Well, it's amazing to see all the pearl clutching over the Moulin Rouge being in the red light district! You mean there's gambling in this casino? And yes.. there are pickpocketers all over Paris, especially in areas where tourists lose their situational awareness. So bring your brain. That being said, my husband greatly appreciated the thorough security pat down which gave him the FULL experience.. 5/5 would recommend. The food is shockingly great. The sounds of champagne bottle popping everywhere really adds to the ambiance. The place was completely packed to see a tried and true review complete with feathers, sparkles and full body makeup. Love!!!! Background note - I'm a dancer & a dance teacher! That being said - I LOVED the performance! It was so fun to watch the woman & men perform, the costuming, the different styles of routines, the athleticism, all of it! I am extremely conflicted here. First off I didn't know this place was real, thought it was just a movie & broadway show. Anyways, overall the show was pretty cool. I've never seen the movie or broadway shows so I didn't quite know what to expect. All I knew was that we were doing their dinner and a show package. For their food they had I believe 3 different menus of differing costs. They had 2 "regular" menus and a vegetarian menu from what I remembered. We booked months in advance but I believe ours was the cheaper of the "regular" menus. Before even picking I remember we were a bit conflicted with the choices because each menu had something that we were interested in. I didn't take a pic of the menu unfortunately. It was a bit dark and I was really just tying to enjoy the experience and vacation with my friends. What I can tell you over all is that while the food was interesting and had some elements that we liked, overall we left feeling a bit disappointed y the food at least. Dessert ended up being our favorite thing, well, that and the bottles of champagne that we had with our dining package. Back to the negatives, one thing that really stood out to me was the general toughness of their proteins. I won't go so far to say that the food here was bland but it was definitely lacking a bit for us. One caveat I had taken into consideration by the end of the trip though was that from what I had heard, in the US we are used to a lot of seasoning/salt/etc meanwhile their palates are adjusted to needing less of these things so to them what may be delicious is lacking for someone from the US. Anyways, on to the show. What has me conflicted here was the quality of the show. It's basically a fairly adult burlesque. This is the only one that I have been to so I don't have much to compare to however, I don't imaging most others having the same elements as those done here. They had an aquatic segment that I would have never expected. I don't want to give too much away because I'm not sure if they rotate parts of the show or if they keep it exactly the same. In short, there is dancing, music and other physical displays that were quite impressive to see. While the food for the price really has me wanting to give them a 3 (out of generosity), the show ALONE would keep the venue at at least a 4/5. As for the service, I'd give them a 3 at best as well. It felt like we were not checked on after the final courses were dropped off and almost not at all in between courses. As for the ambiance and decor. Well it was a bit dimly lit location inside, even before the show it wasn't the most well lit. Not really a complaint I just think that's the vibe they were going for. The decor also fit well for it being a French burlesque, I'm not quite sure how else to put that. Definitely a pricey experience, but hey, when in Paris. We got the tickets with dinner included, but there's also tickets for just the show. Definitely think there could be some improvements made to the experience considering the price, but happy to have checked an item off the bucket list! Doors open at a certain time, but there's a massive queue once you get inside the building - I think we waited at least 30 minutes to get seated. They check your bags when you enter the doors (before getting in line), and they told us we couldn't bring our chocolate souvenirs inside, so they held onto it for us. After waiting 30 minutes, there's another room you enter, with a bag / coat check (backpacks aren't allowed), so not exactly too sure why we couldn't have just checked in our chocolates there. The seating inside is SUPER crowded. I think I had to stand up at least 3 times to let the people behind me get up and get through to use the bathroom. There's also not that much room to tilt your chairs, so I was also getting slight neck fatigue from looking at the stage. Also as heads up, if you're a party of 3 or less, you'll likely be paired with other people at the table. There's a band on stage singing during dinner service, which was nice. They served a special 3-course Christmas menu, where you can choose from 2 options within each course. I got the scallop carpaccio, meagre fish, and hazelnut plume. The