However, after going to see Mr. Herren and learning the processes, I assisted his office in gathering all of my medical records and made sure that all goals he set for me, were met. As Mr. Herren explained, early on, in the state of Texas its "Deny, Deny, Appeal/Go Before The Judge"! How very nice of them. Before this was another staff member who would "PERSONALLY deLIVER a MESsage to the LAWYER (emphasis theirs) about the CASE!!!!" pure sarcasm on their part. Oh, how valued I felt. I would argue that this firm treats all native English speakers with the same level of disdain. If you are dealing with a federal case -- something serious, something with real stakes -- you deserve a firm that treats your situation with basic professional respect. Pines Federal does not. They will let you reach out repeatedly while your clock is ticking and say absolutely nothing. I have since filed a formal complaint with the state bar. There are good federal defense attorneys out there. This firm is apparently too busy -- or too indifferent -- to be one of them. Save yourself the time, the anxiety, and the false hope. Go somewhere that will actually pick up the phone.
