Sheridan really understood our vision and went to lots of effort in research to try and help us meet our needs. It wasn't too tricky, because G&G is right next door! Fiona and Olivia launched their high tea events service earlier this year as a mobile business, individually tailoring your event for you. "At home or under your favourite tree, we come to you. All props, paraphernalia, nonsense and everything in between are provided, no matter the size or style of the event. Our team of stylists are addicted to sourcing unique and one-of-a-kind pieces, giving each party its own flair and fabulousness!" Sounds divine, and there are some lovely event photos on their facebook page. Now, they still run this service... and based on their Facebook page, I guess I wasn't really sure what I'd be walking into. A ground zero for high tea, maybe? A place for potential clients to meet the stylists? But they'd described the space as a "shop"... And a SHOP it definitely was. With only limited trading hours, the small and quiet nooks of Grit & Glamour's retail space are full of vintage and twee pieces of furniture and decorations for you to make your very own. I suppose when you're sourcing items for events, you come across so many wonderful things, and though they can't always be used for the particular event you're sourcing for, they might just come in handy down the track... or for somebody else. This is a private business that's a welcome center, restaurant/cafe, and lodge with cabin style rooms to stay and enjoy the birds. Everything here is bird-centric and you'll see tons so if you love them, this is a must-stop. We only came for the day and started with a visit to the cafe for burgers and drinks. Even in the dining areas the birds will come up to you. The gift shop is large with lots of souvenirs. The highlight is buying a tray of bird seed, where you'll be immediately inundated with parrots and other birds fighting over the seeds. It's amazing to see them so close up. They have an airplane that tells the story of a crash on the mountain decades ago. They have restrooms as well. From the center, there is a forest walk that's worth it to get closer to nature. At the end there is a botanical garden you can explore, and a tree top walk with bridges pretty high up. On one especially tall tree, there are ladders that go into the canopy to get amazing views of the valley and far off mountains. It's worth the climb! If you're in the area, this is a must visit special place. You can either spend the day, or stay a night or two if you want to experience natural Australia.
