As you drive onto the campsite there are sacks of logs for you to buy - because here you can actually have a proper campfire(in the allocated fire circles. The site is a couple of large fields, a pond with a small kiddies playing area, a well maintained shower block and nothing much else. Set in the most idyllic out of the way place (although theres a couple of small pubs a short walk away). I live about 15 miles from here, and we often pack our tents after work and pop down here to spend the night chatting and relaxing round a campfire. Brilliant

They always have a good range of both narrowboats and cruisers for sale. The marina has 160 moorings and facilities such as toilets, showers and launderette, slipway and hoist. They also have a couple of day hire boats available which makes for a fun day out. There's a well stocked chandlery too, it is on the pricey side but you can also get the benefit of their advice when buying which can be helpful for the boating DIYer. The caravan park has privately owned static caravans and also touring pitches and seems very popular in the summertime.

Your typical Blackpoolesk place on a smaller scale. You can ride small boats on the lake and there is parking close by but this can be limited. During half terms and school holidays there is usually a fun fair on in the car park so you may have to park out of the centre and walk in

I really do love this place, even though I only live up the road, this is where we had our first camping experience and it was great. You aren't alone either as this place is always packed to the brim no matter what season and other people that are staying there are willing to help you and you can make some great friends. If you want a pint, the pub is only up the road and does some cracking meals too. If you have travelled a long way then there is plenty to do like visit the little town of Uppermill or hop on to a train to Manchester which is about half an hour away.
