Bigger size and still $6 cheaper

New pet owner who has been going to Mouthfuls for 2 months. I thought this was a great pet store, but I wish I had adventured out sooner. This is a boutique pet store with huge markups. They mark up items to the point where it's not right, bringing my four star down to a two star. My three issues with Mouthfuls is 1 - (my biggest concern) As mentioned, items are significantly marked up, and I know that's probably going to be expected being in this neighborhood, but if you are not looking to spend an extra $5 - $10 on a mediocre product, please reconsider. Example: Before I knew what ingredients to look for regarding pet urine, I asked the staff member for a suggestion and ended up buying Unique Pet Care Odor + Stain Eliminator (see attached) This stuff is minimally effective, and after looking online, other's product reviews confirm that. Out of the two or three options Mouthful's had, this was recommended. The more frustrating part though is the price. $24.99 for a 24 fl. oz. spray bottle. Admittedly, it was a stupid purchase on my part. To put it in perspective, you can get this for $18 on Amazon... or you can get a 32 fl. oz. size for same price at Ace Hardware. Either way, I found the pricing to be ridiculous and now I'm discouraged to ever come back again because I don't know what products are actually worth the buy. 2 - Friendly atmosphere, but staff doesn't seem very knowledgeable when you have questions. This is regarding pet cleaning products or food. Very nice people but that was just my perception. 3 - Parking situation is not ideal. Yes, they do have some within alley in the back of store, but good luck ever finding out unless you ask.

Ok I am going to say I am blown away by how much I loved this place. I recently got cat and they have an entire room of just cat items. Tons of toys and all kinds of unique quality cat food and treats. The staff hooked me up with some free food and treat samples which my cat loved. The dog area is huge as well. Anything you want for your dogo is there. You are welcome to bring your pet to browse with you. If you are an animal lover you need to go here. Now! This is probably the best pet store in the world. You can tell they care about your pet

Absolutely love this place and the staff. So friendly. Wet food, dry food, frozen treats, bags of food, freezer food. Toys, accessories, strollers, dog cloths, beds, and a deli case full of treats. Our dog fell in love with the lamb treats. They also have backpacks so we had to show them pictures of our dogs in the backpack that we use. I WOULD definitely go back, I love this place.

The personnel are super helpful and accommodating. The woman that helped me was patient with me - I brought my new pup so she ran several collars and harnesses outside to test best fit to maintain social distancing. She listened to my new pup troubles and offered suggestions - even gave me a little sample bag of treats!

Mouthfuls is wonderful. Stopped by and was pleasantly surprised they have an entire cat ROOM for food/toys/beds as opposed to just a cat aisle. I found a scratcher set that looked modern and thought my kitties would like it. Turns out it had a bit of cosmetic damage to it, but I was offered a very generous discount. Bought it and brought it home. The kitties actually prefer it with the fabric liner hanging down, but I glued it and it's as good as new now. Mouthfuls gets two paws way up from me!

Bought a quality backpack for my pup here last Sunday and he got a treat and lots of attention too. Fast-forward a week later and we are sitting outside eating dinner at Atomic Cowboy and he won't start whining/howling. Usually he does this when there is a dog nearby he wants to play with, but there is no dog anywhere in sight. We soon realize he is looking right at the pet store across the street; he must remember it from a week ago and wants to go back. He clearly loves this place and can't wait to return. Hopefully it will be open next time we walk by!

They know when we come home with goodies from Mouthfuls!