seafood in general was pretty tender and soft but was on the saltier end. There was definitely a higher focus on presentation rather than taste, but I enjoyed the various sauces and garnishes on the dishes. For some reason, everyone's desserts were delayed, and came 30 minutes after we had finished the main course, and only 10 or so minutes before the show was about to start. Seems to have been some logistical issues there. The show is very flashy, with an impressive rotation of dazzling costumes. The dancers are all high energy, although that can also mean that they're slightly out of sync in some certain numbers. The songs are lip synced - so don't expect Broadway live singing. Between the dances, there's special acts like circus rollerblading, contortionist, and acrobatic balancing, which was quite impressive. It was fun seeing the iconic can-can and love how all the dancers were performing with a smile. Heads up - most numbers are topless so make sure you're going with the right group of people haha! Do I think there would probably be lower ratings in general if this weren't THE iconic Moulin Rouge? Possibly. But I do think if it's within your budget and you're already in Paris, might as well experience this once. read more

This is probably one of my favorite things we did during our time in Paris! I'm a big lover of live theater, so this was right up my alley. I didn't really know what to expect coming in; I had seen the movie (which now I know is a very different thing) but I at least knew about the singing and dancing. It was a pleasant surprise to get to see the cool tricks and stunts added in, as well! All of the performers were phenomenal. The theater itself is beautiful on the inside and out. Well this place was sooo cool, very retro, classy and fancy. You can get tickets the day of but recommended to get tickets in advance just to avoid the possibility of disappointment because you couldn't get in. It's highly suggested that you dress up for the event avoiding sneakers or shorts for guys but I didn't see this rule being enforced because I saw a lot of people in sneakers lol but anyway... This place has the option of dinner and a show or just the show. If you choose to just see the show, youll come at a later time and possibly won't get the best seats since they'll accommodate people that will get the earlier to have dinner as well. I went for obviously both because if I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna go all in! We had to wait outside inline but not for a long time, once inside, they had the option for coat check for a small fee, then they proceeded to scan out tickets and take us to our seats, they choose them for you according to the number of people in your party and I suppose, first come first serve type situation. We lucked out and got amazing seats, there were some empty seats at our table but we knew they would fill up after dinner... and they did lol. The ambiance was so retro, you felt like you went back in time, they had some performers, they were singing classic French songs and then they switch it up to english songs, some people even got up to dance, the lights were nice and soft, very romantic and no children around minus a few teens. They had a pretty simple menu, you choose an appetizer, a main course and a dessert. (Pro tip) look at the menu beforehand so you know what you want. That way you get an idea and order right away. Their food was pretty good, I enjoyed it a lot, very tasty. I do wish they had more non-alcoholic beverages besides water and coke lol. The actual show was fun, lots of glitter and glam AND topless women (if this isn't your cup of tea, prob best to not attend). The music was fun and lively, the dancers for the most part were pretty good but I must say, they weren't perfect :x , they were a bit off and not synchronized completely. If you're familiar w the rockets at the radio city music hall in NYC, you'd be disappointed, specially for the price of the ticket because yes, it was VERY expensive so I truly expected perfection. This is the classic. If you're a fan of showgirls or musical numbers or Vegas-style revues, you should see this original. It has some variety acts and smaller numbers in between the big musical numbers. If you've seen this type of show before, you know what to expect for pacing. The show is high energy, the numbers are fun, the girls with the magic of costuming & stage makeup all look absolutely lovely. This is France and this is Moulin Rouge, so of course some of the numbers are largely topless. Some dancers remain topless for much of the show. If the human form embarrasses you (or you have a jealous GF/spouse) you might want to go elsewhere- I did see some patrons starting to get that narrow-eyed irritated look on their faces, tho maybe they had just run out of champagne. Know your partner and her comfort levels. Speaking of champagne, the overall process was surprisingly clunky for how long it's been in operation. There's a very slow-moving line to get into the venue (get there at the START of the time