Prior to getting married back in May, I went to Moss and ordered furniture for my whole house in Feb. OMG. The biggest mistake I ever made in my life. Despite the bad reputation that they have, we still went there to support them. Robert M. has no idea what he is talking about. They dont have the best deals. Everything we ordered 4-5 months to arrive and when they did they were damaged. And it takes just as long to replace your damaged goods. They have been giving me the run around since day one, and yesterday was just the last straw. Ordering your furniture for your home should be a pleaseant experince and you should love what you are ordering. Not looking through books and picking what you might or might not love. And once they get your money- thats it they treat you like garbage. We spent a lot of money there. And I am begging you all- save yourself the heartache and suffering. Go somewhere else. Anywhere! I have been biting my tongue with them for months and been really trying to be patient with them- but when calling yesterday regarding a leather couch that I recieved back in May that was damaged- HELLO DIDNT I SAY I GOT THE COUCH IN MAY?! I was calling to see what the status was on my new couch-I mean its only been 6 months almost 7! I was calling to ask about my replacement.....I was told "it wasnt ordered due to the previous owner"! Ummm- that was it. I couldnt take it anymore. I am 6 months pregnant and I want to focus on my baby not furniture war! My husband was furious! We did file a report to the Better Business Bureau and we have contacted a lawyer- and we want our money back for 2 couches that cost over $3,000! And we want our money back for a $1400 credit we have! Enough was enough! People- if you go here- dont say I didnt warn you. And my aunt a few years back went through the samething. She was sent a desk with missing knobs and broken pieces. She did get her money back with help with her lawyer.....but was charged a restocking fee! Im sorry. I will not be paying a restocking fee! Im not going to pay for their mistakes and horrible service and poor quality of furniture! Like I said, dont say I didnt warn you. And I promise you-if you do and you do order from them- you will be saying "I wish I listened to Renee on Yelp"! No one deserves to be treated like this. We spent a lot and I do mean a lot of money- its not true when they say "you get what you pay for". Well, it is kind of true- just not from Moss. OH and BONUS INFO- ART VAN carries the same books you see at MOSS. NOT KIDDING! I have seen them with my own eyes! And at least you will be treated better there and wont be treated like garbage prior to paying for everything! I dont care if MOSS & ASSOSIATES see this! I was very specific about my review so they know we werent bluffing! SAVE YOUR MONEY PEOPLE! Nine + months, yes 9 months and counting for my full furniture order to arrive. The salesman, Chuck Mielke, won't return calls. I happen to work in the area and have gone in over a half dozen times. Never have I gotten a straight answer. First the workers in North Carolina took an early vacation.. next the fabric had to be totally replaced due to the ream running out and the two patterns might not match up 100% if not from the same cloth ream.. next the furniture was in China, yes China, having the fabric cut to size and pillows made.. then the furniture has to be shipped back to North Carolina... then the INS/ICE/Homeland Security arrested 250+ workers for immigration violations in North Carolina (so far the INS/ICE part is the only really verifiable thing Moss has told me)...next the furniture missed the truck but would surely make the next delivery in a "few weeks". Well, Moss & Associates held my $900 for over 7 months and I finally received my sofa and love seat...just a little damaged. I refused to pay the rest of the C.O.D. until it was repaired. Wouldn't you know it, repair man made it out that day instead of the 2 weeks I was initially told. Still waiting on my chair. Seven months to get a sofa & love seat; nine months and no accent chair. Channel 7 News did a few stories on Moss & Associates after I received my sofa & love seat. Turns out Moods has done this to many other customers. Moss owes so many manufacturers $ that the manufacturer won't build or ship until Moss pays in full; this was told to me a Moss worker. So from what I can gather, Moss uses current customer down payments to pay for prior customer orders....thus the 7 months to get an order that was promised in 7 weeks. Short of a Ponzi scheme in my eyes. Run far away from this business. Albert's in Lincoln Park can order the same furniture and actually quoted me a better price by $400 and free shipping. I had Moss match the deal and now regret it. Missed an Anniversary and 2 children's birthday parties by using Moses; by miss I mean we had to use our older and broken down couches for those parties. If we got the delivery in the 7 weeks e were quoted and promised I would give Moss 4 stars; as I sit now I'd give -3 stars if that was an option, it isn't so 1 star. The delivery guys greeted me by saying, "just so you know we do accept tips" and had their hands out, palms up. I declined and stated 7 + months was a bit too long to wait for a couch....plus the knuckle heads had my furniture loose and unsecured in the back of the truck. Tip! Tip! How about not damaging my couch. That's a to for you. I s told by Chuck, the salesman, the couch would be delivered in a crate and I would be responsible to dispose of the crate..... No crate... Just loose, unsecured and unwrapped furniture. Google the Channel 7 News story. Do not order from Moss. They may have been a good company years ago but 2013 has shown me they are aloof, liars, curt and above all dishonest. There must be a Chapter 7 in their future. No way can a business operate like this...at least not for long. read more

I ordered the furniture in July 2013, for four rooms (library room, Dinning room, bed room, and great room). They only delivered for library room furniture. Still trying my luck, and waiting for the other remaining furniture, from the past 5 months. They won't answer any calls. This was one of the biggest mistakes I've done. Never order from these people. You will not get the furniture. Luckily I ordered my furniture, using credit card and filing a dispute. This place has turned itself into a customer ponzi scheme. Ive experienced it and it seems Im not the only one. They can get any furniture you want as long as you give a hefty deposisit and are willing to wait until Moss is ready to deliver it. My furniture was manufactured and waiting to be delivered to me but Moss wouldnt release the order until weeks of calling and complaining to no avail. Once i contacted the mfg. they said my furniture is ready they were just waiting for Moss to release my money! After much persistance I finally got my money released and my furniture delivered. thank God and never again. read more

