As far as bike is concerned, unless you have experience on a 1000lbs bike remember with pillion, full bags and full tank of fuel it's a REAL HANDFUL at low speed, especially with the foot boards that force you to tilt bike over further and also has other terrible ergonomics in general. If your coming off a Japanese or European 500lbs bike, I ride a Triumph Speedmaster, this thing could ruin your weekend !! If you're 6'6" and 300lbs or just have experience with these, you might be OK ! Otherwise, I'm 5'8" 200lbs, wife ~similar, full bags, tank, I'd recommend maybe a heritage classic or similar .. His knowledge is encyclopaedic, and it will show when he designs your route. Erin runs operations, accommodation, logistics, pacing are all handled from long experience. Everything is tailored. I wanted small, backwater towns and characterful places to stay rather than major cities, and that's exactly what I got. If you want big cities and landmarks instead, they can do that too. Ride Free can cater just as easily for groups or individuals. I chose to ride alone, deliberately, because it made it easier to talk to locals at each stop and really absorb the places I passed through. Equally, if you want to take on an adventure with your mates -- riding together, sharing the experience, they cater for that just as well. When it comes to the bikes, Wil is first and foremost an experienced rider himself and leads some of the tours. He understands what works over long days in the saddle and will recommend an ideal bike for your trip or source exactly what you want if you have something specific in mind. What I didn't expect was that one of these trips would end up meaning far more to me than "just" a ride. Because of the timing and planning around Route 66, I happened to be in New York immediately beforehand where I met the woman who is now my wife. That part wasn't planned, of course, but Ride Free quite literally set the conditions for it to happen. I suspect they don't often get credited with marriages, but this one belongs on the list. Practically zero traffic except on the way back to the clubhouse at the end of the day. Complimentary breakfast and lunch added bonus. I was worried that we would be going 50 maaaaaaybe 60 max at some points. I was wrong. Our pace car was fantastic! I hit 80 or 90 in every single car I think. Merging onto PCH in the GTR was probably the fastest I went all day but throughout the twists and turns of Canyon roads we would hit nice straightaways and always go pedal to medal a few times in every car. The ONLY complaint I would have about this place was actually booking the date to do the tour. I originally bought the package back in Novemeber and they scheduled me for a tour in late November that got cancelled last minute. Then they did the same thing in December. So I was pretty upset. They gave me a free passenger (usually a $250 additional fee) so I took my buddy with me. The lineup of cars were awesome! The roads were awesome! The guides were awesome! The weather was awesome! Extremely little traffic. It was an amazing time, I already want to do it again next year. I would warn anyone who can't drive manual to either learn or talk with the rep before you go on a tour because their fleet of cars consists of both manual and automatic transmissions. One of the guys in my group couldn't drive stick so he only drove 4 of the cars on the tour.