period suggested if you want to have time to settle down), with waiting for individual servers to seat each customer. You picked specific seats on the website, even premium priced? Nope, they've already packed people in and you get whatever's left. You pre-bought champagne or wine? Not so interesting to the server, who asked what I wanted and never delivered. It took several attempts to get my 1/2 bottle of bubbles, and in the end they tried to give me 2 of those bottles (I only bought one). The champagne was excellent- but this is the easy part, for a place that's been running for so long it should not be a struggle. My night was a sellout even for the late show, so there's not much option for requesting other seats. Note the iconic windmill was repaired this past summer, so it's working again (it broke back in 2024). I like this sort of show, so I give 4 stars, and it's a very classic Paris experience. They tell you doors are at 10:45 for their late show and then you're waiting until 11:15 to enter the place packed in like cattle. Getting service was quite difficult. They make you pay immediately. (Keep in mind you cannot order food unless you're booked specifically for the dinner shows only). The show: spectacular. I'd say it's better to be middle midway back or at a top row for seating (again no options on seats) I was surprised by the Acro performances and the fun costuming. Tickets for a 11pm show on a Tuesday. Yes only when on vacation and in Europe- they are night owls!! .Buy your tickets online in advance because they do sell out. Anyways the pre show arrival included a lot of standing in line, going upstairs and downstairs. Very crowded, waiting in a warm environment and a somewhat slow process. . Anyhow when we were finally shown to our very, very tight 6 person table. The 3 of us were seated in small chairs across from a shared table wirh 3 others. We were personaly served a bottle and half of champagne for the 3 of us! Because of the tight seating arrangements just say there was no going to the bathroom once you were seated. The show started around 1140pm and lasted about 90 minutes. The performances were amazing, the costumes were colorful and beautiful. The show was fast moving and definitely entertaining with some really talented dancers Remember several of the performances the woman are toppless and wearing thongs so if you are a conservative type maybe not the show for you. But it's completely classy and after a while you don't even notice it because of the creative choreography. One thing to note is I followed the upscale requested dress code. I wore a black dress and heels while many others wore sundresses , jeans , many wearing sneakers or dreaded flip flops. While I probably wouldn't wear 5 inch heels again maybe a kitten heels or dressy flats like my girlfriend did. Mainly due to the amount of standing prior to the show . Afterwards it limited me to going straight back to my hotel instead of walking around the area after the show. However I would assume tourists coming to the fashion capitol of the world could arrive more stylishly dressed for one night. Come on folks step it up.!! It was as they say, C'est Magnifique! We had Logan as our server, he was amazing and attentive and even better being a ManU fan as we are too! We ordered from the Toulouse-Lautrec Menu, which changes every season. The starter of the Tataki Tuna was so fresh with the citrus flavors. I got for my starter the beef cheek and it was so tender and perfect - I didn't want the flavors to end! For my dessert, I had the entremet which was creamy and fruit forward. My birthday celebration at Moulin Rouge was truly magical and everything I had hoped for! It was literally everything I wanted! I came for the 11 pm show, and though the ticket states doors close at 10:50 pm, there were still people rushing in past the deadline. There are 2 lanes, the "fast pass" and general admission. Seating is not assigned but allocated on a first-come, first-served basis by ushers. Those with a "fast pass" have a separate entry, and are seated before the general public. As a solo attendee, I was promptly seated in the front row, right by the stage, offering an incredibly close view--I could even see the dancers' sweat! The show itself, along with the performers and costumes, was breathtakingly beautiful, elegant, and seductive. I couldn't stop gaping at how wild and mystical everything was! Among the performances, my favorite was a captivating water routine by a soloist who exuded the grace of a mermaid or siren. She was stunning! Note: many of the performers' costumes are topless, following French fashion norms. I opted not to order food or drinks from the venue, as several reviews had mentioned their subpar quality. I would advise enjoying a meal and drinks beforehand. Lastly, a word of caution: the venue is located in a somewhat sketchy area of Paris. This is the second time I watched the Moulin Rouge show. The last time I watched, it was more than 30 years ago. When I walked in, I completely loved the vibe of the show room, the