhood pet store with reasonable prices. The space is obviously smaller than big box pet stores, but they have a lot of fun and unique items. They had several options that were heavy-duty rubber toys that won't wear out overnight. The prices may have been about 10% higher than they are at large pet stores, but, to me, it's worth it to support a local, neighborhood business. The staff are very friendly and they allow dogs in the store, so all in all, I would say this is a very good boutique. I will definitely be returning! read more

We dig Mouthfuls! The staff is useful, but grounded in their extensive knowledge. As much as it is a boutique shop, I never feel like an up-sell victim. They do often encourage locally made products, but that's good by me. Samples galore, and always a treat for the pup. Aside from a few random toys, our pooch is completely outfitted by Mouthfuls. They mostly have exactly what you need, without the barrage of cheap choices that is big-box pet stores. It's funny too, Tennyson Street being lined with communal doggie water bowls at every shop, but our dog will only drink from the Mouthfuls store bowl, when out gallivanting on Tennyson. So they have a huge selection of random stuff you could get for your dog. Some of it necessary, some of it useless, and most of it OVERPRICED. The staff really wasn't friendly or helpful, there actually was a tad bit of awkwardness in the air. They offer a variety of frosted dog cookies, organic dog treats, some selection dog clothes and harness' and most organic pet food--but the coolest thing in the store was the manta ray and shark spine dog chews!! They were pricey-I think around $20 but they could make a unique dog lover gift!! I came here specifically looking for a cute harness for my little Star, and left empty handed--the semi-nice looking ones for a dog about 7lbs started at $40--Ill shell out the money if it's cute enough but not for some generic nonsense! This was my first time being tipsy and hanging out in a pet store. I have wanted so badly to stop in here and shop for the longest time but 1) I didn't have a pet and 2) I'm not nice enough to buy my friend's stuff for their dogs. Now I have Titan, the best dog in the world...he deserves delicious treats and fancy gifts. Walking down Tennyson street for First Friday, I walk in with my man and our friends who have two dogs. There is a table of chewy things that cost around $0.99 to $9.99 or so. I picked out $17.00 worth and my friend was recommended something to ease her doggy's stomache. The owner had made a "treat" for adults, consisting of ginger vodka, it was frozen deliciousness. She was great, she thought my dog was gorgeous (of course I have pictures of him on my camera) and she gave us samples of dog food because we're still debating what we want to feed our little dude. So, I pretty much can't wait until I get to shop there again, minus the pre-boozing part and see what they have to offer. It's so full and fabulous. I want to buy everything...this scares me because I'm this excited about dog things..what am I going to be like with a kid? Yikes! read more

My puppies love it here - they can always count on the staff telling them how adorable they are and feeding them plenty of little treats. Mouthfuls has a fantastic selection of American made bully sticks, treats, etc. that I stock up on and this is where I buy the dogs' schmancy food every month. They're also the only place I've found that carries harnesses small enough for my one ridiculously tiny dog. In addition to that they have plenty of cute accessories, collars, leashes, beds, toys, just about anything you could want up to and including doggie ice cream. Many people would probably consider it to be rather pricey and froufrou and they'd be right, but I spoil my dogs mercilessly so I'm okay with that. read more

They even have a area for cats..not near as big as for the dogs though:) Got my kitty a little cloth ball and she LOVES it. I have spent quite a bit on kitty toys and this is her favorite. You know how you feel after shopping in the same old bland grocery store and you accidentally stumble into a Whole Foods for the 1st time...? That's exactly how you will feel going into Mouthfuls! The staff are AWESOME and the selection is just enough and not too overwhelming. Their treats are good quality and no junk. Our dogs even used the non-sedation teeth cleaning that they support a few times a year. It was so nice to have our dogs awake and alert with beautiful teeth...and no sedatives! Additionally, I love that Mouthfuls offers the highest quality pet foods and that they promote organic, non-additive, grain-free, sustainable suppliers. An owner of both cats and dogs, their health reflects the quality of the food that I get at Mouthfuls. They are all at their correct weights, their coats are shiny and supple and their oral health is excellent. Mouthfuls is the best pet store I have ever been too! They provide small town service and a great attitude to every customer both human and four legged. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and truly wants to help you find the best option for your pet. My dog was getting sick over her food and they were so concerned and walked through every food option in the store for me based on my dog's flavor preferences. If you want to spoil your dog (or cat, but mostly dog), take her to Mouthfuls! They carry all the high-end stuff yet manage to pull it all off with a laid-back, "feed store" type vibe. Sure, the prices are sky-high... but fancy doggie stuff is a niche market and the suppliers all know it. And really, for all the Unconditional Love our mutts give us, can't we treat them to a $15.99 Shark Spine every now and then? Yes, it's a real shark spine. High in chondroitin! Long-lasting! You can also find dried stingray tail here, if you're so inclined. Even though it's stocks all the super-spendy stuff, Mouthfuls manages to avoid that icky, Cherry Creek feel (I won't mention any stores by name, but you dog owners know what I mean). There's nothing snooty or pedigreed about Mouthfuls, with its cement floors and piles of stuff cram-packed into every last cubic inch of space. Yes, you can bring your dogs in... but bigger pups might have a hard time getting around in there! Also hard to move around: strollers. You know... just FYI. The staff is way friendly and more than willing to come out from behind the counter and help you navigate through all the stuff (SO much stuff!) to find that perfect treat, toy, collar, bed, or sweater. And although I'm not the sort of girl who dresses up her dogs, Mouthfuls has the coolest little Jolly Roger skull and crossbones sweater! Very helpful staff (I was totting around a 7 month old baby with me) so multi tasking is taken to a whole new level! But I needed to pick up some dog food and Emily B suggested this place. They even have road side assistance (you don't even have to get out of your car, call ahead and let them know what you want and they will bring it out to your car for you). A very helpful man helped me pick out two special bones for my dogs (both 30lbs) but my boy chews toys like he is 80lbs, and my girl licks rather than chews... so I got two bones customed to their chewing needs. I was VERY happy with his selection. They also have a rewards program for their dog food :) read more

