This company has been around for over 125 years. It was founded in June 1899 by William Morrison, who started the business as an egg and butter merchant in Rawson Market, Bradford, England.
His son Ken Morrison took over the company in 1952, aged 21. In 1958, Morrisons opened a small shop in the city centre. Now it has around 500 stores including one that I visited in Gibraltar, over 100,000 emirates serving about 11 million customers a week. Wow.
The range of in store products runs to 10's of thousands of lines. Our visit to the Holyhead store in Anglesey was to have fresh milk and bread for breakfast at home on our return home from our tour of Wales, England from Lizard Point to the border with Scotland.
The staff are friendly and real helpful. While there we grabbed their meal deal which included very good costa coffee. We brought our food aboard ship as it's sure tastier than what the ship offers and a third of the price. read more