yellow and red lights made it inviting, mysterious and romantic. Seatings are tight but the service was good. We were served with a glass of champagne followed by a starter, main course and a dessert. Food overall is good. While having dinner, there were 2 singers who performed some good songs to encourage a warm and welcoming experience. The actual moulin rouge production has improved a lot, costumes, music and lighting improved a lot. I like that they have different themes, in terms of the stories. All the performers work really hard and they are very professional. I like they added some gymnastic type of performance and diversify the show. A 3.5 experience: In my opinion the Moulin Rouge show is a little bit like a cross between the New York Rockettes and Cirque du Solei with a bit of comedy and partial nudity. The costumes are so beautiful and dazzling. The acrobatic man, the comedy acrobatic duo, the skater couple, and a couple of the dance numbers were entertaining. However, some parts of the show lacked anything interesting. The clowns and the cancan numbers were among my least favorite. I came for the Christmas evening dinner and a show. The dinner was definitely not the best dinner experience in Paris but it was okay for this one time experience and service is not attentive. It took 30 minutes just to get someone's attention to simply ask for water for our table. Also, if you have dietary restrictions, I would recommend skipping dinner here since the menus are prefixed and very limited and just book the show tickets only. The seating in the theater is very tight and hard to move around while seated as all the tables are packed together. My dinner table was located in the middle of the floor and a bit off to the left side of the stage. If I knew what I know now I'd probably checkout how much more it'd cost to get seats much closer to the stage as it was hard to see everything on stage since lots a taller crowds were seated in front of me. Moulin rouge TLDR/Short version: Took in the late night performance with a bottle of champagne for two. Value for money and a spectacular show. Review: (Some spoilers) The venue lovingly maintains the character of the old school music hall complete with many of the old fixtures. We took in the late night Moulin Rouge show with a bottle of champagne for two which we didn't finish after a couple of healthy wine pours at dinner (but did donate to three girls as a treat - bon chance mademoiselles!). The 11pm show tickets are thoroughly worth it for the 90 min performance with a 25% price reduction. The prices were reduced late night due to the cost of transportation from the venue late night. Pigalle isn't an unsafe area per se, but at 1am some of the typical late night city nightlife does become a little more intense... While many of the show's songs, some of the outfits, and 90% of the male dancers were passe/cheesy/kitsch, the venue, choreography, costumes and girls were fantastic. Most striking of all were the elaborate head pieces, which seemed to become more extravagant with each number. For any sensitive Americans still scared of naked breasts, be warned the show is an elegant celebration of topless and semi topless dancing. Highlights of the show aside from the traditional cancan, were the transition acts including a magnificent display of strength and balance from a male acrobat, incredible flexibility from a contortionist and an acrobatic combination of both from a dancing couple. Of the main show performances the aquatic display was excellent. Pro tip: buy the champagne package and get there 30-45 mins early to secure a good table with view on the floor, as all tables fill up and you're escorted to the first open seats. Champagne purchasers receive seats with an unobstructed view otherwise the others are crowded around in fairly tight proximity. read more

This was a bucket list item for me ever since I first saw the movie when I was a little kid. I'm so glad I finally made it to the show. The 11:30 show goes until 1:30/2 am but it's worth a late night. Some of the acts are really amazing - the woman in the swimming pool, the man and woman with the knives and the two men doing incredible acrobatic holds. It's a very random mix of acts but it all kind of works. Definitely glad we made the time to do this! I understand why some people complained. I'll admit - we did NOT get there early. We got there at 11:10 and the show started at 11:40. We were seated at 11:38. As you can see from my video, we still had fine seats. The dinner is a little weird because you eat first and then you watch the show. So we were really full and tired before the show even started. The "Can Can" was anti-climatic with just a few kicks and not even the finale of the show. As disclosed by our waiter, the show has "modernisé" and changed from it's classic routines. Half the performances are men dancing and/or Cirque de Soleil like strength feats. The preshow live band built some good energy but performed mostly American 70 hits. Dancing in front was encouraged. The website and