Pet Supplies might appear to be a small store, BUT it is packed with amazing isles of Pet Goodies…read moreand SELF DOGGY WASH STATION, with Ample room. Pretty Eyes, (my service dog) and I have been to several Pet Supply stores and my preference thus far is Wheat Ridge, off of Wadsworth. Immediately we are greeted with smiles and how can we help. BATH PLEASE for my dog, to be clear. They hand us a bucket, ask if we prefer 3 towels, OH YES! Fortunately we have our own brushes, for all too many other patrons have taken off with what was offered for years. No Problem and off we go. Pretty Eyes is READY to get CLEANED with special shampoos and conditioners. The on duty gentleman scurried towards the back to clean the plethora of previous customers, while stating, they have been inundated with Doggy Washes this day. NO Problem for a few moment wait. I unleash my Service dog and open the gate, she is off to her favorite side, jumps in and waits. I must mention, the water hose is "Very Durable" a bit stiff in operating, although they are generous in offering aprons, expect to get a bit wet and be prepare in managing the volume first before starting the wash including your choices of shampoo/conditioners. Yet, the choices are wonderful, from Oatmeal shampoo to shampoo/conditioner in same bottle and more! Ready to towel off! They do have a LONG hose for drying, it is a pitched sound, your dog may or may not care for, HAVE YOUR TOWELS READY! This is a fun time, and NO RUSH. Their set up "A Bucket" for all the fur no longer needed, a place to toss your wet towels and leave your bucket or return the bucket to the front desk. GREAT SERVICE. There is also an extra pricing if you choose; either $14.00 per visit or if one pays up front $40.00/each bath will cost $8.00 Have fun!

I went to this PSP recently to look for raw for my dogs. I…read moretend to gravitate toward the freeze dried raw so I focused on that and I always check expiration dates before purchase. I found 10+ items that were expired still sitting on the shelf. No lie, one expired in 2023. I looked at the frozen raw and there were SO many expired products as well. I found a product I use that was expiring in less than a month and tried to see if I could get a discount. The associates and store manager couldn't approve a discount and said they couldn't call the GM (not that I asked them to) as "he doesn't like to be bothered". Most, if not all, PSPs give discounts on products expiring in a month or two but this place seems to not check expiration dates at all or be accommodating to customers.

Planet Pethood is a nice little pet food store at 43rd & Tennyson, right next door to Wine Jesters…read more(the new little wine shop in the neighborhood). The store has various brands and types of pet food, treats, and toys. She also has a few adoptable cats and dogs that were obviously given up by their uncaring people parents. The owner is a vet tech and a vegetarian, and she seems to care deeply about animals. The shop is not as big or as fancy as Mouthfuls pet boutique down the street but it carries the dog food we buy. Nature's Variety is a great natural dry dog food. Our dog loves all the flavors... and while it is more expensive than grocery store dog food, because the food has less cheap "fillers", dogs actually eat less than they would of other "cheaper" brands. So, the price is actually only slightly more more expensive when you factor in the whole bag lasts longer than the same size of cheaper brands. http://www.naturesvariety.com/ 4 1/2 stars because she cares about the animals!

This small and very adorably designed pet store in the Highlands area combines a charming retail…read morespace with a passion for rescued animals. You can view animals available for adoption- usually cats or small dogs- every day during store hours. The store owner describes Planet Pethood as, "a politically correct pet store." I can't justify giving any less than four stars to a cute shoppette that combines support for pet adoption and rescue with a fairly nice selection of foods, treats, toys, leashes, and everything you need for your dog or cat; and Planet Pethood fully deserves the four stars it's getting. I do, however, have some minor gripes. For starters, both the store itself and the website are unclear on exactly what Planet Pethood's involvement with Planned Pethood, the low-cost vet down the street, is. Nowhere can I find an actual percentage donated to a specific organization, and as a rescue person that sets off a serious case of nerves. The website describes the store owner as having her own rescue- but where is the name, the 501(c)3 status, the official website? Also many of the links point to Planned Pethood, but nowhere does the store owner declare an official affiliation. My spidey senses would be beeping if it weren't for the clear support of rescues via adoptable animals in store. I'd love to know if this store donates its profits, and if so, what percentage and TO WHOM; also, how closely, exactly, it is related to Planned Pethood. Second, I have a few snipes to take at the dog food selection. Canidae and Timber Wolf are excellent choices, but where is Innova Evo? I wanted a bag of Innova Evo Red Meat, but left empty handed because it doesn't appear to be on the shelves. And Avo Derm? It uses ground corn in several formulas- NOT exactly up to my pet food standards. Breeder's Choice is similarly well packaged but lacking in actual quality. However, for the slightly less picky than myself, Planet Pethood seems to be a nice pet supply store with many good choices and a true desire to support rescue and adoption.
