I LOVE DR. B!!! Dr. B and the entire staff are incredibly caring, knowledgeable, and absolutely amazing. I had the best experience possible on Monday. My 11-year-old dog Cooper was very ill. On Sunday, I had him at an emergency vet near Williamsport. They were extremely dismissive and $475 later, I had zero answers. I was able to get a next day appointment with Mountain Shadow without being a prior client. They scheduled me the very next morning. I knew I made the right decision as soon as I walked in the door. Dr. B suggested an ultrasound and minutes later had a diagnosis and treatment plan. I am now a lifetime client and have already recommended Mountain Shadow to several of my friends. Thank you so much Dr. B and staff! I also have to say that it is crazy to me that there are any negative reviews of Mountain Shadow. I read another review that says not to pay attention to the negative reviews, and I echo that sentiment 100%. My dog was not doing well at all, but when Dr. B got on the floor with him to introduce himself, Cooper lit up and was trying to get on his lap. They are amazing. Sweet, and they acclimate and make changes based on your pets needs, i have a reactive dog and they had the people in the waiting room move to a certain spot so my boy wouldn't be stressed leaving. Best decision was switching to them. 11/10 recommend. read more

Please don't let some of the negative reviews steer you wrong... which often tell half stories anyway. We utilize these highly educated and all over wonderful doctors, vet techs, staff and groomers for both of our cats. They've been boarded, needed vet care and we've used them for grooming..we're so grateful Mountain Shadow is a full service facility in this respect and all of us will truly miss them when we move out of the area. Both our cats love going here! When they needed vet care, both the vet tech and doctor spend one one one time assuring their comfort before they start treatment. When the cats are boarded, they usually provide with food (or you can provide) and can share space together. The doctor does daily check ups, and they call if concerns crop up and they may need to administer treatment. They are also given ample attention and playtime too. The grooming schedule may have some limitations, but it's also worth it. Our cats always feel so relaxed and comfortable here. Thank you! read more

I have been taking my pets to Mountain Shadow Vet for years. Great service until recently. I called them when my cat was in clear distress and I was in a panic and crying. The woman who answered the phone, when I begged them to see my cat A.S.A.P. after explaining the situation, told me that I did not have to be rude. Excuse me? When your pet is clearly in distress and possibly dying, you are not going to be calm. Mountain Shadow clearly needs to train it's front desk staff about compassion and understanding. Mountain Shadow was recommended to us by a friend when we were looking for a new vet. (Our previous vet seemed to be more interested in making money than providing quality pet care.) We are so grateful for this recommendation! We travel all the way from Kutztown - about 33 miles one way to bring our pets here- and we have been doing so for years! The staff is very welcoming and professional, and sincerely care about our pets. The vets have been right on the money with every diagnosis. For routine check ups, they have been thorough and honest- and we really appreciate that! Our cat and one of our dogs needed operations. Both were well cared for and they did NOT OVER CHARGE us! We adopted a pitbull from ACCT in Philadelphia. She was abused and trusted no one to clip her nails. The staff at Mountain Shadow gained her confidence and we now take her there to have her nails trimmed. This in itself, speak volumes about Mountain Shadow! Mountain Shadow is the premier veterinary hospital around here. Very knowledgeable, thorough, caring, friendly, compassionate, well-equipped staff. They also have a lot of meds in stock so I don't have to make a second trip to the pharmacy. They do many types of services. My Casper has to have teeth removed. They did a full exam beforehand and found a slight murmur in his heart. They asked me if I would like to have an echocardiogram done since they were afraid of putting him under anesthesia. I agreed and the results came back, no heart trouble. So the teeth were removed and everything went smoothly and Casper made a full recovery and he's like a young cat again. On any of my other visits I would have given them a 5 star review. I'm not going to bash on a business, especially during hard times such as Covid! Also- one bad sheep does not make a bad flock! I have been going with my Animals since 2008, so 13 years now, but after my visit yesterday, I have lost complete confidence in them and am taking my business and babies elsewhere! I brought records from my Breeder and their vet to our FIRST Well Visit. All they were to receive shot wise, were there Rabies shots! They JUST got their final vaccinations 8 days ago (I got them this past Saturday). Well, a Nurse (I'm not dropping names) misread my babies hard copy (HOW you can't see dates, when you went to school for it, yet I'm a lay person and read them right off to the Tech who called me right back who was in direct contact with the Dr AFTER, is beyond me!). The Dr. had JUST been in the room with me, telling me what Beautiful & HEALTHY babies I had & I'd have nearly a lifetime with them! To this lady bringing them back OVERDOSED on Distemper COMBO Shots! I get them home and they were NOTHING like themselves (NOTHING like a normal shot day either). Their temperatures, especially the one- was 103.3. It killed me, I took them to make sure they were ok & they'd stay that way- NOT GET WORSE! On the POSITIVE side of it! The DOCTORS are AMAZING, but just as in the Military- EVERYONE has a job to do & if one person or a few are slacking- your ship is sunk! I will give credit to their Chief of Staff and their one Tech who went above and beyond and still stayed positive even when I voiced how hurt and upset I was and said I no longer trusted them & would not be returning. Who knows, it's was only a one time bad experience for me in 13 years of going to them, but that INE mistake COULD have possibly taken not 1 but 2 of my babies lives!!!!! read more