tickets declare a strict dress code but at least a third of tourists were in casual wear. Honestly, that pardoning the flipflops and shorts took away from the respectable ambience but what can the staff do. You will enjoy the night more if you play your part and dress up a bit. The late night show is cheaper in ticket pricing as it is without dinner but that is what you want ~ the food is horrible. Like others, this is a thing you come and just do to say you did it. However, I would recommend NOT getting the dinner. Food is just okay and kind of pricey. HOWEVER!! You will be established and have the front ish view of the table if you get dinner. They seat the people without dinner behind the dinner people. So I did feel kind of bad because we had a pretty good view but I'm sure the people sitting behind us had trouble seeing. I just had my sister in front and even then it obstructed my view a good amount. Yes full boobies do be out. Wasn't expecting that and also I felt the show was lackluster. I've gone to better ones in Vegas where the theatrics and choreography is much better. Sometimes dancers were offbeat and it seemed a little messy at times. In 2010, I studied abroad in Paris. I was on a serious budget and the one thing I wanted to do was go to the Moulin Rouge, but I couldn't justify spending hundreds of dollars to go. Enter 2022. I return to Paris and what's the first thing I do after I have my plane tickets? Spend the hundreds of dollars to go. Was it worth it? Absolutely! I purchased tickets for two for the 9 PM showing. They have a second showing at 11 PM, but I'm an old lady and knew I probably wouldn't stay up that late, especially given the jet lag we knew we'd be experiencing. Anyhow, you have the option to add on dinner if you so choose, but we opted against it having read reviews that the food was not exactly memorable. That and honestly for more money it just didn't seem worth it to us. That said, we did get the champagne package, and wow, they were super generous with it. We had an entire bottle for ourselves and just barely managed to finish it within the two hours of the show. The show itself was unlike anything I've ever seen. I expected full-on cabaret, but they had very little of that and instead it seemed very Cirque du Soleil with acts such as a woman being underwater with snakes. You seriously have to see it to believe it. That and they don't let you take photos inside anyway. As for the set-up, the earlier you get there, the better in terms of seating. We had a great view of the stage. Probably the only complaint I have is that they pack you in like sardines. So many tables, so many chairs. This time in Paris we finally had time to visit the Moulin Rouge show. The name is known worldwide and so is the building. A big number of tourists line up to get a good pic of the Moulin Rouge. And of course so did we. We booked in advance. A regular ticket for the main show at 9pm. 155 Euros a person. There was a line, but it did move fast. Small purses are no problem, bigger bags and backpacks are not allowed in, but you can check them in at the free cloakroom. Inside it is very classy, flooded in red lights. Pretty dark. The biggest surprise were the amount of seats and tables. It is narrow, you sit very close to some strangers. Many tables are shared. If you need more privacy, then you need to book a VIP ticket. We didn't order champagne with, we just had a big dinner before the show, got just some soda, which was pricey still. The first impression in the end was a bit of a letdown. But that quickly changed when the show started. And what an amazing show it was. The stage is huge, the amount of singers and dancers is massive. All very very professional. Perfect choreography. They must train very hard to get into the show here. It really is prime entertainment. The show was almost 90 minutes long, longer than we expected. We mostly enjoyed the classic parts with the old-school fancy dresses. And yes, many of the dancers do indeed still appear topless on stage, which was nice, since we thought time has changed. And we were pleasantly suprised that they kept it old-school, classic and traditional. Could have skipped the 80s sections though. Musically not really our style. All in all we had a wonderful evening. The price for the ticket is justified. A lot of time and training goes into this show. And lots of staff in front and behind the stage. Really worth it. And a real highlight of our trip to Paris. The show in theory lets kids in from age 6. But I wouldn't recommend it though. Not because of the nudity (that's no shock and if you're uncomfortable with that, maybe Moulin Rouge is not for you), but because it's just more of an adult entertainment. The setting and the length of the show will be a bit much for kids. read more