Listen to the bad reviews folks. I used to love Moss because you got more for your money. That's only really true if they have what you want in stock on Miller Road. And that's because you'll actually get your product!!!! If they have to order something for you . . . I suggest you run quickly! Ugh! I don't have the energy to write a long review but please know that we've been trying to get our $$$ back after ordering something in Nov 2012 that was supposed to arrive late Jan 2013. It's now May 2013 and still no product. I really hope that we don't have to get a lawyer just to get our $$$ back. They are giving us a complete run around on getting our $$$ back. We can only talk to a certain person who's never in the office. What kind of crap is that??? Never mind leaving your number thinking you'll get a call back from this person that's never in the office because guess what . . . you won't get it. If you want quality furniture, honest sales people don't shop here. They have lied to little old ladies who have sunk their hard earned retirement dollars into deposits and their only return was lies like the Lumber yard ran out of lumber. Really Moss Furniture the Lumber Yard Ran out of LUMBER!!!!!!!! 23 Complaints with the Better Business Bureau, Channel 7 Detroit did a story on how they gave the ran around to another local couple and now little old ladies. Wow what a horrible mistake! I have used Moss in the past, but they have changed for the worse. Ordered furniture in May and have not gotten anything... I've been going round and round with staff trying to get an honest answer - you will not get an honest answer from Moss. And to make matters worse I found the same furniture online at Home Click or Home Element or Wayfair.com for less! with far better reviews from more people. read more

Worst. Furniture. Experience. EVER. Dishonesty is a mild adjective to describe their sales, customer service, and ownership. If you have 4 months to wait on furniture that should have arrived in 2 weeks, go with Moss. If you don't mind your walls getting damaged from incompetent delivery guys, Moss if the place for you! If you like sitting around for 6 1/2 hours on the day of your delivery, this is your place. If you don't mind EVER having your calls returned, use Moss. It's an absolute circus from the sales dept (RON) to the drivers (the Steves) and the best part is the ringmaster, Jim (owner). If it didn't happen to me this would have been comical. But seriously, save yourself the headache and go with a reputable furniture dealer. You can do better than Moss. You deserve better. read more

The absolute worst furniture buying experience I have had was at Moss & Assoc. My wife and I purchased a bedroom set in Feb 2013 after our wedding. We were told delivery would take 6-8 weeks. After 14 weeks and repeated telephone calls (with no return calls and lots of excuses) still no furniture. In May 2013, we bought comparable furniture from Restoration Hardware and it was delivered in 3 weeks. The people at Moss are dishonest -- they will tell you anything to get the sale and the deposit and then completly forget about you afterwards. read more

Update: They didn't fight the credit card company on my disputed charge so I did receive a full refund - four months after I purchased the furniture. I've filed complaints with the BBB and the Michigan Attorney General and strongly suggest that others do the same. This place needs to be shut down and the owner should face criminal prosecution. read more

Well I received my bedroom furniture from Moss today and have to give them a thumbs up. I got the best deal there after checking with several other places. Granted I had to special order it and wait for it but I saved hundreds so it was worth the wait. I also had to be at work the morning of delivery and the delivery people accommodated me and had my furniture at my house by 9:00 AM. There are a lot of stores out there but I try to patronize the small business man. So if you are looking to keep a few extra dollars in your pocket and have the time to wait this is the place for you. read more

After visiting other local stores in the area, I stopped at Moss Furniture. I was looking for a kitchen set and a guest bedroom set. Found a great deal on a kitchen set from the showroom and had it delivered the next day. The bedroom set had to be ordered and I was told it could take 4-12 weeks and it came in around the 10 1/2 week mark. Since it was for a spare room it was no big deal.Plus I saved about $500.00 compared to other places. There is a area in the back that has some clearance pieces and discontinued items that are a good deal. Where can you get a 3 piece bistro set for $75.00 or 2 nightstands for $99.00. Odds and ends are in abundance back there. read more

buyers beware!!!!! i placed an order w/ this company and gave them a deposit for furniture in august....was told 4-8 weeks to deliver....now 3months later no furniture.....i have received the absolute worst customer service i have every experienced...that is when i could get someone to call me back....i am now filing paperwork w/ my credit card company to dispute this purchase ......with all the companies out there no one should bother with this company unless you want to experience a purchasing nightmare.....i will be looking into filing a complant with the better business bureau read more

Bought a couch and love seat back in August.... Went to pick it up and both pieces of furniture had rips and scuffs and a piece of the frame on the back of the couch that was loose. Upon telling the owner that we had an issue he said no problem come back tomorrow it will be fixed. Got a phone call that they couldn't fix the rips etc. and that we could pick it up and use them until a new set comes in, in about 8 weeks.... (this sounds familiar to an earlier post)... 10 weeks goes by and no phone call, so I called. They told me that they weren't going to get anymore of those type of couches in and that we needed to come in and pick out new ones. Apparently they were waiting around in hopes of one coming in until we called them back, instead of them calling us in September when they found out they were discontinuing this model! We went in and didn't find anything in there show room and were told that they would continue looking for us.... We have not received any correspondence from this company... Anytime we talk to them it is us calling them. Anytime we have called it is always someone is too busy to talk and they will call us back... Like I said before they haven't called us back... We have sent e-mails thinking maybe they would hide behind there computer and at least respond... Not a chance... It is now February and still no resolution... read more