We visited Mouthfuls for the first time on Saturday and I'm in trouble...this store has such cute stuff for fur children. The staff was also very helpful. We were looking for a harness for our dog and knew nothing about styles, fit, etc. Not only did they point us in the right direction, but we were able to take our dog outside and walk around to test it out. We will definitely shop at Mouthfuls again and hopefully support it more than relying on Petco or PetSmart (if we can afford it). read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. It is charming, hip, expensive, and has a good selection of dog and cat food, supplies etc. I get my wet cat food from this store. I love supporting local, independent shops when I can. The only thing I haven't liked is their service because it has been inconsistent. At times I think they are completely ambivalent about their customers, other times they seem more interested in dog owners, and there have been times I get the sense that I am a valued customer. I have interacted with all of their staff, so I am not sure what to make of my experiences. Also, on two separate occasions they charged me incorrectly for my purchases. I get annoyed by simple details like this, which is why I am not 100% in love with this shop. I will continue to shop here because it is local and they carry the only wet cat food that my picky cats care to eat. I do like that they have a punch card so when I buy a certain amount of cat food I'll get some free. That is always appreciated, especially considering that each can is a buck. read more

I love this place! Huge selection of fun stuff, and I appreciate the Buy 12-Get One deal since when you feed your dog good quality food (instead of the scary mystery ingredient foods like Iams and Science Diet) it costs a little more. When I kept losing my stamp cards, they even offered to punch new ones for me on the honor system. I asked for help picking out an indestructible toy for my dog who suddenly started demolishing all of his cloth and plastic toys, and the tough orange ball you can stuff treats into is one, still intact six months later, and two, his favorite toy ever. We also asked for advice when we adopted our cat and got some good information and a bunch of free samples of food to try. Yes, sometimes dog stuff is expensive, but the margins small pet stores make on selling food are so small, they have to keep the lights on somehow! And while that nyla bone might be cheaper at Petsmart, is anyone there going to have a thoughtful conversation with you about the ingredients in your dog's food, whether the toy is a good match for the kind of dog you have, or slip him a few treats while you're in the store? read more

This tiny pet store packs a ton into a small space! This is a higher-end, boutique type shop. I would definitely recommend for CBD or other specialty products hard to find. I ended up getting some lavender calming treats for a tooth cleaning procedure. The manager offered me a money back guarantee and that was nice to hear when buying expensive new product. Speaking of teeth cleaning, I believe they also host K9 Smiles events. Look them up on Google if you want an anesthesia free cleaning. I went to one at a different location and loved the K9 people but not the doggie daycare host. I think the whole experience would have been better if at a comfortable place like Mouthfuls. read more

This is a great store! I actually found it somewhat by accident - we attended a class called "Preparing your dog for Baby" before our daughter was born and it was held here. Depending on the food you choose the prices are comparable to "high quality" food from the chain stores. I love the selection of food and after all the pet food scares in the past couple years it is worth a little extra money to know the food I am feeding my dogs is safe. They also have a great selection of natural chews, treats, and other dog products. I recently purchased a "ThunderShirt" for our dog who is afraid of the storms and it really does work! My favorite part (coming from a mother of a young baby) is that I can call when I am out front and they will bring out the dog food and run my credit card so I don't even have to leave the car (which can be quite a hassle with a baby). read more