I was told by one of their vets to take my animal home to die. { who did end up dying after taking to another vet who diagnosed the problem correctly but it was to late because of mountain shadows unprofessional staff } Unfortunately I trusted them with another beloved pet who was misdiagnosed and ended up dying as well. read more

I took my last pet here when I moved to Pine Grove and wish I had moved sooner. I was constantly told my yellow lab that I rescued in Iowa was overweight and not to worry about the "lab lumps" she was sprouting. She was a senior and was showing typical lab aging signs. They even tried to have me put her on a 1 cup/day food diet which had her crying and only lasted 1 day. I moved back to PA and took her to the fancy vets in Palmyra who charged an arm and a leg and suggested a diet dog food. When I finally moved up here I had good old Doc McCue make a house visit for her shots and when I showed him my concerns he suggested I take her here for a lump that was making her limp since he only does house calls and also a weight evaluation since her build wasn't showing obesity. So glad I did, she had cancer and those were tumors, not cysts, and her chest had a large one that the vets in Palmyra called fatty tissue. The lump on her leg had advanced too far to remove so I was given an antiinflamatory and pain pills to keep her comfy until she showed it was time. I have just adopted another senior lab and have every intention of taking her to this hospital for her care. read more

Don't ever take your animals to Mountain Shadow Vet. This is the second animal that I have taken there and they misdiagnosed. First was my dog, he needed a major surgery and they sent him home saying he just had a lung infection. We later went to a different vet and he ended up passing away despite the new vet's best efforts, maybe if the surgery would have been done earlier he wouldn't have. My guinea pig has been getting sick so we made the mistake of taking her to Mountain Shadow, the vet Dr. Dumbfuck, I mean Broshkevitch, said she was just old and we should take her home. We thought it might be her teeth and when we asked him to look he replied with, "Well I can't really see them." So we took her to a different vet 2 days later, they right away knew it was her teeth, they floated them but sadly she passed away during the surgery because she was too malnutritioned. While I am pleased with the care offered at this veterinary office, I have never had an appointment that didn't include waiting for 30 minutes to be taken into a room. The most recent appointment included a routine procedure for my pet, which took 15 minutes longer than what it normally has. Terrible experience. Brought our dying dog in, and was quoted around $200. Were then slapped with a bill for around $700 after a day and a half. Paid for a cremation, and then they turned around and refused to give us our dogs remains after making payment arrangements because they decided they wanted something different. Every time you talk to these people you get a different story. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. They are all about the money and nothing else! read more

I had a terrible experience at another vet, which made me search for other local vets. My dog was experiencing extreme weight loss despite a ravenous appetite and several frustrating visits to a different vet for months and our first visit had me hooked. Although we did not get an immediate solution, the vets stuck with it and were willing to listen to my ideas and not do unnecessary tests and lab work without my consent. Our first visit, and every one after, the vet would sit on the floor with my dog and get to know her instead of just taking a history. They would go over potential issues and what a test was for before performing it. The techs also seemed to really enjoy their interactions with my dog, who is a real sweetheart! They truly care about your pet and not about the money they can make off of you unlike other places. My dog is still alive due to these amazing vets and technicians. read more