Moulin Rougeeee ! So cool! I have wanted to see this ever since the movie Burlesque came out. I'm not even sure if this movie was filmed in Paris, but it made me think of the Moulin Rouge. And made me want to go there lol I saw the Moulin Rouge during the day, so I didn't get to see all of the lights. Bummer... We took public transportation to get there, and it was crowded. Lots of people around the outside and on the streets. I realllllly wanted to go see a show here, but we just didn't have time on our trip. I am sad about that. Maybe next time we go back to Paris, we will have time to see a show here! In any case, this is worth a stop. Even if you can't go see a show there, seeing the outside is still fun. Moulin Rouge is definitely one of the shows you must see if you come to Paris. Located in the red light district of Paris it's a show that definitely is not for the prude at heart nor at those afraid to see a generous amount of nudity in a show. The red light district is famous for the old school whore houses from the 1700 and 1800's. The buildings are still here and now turned into bars and restaurants. From what I was told by some locals we met the girls that perform are professional dancers that worked very hard to get onto the show. They aren't 18 year olds right out of high school but mature professional ladies. Even families with kids attend this show. The French culture is very open about nudity and sexuality. If you're like me growing up in an environment where sexuality was normal (born and raised in Vegas) then you've probably seen more tits than a Victoria Secret bra. But hats off to the girls of the show for keeping in such great shape. They are all toned, fit, in shape and show a good amount of skin. Thongs seem to be their main bottom piece. The show itself was very well done. Great production. So much going on on the stage and the amount of costumes the entertainers wear is amazing. Plus this show reminded me a lot of the Cirque Du Soilel shows I've seen growing up in Vegas. A lot of cool acrobatic and hard to perform acts that really deserve applause. My favorite parts were the dude balancing his body upside down on a bottle, the balancing guy on all those tubes, and finally the two strong men. Exact same act as Mystere in Las Vegas. Not taking away anything from these guys but I've seen this routine before. Their physical strength is incredible. The dancing was just eh. It was whatevs. The choreography was nothing impressive. The guys dancing sucked major lol. They cannot dance. But let's be real, nobody comes here to see a bunch of dudes dancing in their vests with no shirt on. People come to see the topless girls. Their were boobs everywhere. The dress code is pretty strict. Our entire group were all dressed in our best. Saw a few scrubs in here in sneakers and t shirts. Like seriously. Show some class and dress for the occasion! They don't allow shorts or sandals in the theater. That's a plus. The champagne they serve is on the house. But it is house champagne so it's not the best and it might give you a headache if you're not used to drinking it and don't have food in your stomach. We got some bottles of Taittinger Champagne which is top tier. Shocked it was only $100.00 Euros a bottle. We were all shocked since we charge over $800.00 at our restaurant back in the US. Definitely a show worth seeing once. Kind of the tourist thing to do. I recommend seeing the later show since it is significantly less expensive. I can't see paying 2 bills for this show. read more

For me, this was the highlight of our Paris trip. We booked the dinner (Soiree Toulouse-Lautrek Menu) and show tickets, so we were there for over 3 hours. I enjoyed the dinner very much. For appetizer, I had the Marinated Fillet of Seabream. It was well marinated raw/sushi fillets. My friend got the Duck Foie Gras, which is good as well yet we're not into foie gras. For main entree, I had the Oven Baked Pollack Fish and my friend got the Grilled Cooked Breast of Farm Chicken. For me, the fish was a better entree and looked prettier than the chicken. I enjoyed my fish. However, I wish I paid more for the Belle Epoque Menu since the Veal entree seemed a better option. For desserts, we had the Choux Pastry and Cheesecake, which were very good. We liked the pastry better than the other. For the show, it was really good! It was very entertaining! It was a well coordinated performance. There was a lot of nudity with breasts; but the show was well choreographed so the nudity played a big role as art, like the art around the city, with paintings and sculptures showing a lot of nudity in art. I wish I watch the show towards the later part of our stay in Paris. Watching it on our first night, jet lagged, was a bit of a challenge. read more

Go see it once, some of the performers are spectacular. I would order the dinner. Have fun!

It's a glitzy production with mediocre singing and dancing talent but all is forgiven for all the boobs and ass you see. There are a few performances like contortionists, skaters and balancing acts. I mean, half way, it all becomes the same more or less. Just more outfits and half naked women dancing. It's a very Parisian thing to do so I can't talk that much trash about it. Would recommend just because it's like a bucket list one and done. read more
