The doctors are educated and do what needs to be done, but in order to reach the nurse you have to practically threaten to go personally into the office. Repeated calls go unanswered, medications go without being called in, prior authorizations go unauthorized and people suffer for months without any significant help. My husband has been dealing with this office for almost 2 years and they refuse to refer him to another doctor because "They will only do what I am already doing". Exact words! He can't take the chance of not getting the meds he desperately needs if he were to stop going to this office. He is severely depressed because this has been going on for so long without any relief. I promise I am not someone that complains a lot. Like I said, I work in healthcare and understand that it is hectic and unforgiving at times, but this is like nothing I have ever seen!

I was in the hospital in Davenport with him for 13 days and begged to go home. Had 5 IV's attached to me with a pain level of 9 out of 10 all the time. On morphine and couldn't get enough. Next time, went to Iowa City and was out in 5 days for disconnection and second colostomy (since Atwell had created a fistula between my colon and my bladder and he had taken out my uterus and collapsed my urethra tube). The pain level in Iowa City was 0. Reconnection 3 months later, 2 days in Iowa City with pain level of 0 also. DO NOT go to a hospital in the QCA unless you enjoy pain and extended stays. Drive 90 minutes and get the best in Iowa City.

I don't get angry about it, though, because I know the reason for that is that she will NOT rush ANY visit WITH ANY patient. Over the course of the day enough people think of additional questions that keeps her busy answering and she just runs behind. I would rather have to wait longer than normal and have her undivided attention for as long as I need it when I do see her. She has never failed to meet that expectation which is why we have been seeing her for over 20 years now I would say. Despite how many patients she might see over the course of a day/week/or month it never ceases to amaze me how she always remembers bits and pieces of what I do for a living and always asks about my wife. Keep in mind that I typically only see her maybe 2-3 times/year. She must have an excellent memory. We feel fortunate to have her as our primary care physician. By and large I would say that all the staff that I have ever dealt with were equally courteous and kind as Dr. Kumar is. I always feel like I am treated with the utmost courtesy and kindness.
