Dr. Morningstar, staff and facilities are professional, clean and very kind. With that being said here was my experience (mind you this happened years ago therefore current policies and procedures may have changed, I want to be honest just to be fair) My husband was experiencing major back issues and decided to go to a chiropractor. We were very young and inexperienced in health care and simply called the Morningstar office because it was nearby. They were very nice and said they accepted our insurance provider over the phone and to come in for a consolation. After the consultation we were again made to feel like insurance was not a problem. After months of visits my husband saw an improvement in his pain (awesome!) however our insurance payments started rolling in. I was confused. I had assumed our visits were covered. After a telephone call to Dr. Morningstar we found out that he is out of our network. He insisted he STAYS OUT of ALL insurance networks to be able to provide utmost care without the restraint of what different insurances will pay for (shady if you ask me). I was shocked. Why were we not made aware of this? He said he accepted our insurance during the consultation. He firmly stated 'it was in our contract' and of course it was, all his bases were covered. But I did feel like he prayed upon our young minded ignorance of health care insurance and out of network providers under the guise of Christianity. I trusted him and felt completely duped (even through I realize it was my fault and this issue would hold no valid complaint, however not one time did him or his staff ever state that we would have to pay anything at all out of pocket. They made us feel welcomed, and that our insurance would pay for everything. My husband checked out after appointments several times and staff made it clear that we didn't owe anything at all) I cried for days. I was a young mother with small children, in school and not working at the time and we were barely making it. Now we owed thousand which seemed like millions to an already very rich man. I emailed him several times and he did work out a payment plan. It was $260.00 a month, the same as our one car payment at the time. I was very broken hearted and Christmas was tight that year however I learned a very important lesson. CHECK YOUR NETWORK providers! I never go one visit without being extremely ridged on what my healthcare pays for. Also NEVER trust your doctor or staff. Unfortunately many are in the business to make money and not help patients. In conclusion Dr. Morningstar and staff are very kind and helpful in pain management. But read your contract carefully, know exactly how much it will cost. Remember he is not an in network doctor to ANY insurance provider. If we would have been smart we would have went to an in network provider and paid nothing for the exact same type of care as there was nothing exceedingly special about Morningstar that we couldn't just go see a different doctor. So in conclusion Dr. Morningstar Chiropractor is a business. It's a fantastic place for treatment but read in between the lines carefully. Dr. Morningstar is an excellent salesman and will sell you services regardless if your current state of finances can afford it or not. He does not care. Thankfully we have finished schooling since then and have been able to move up professionally but I will never forget that experience and how awful it felt. read more
