Given the name "Motel One" and the reasonable prices, I thought when booking this hotel it would have been a bare bones budget hotel. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival with the quality and value for the price. It's by no means a luxury or fancy hotel, but in terms of budget hotels it's one of the best I have been to.
There are a lot of little extras provided here that make it a great value and pleasant place to stay when visiting Dresden.
There is a very large lobby area with stylish tables and seating, and the check in desk doubles as a bar. At the check in area one can order alcoholic beverages and snacks. The prices are reasonable. Many patrons take advantage of this service, and as a result the lobby area is lively. In the same lobby area they have their breakfast buffet. The quality of the offerings in the buffet are extensive, and it is well worth the extra 9.50 Euro charge.
The room was larger than many single rooms you find in Germany. The hotel itself is a fully modern building, and they have card keys for the rooms and there is no need therefore to turn in your key when you leave
There are a few nice details in the building. When you enter your room, there is a slot to place your card key, which turns on all the lights and the TV.
There is a switch right next to the bed that also controls all the lights--this is nice, not to have to get out of bed to find the light switch. The televisions show a screen saver image with soft music or sound effects instead of an advertisement before you switch the channel.
The bathroom has a few stylish details, such as an external basin and a very large and powerful shower head. The shower is also behinds a glass wall instead of a cheap curtain.
The location is very good--it's only about three quarters of a mile from the city center, and it's a very nice walk there across the Elbe.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again, either in Dresden or in any of the other cities where they also are located. read more
