Don't live here. You can do better. They do NOT care about you, only your money. They are slow to repair if they repair at all, they have a problem with mice and bugs, and there is something seriously wrong with the water. It wasn't always this way, but this building was built in the 1920's and the management company is CHEAP and LAZY about upkeep. The maintenance man is creepy and me thinks he enters my apartment when I'm not here. I say that because one day he was in my apartment and was waaaay to familiar with where everything was. I have been renting from Morlen Realty for one year now, and I have been extremely satisfied with their service, accommodations, and atmosphere. I would say that my experience with Morlen has been my best rental experience thus far. I am currently relocating to the West Coast, therefore leaving my current apartment, but I wanted to leave a review of my experience before I relocated. My apartment unit was very clean and cozy. Maintenance was readily available and fixed any issues within 24 hours. Building upkeep was completed regularly, and I always felt that I was living in a nice environment. Laundry facilities were also easily accessible, clean, and well-maintained. The team at Morlen were excellent. The landlord was extremely accommodating during my job search/relocation to the West Coast and allowed me to rent month-by-month after the end of the first year of my lease to meet my needs. I must say the most frequently asked question from friends during my relocation was regarding when my lease ended, and I always replied without anxiety because of Morlen's accommodations. The team showed they cared about their tenants in multiple ways, including the maintenance man offering use of his two-wheel dolly during move-out. I truly felt valued as a tenant throughout this past year. Overall, I had a great experience with Morlen Realty Corporation, and I would recommend renting from them if you are looking for a place in Oak Park, Illinois. read more

Where do I start about Morlen Realty... I will list the PROS and CONS from actual and factual information , rather than perception. And this review is really about the COST since most people move into apartments based on these factors. Okay, I have lived in the same apartment for 3+years. This is definitely my last lease tour with living in a Morlen managed buildings and Oak Park in general. The PROS of living in the current location is: Location to Green line/Metra station I290 accessibility location to Chicago - city Grocery store (Dominicks one block away) Rent is cheapest in the area The CONS Owning a car in Oak Park is very expensive due to parking fees. The fee to park your car for 3 months cost approximately $160 for 24 hour parking and $110/3 months for night parking. The price is changing quarterly, so it may be alot more in the near future. Random parking ticket placed on vehicle by OP. This is a nice revenue stream for OP which they very seldom lose a parking citation contest. You are always wrong in their opinion and if you dont have physical proof beyond reasonable doubt, you simply lose! Annual city sticker - another revenue stream Morlen managed section 8 housing in affect! One of my neighbors tried to sell me access to her bridge card. I dont think Morlen screens tenets well. There are so many people living in Morlen managed buildings that doesnt work and havent worked for years. This definitely leads me to believe this is section 8 housing. Scrupulous people in/out buildings all day/night. Bug and mice problem. I complained and Morlen dropped off mouse traps on my couch. Thats not my job Morlen to place these traps in the appropriate locations. Stolen mail/packages - I have to get important mail and packages delivered to my work because they are guaranteed to get stolen at home. Apartment was broken into and numerous items stolen. Definitely a tenet issue as the intruders entered the building - not the back door. Police appears at least once a week at one of the buildings. Would be interesting to see the common reasons why they appear so often. Heat is controlled by Morlen in the winter which causes high humidity in the apartments. The results from this is mold damage, paint peeling, fogged windows, and respiratory problems. The plumbing gets backed up periodically due to old piping. Not a bike (peddling/moped/motorcycle) friendly place. No place to park either one of the above! There are SO many other issues that I cant name at this time. The most important suggestion I can give if you or someone plan on renting from Morlen is to read and re-read lease agreement! Scrutinize the lease as if you are signing over your life! Only sign the lease if you are on EVEN or advantageous terms with Morlen. I will probably add another thorough review once I move out. read more

I don't have much of a review, since after leaving email and phone messages for "Oak Park Vintage Properties" numerous times in the last 2 plus weeks, I have yet to have heard from them. Seems odd to have a business, and yet...not return a call or an email? After reading the previous review...probably just as well. I like the "bang for the buck" idea, but......the lousy maintenance and apathy about ceiling leaks. Not for me. read more

I've lived in one of the Morlen buildings for over 15 years. Mike is very responsive to issues. The building is clean. In my six unit wing the tenants are very nice. We've had a couple of section 8 disasters complete with police and great drama, but otherwise it is a good value for the space provided. Renting is not owning and you must keep it all in perspective. Poor management. When it is time to get your security deposit, they will stall and make excuses. Excuses is their answer to everything. They have poor heating, old buildings that are not renovated, and lack of concern for their clients. read more
