Based on those encouraging findings, I called Gulf Coast Kitchens and arranged for Dave to come over and assess our situation. We were immediately impressed by his assessment of our cabinetry and what he could do to upgrade our kitchen. This involved both replacing some of our cabinetry and some of the doors on cabinetry that was still in decent shape. Dave provided us with a plan and reasonable cost estimate for doing the work, and we hired him to proceed. He gathered the necessary cabinets, doors and other materials, and he and his associate, Chris, spent several days at our house replacing and modifying our cabinetry. They also replaced all the dated cabinetry on our outdoor lanai. They were easy to have in our house for this project. I am not exaggerating if I say that we are ecstatic with the results. Our home flooded during Hurricane Helene and had to be completely gutted. Larissa didn't hesitate--she jumped right in. Her team had kept all the original specs and measurements, which made reordering cabinets and materials fast and seamless. We also made a few design upgrades the second time around, and Larissa helped us through every decision with expert guidance and care. We had planned to sell the house after the rebuild, but the finished remodel was so stunning that we changed our minds and decided to stay! The bathroom remodel project took over 4 times longer than it should have (they quoted 3 weeks but…read moreit took 14 weeks, and some weeks they didn't even show up at all), they don't get permits even when they are legally required but they don't tell you that unless you ask, and they had to come back and redo poor work repeatedly. For example, they installed floors that were basically sandpaper material and not cleanable so they ripped those out and redid them which added to the project cost. As another example, they had to redo the shower 3 times because it leaked- first they had to remove the glass and redo the tiles, then had to redo the silicone, then had to add extra silicone on their third time out to fix it because the first silicone fix didn't work either. As another example, they installed vessel sinks on top of standard-height countertops and they were so high up I couldn't even reach the sink faucet without a stool (I'm not exaggerating but I'm also only 5'2). So we ended up having to pick all new countertops because they had to redo that whole area. They wanted to charge me for the new countertops and new sinks, but thankfully when I argued that it was their mistake, they denied it being their mistake but did the right thing and didn't charge. It was a bummer to see them ruin the perfect countertops we wanted that matched what we have throughout the house. I was actually really surprised at how many things they were able to do wrong, but I have to admit it all looks really good now. Not sure if it would pass an inspection though. If I had known what it would be like, I definitely wouldn't have chosen them.
